Michele and I are trail runners and for Thanksgiving 2012 we went to Sedona to run the trails in the national Forest. We immediately fell in love with Sedona and started looking for a house. As soon as we walked into this house we knew this was the one. We bought this house on the last day of 2012 and I spent four months of 2013 renovating the house. Michele decorated from local artists and local art sellers.
We love traveling the world (picture above is from Iceland) and we know what is important when visiting a new place. We took this knowledge and integrated as much as we could into furnishing, decorating, outfitting our Sedona home. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
For now our work keeps us in the Washington DC area most of the time but, whenever we can we go to Sedona to seek adventure and to relax. -Joe
Joe Clapper purchased this house in 2012
When looking for a house in Sedona, Red Rock Views and being close to trails were non-negotiable. We picked this particular house because it was in a quiet neighborhood, close to everything, yet not so close you can hear it. The Village of Oak Creek offers all the amenities without the hustle and bustle of uptown Sedona.
The cathedral ceiling in the great room with a glass wall looking out on Castle Rock and Gunsight Gap made this house unique. As you walk through the sliding door onto the large patio the panorama of red rocks expands. The covered patio allows you to relax in comfort as the natural world surrounds you.
My family and I have rented many vacation homes throughout the years. We have never been unhappy with any of the selections that we've made. That being said, this property is truly special compared to all the rest we've experienced.
This is a wonderfully comfortable home with a crazy good view of the Red Rocks in the back. There are amenities a plenty. The Clappers make sure that everything you need is available in the home. Cooking items, blankets, sheets, pillows, towels, utensils, plates, you name it. There is a lot of it, and most of it is of the quality you want in your own home. The furniture is comfortable, wifi works good, and the hot tub is nice.
The home is in fantastic condition with no issues with paint, flooring, etc. Everything is clean and stain free. It is in a neighborhood with quite a few close neighbors, but you really don't even realize it when you are there. The back of the home is very well 'secluded' with the landscaping. We had zero issues with noise or anything neighbor related.
The area is nice. There is a decent grocery store within a couple of minutes from the home. There is also a great little cafe beside the grocery (hint: Eggs Benedict!). The home is 10-15 minutes from the touristy center of Sedona; lots of shops and restaurants, and the beauty of the Red Rocks. Don't get me started on the golf in Sedona, and of course in Phoenix/Scottsdale.
Flagstaff is not far, the Grand Canyon is roughly two hours North, and Phoenix is about an hour South of the home. We spent a good bit of time in Sedona. We visited Flagstaff and spent one day at the Grand Canyon. Towards the end of our stay we visited the Barrett Jackson Car Auction in Scottsdale for a day.
We have always like to take vacations somewhere new, but have already discussed coming back to the Clapper's home. Maybe my son and I can carry our golf clubs with us next time....I'm going to work on that! (:
The definition of Grand Hospitality was redefined. A wonderful home, prepared for guest with loving care and (com)passion. We were fully refreshed and blessed. Thank you so very very much!
Beautiful home! First time getting a vacation rental and was unsure how it would work out. Owner was very attentive and answered questions very quickly! Wish we could stay there forever!
This house and yard were truly amazing! Absolutely top-notch! With a vacant lot behind the house, we had privacy, a fantastic view, and a secluded yard with flowers, quail, hummingbirds, deer, lizards, etc. We spent many evenings on the patio, dining and enjoying the view. The house is gorgeous and was spotless, with every possible amenity, such as a printer, huge variety of dishes, cooking utensils, & appliances, many extra linens and pillows, Costco-sized packages of paper products, spices, coffees & teas, soaps, cleaning supplies, and so much more. It's the best vacation home we've ever stayed in, and our guests were amazed. After hours, neighbors are allowed to walk on the golf course which is a couple blocks away. It has luscious, cool green grass, tall pines, and red rock views. Amazing place! You'll love it!
"Reviews Say It All" -- and we agree! Beginning with the location, the Village of Oak Creek is quiet, yet 3 golf courses, many hiking trails, a great grocery store and fun restaurants are all within 5 minutes. The home is positioned such that the covered patio provides a relaxing and spectacular view of red rocks, which we enjoyed in the cool mornings, from inside, at lunchtime on the nice table outside, and every night - wine with sunsets! The furnishings within the home are comfortable; we enjoyed the Southwest decor, and the kitchen was, indeed, completely well-equipped.
We spent our month hiking, golfing, walking the neighborhood, and we joined the health club at the Hilton Resort to use the lap pool and gym there. You Gotta Do a Pink Jeep Tour -- and you do! And we took the Verde Canyon train trip (and go first class, why not?) - an enjoyable afternoon. And after the sun goes down, yes, relax in the hot tub under the stars!
We would absolutely choose this home again for a return trip to the Sedona area.
We throughly enjoyed this beautiful home. The owners are wonderful to communicate with and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was pleasurable. We always rent via VRBO and can honestly say this was the cleanest and most organized home we have ever stayed in. The views of Sedonas red rocks from any room of the house were breathtaking! Great location: we visited the Grand Canyon twice (once via the train in Williams), saw town of Jerome, hiked to see ancient ruins, and got a little adventurous by riding atvs through beautiful Sedona! We really enjoyed the hot tub each night after all our travels! Thanks Joe for renting your awesome home to us as we celebrated our 25th anniversary!
Best trails for hiking, biking, and running anywhere. There is something for everyone including helicopter rides, new age activities, Indian ruins, hot-air ballooning, art galleries, Indian jewelry & artifacts, factory outlet shopping, concerts, Cinemas - (Sedona International Film Festival), health spas, psychics, swimming, 2.5 hours from Grand Canyon, 40 minutes from Lowell Observatory, tennis, jeep tours, skydiving, skiing. Or just look at the red rocks.
