About Becky

Both Jim and I grew up in the Chicago area and live in the City now.

My husband Jim has been traveling to the North Shore since he was boy and has great memories of his family vacations there.

My first trip to the North Shore was just after we were married 15 years ago. I fell in love with area immediately and never wanted our vacations to come to an end.

Becky purchased this house in 2012

Why Becky chose Lutsen

We have been looking for the perfect house and piece of property ever since our first trip up together. Finally our dream came true this past year.

Growing up in, and living in Chicago now, we love the fact, that when at Twin Cedars we can't see our neighbors. That was very important to us.

We try to get to Twin Cedars every chance we get but in the mean time want to share this beautiful piece of the North Shore with you.

What makes this house unique

I remember vividly my first glimpse of Lake Superior right from the driveway. As I walked down the gentle sloping path into the yard for the first time, I saw a cute little footbridge crossing over a seasonal creek. Not only did I have a beautiful, walkable, ledge rock shore stretching out in front of me but a babbling brook as well.

As I strolled up the small creek bed lined with stones and wild roses I realized we had a small Springtime waterfall located just off the deck. This is one of my husbands favorite things to enjoy while grilling.

Inside the house is all 'Knotty pine' that gives you that true 'Up North' feeling.

This is a 1960's custom built house with lots of fun interesting features. With the updated track lighting you can either do some fine needle work and reading or have a cozy family movie night.

Both the Family room and A-Frame have fantastic views of the lake. Just off the A-Fame are a few bird feeders rigged to attract a variety of species and with windows all around being from floor to ceiling the bird watching can be exceptional. It sometimes feels like you are in your own tree house.

The Family room has a huge picture window that looks out over the deck and Lake Superior. You can see all the way to the Horizon here.

Beautiful Cabin RIGHT on the Water!

  • 5 of 5

A group of eight of us law students stayed here for three nights on our winter break. Everyone was in agreement that the cabin could not have been better for our stay. It was charming, big, clean, and all around incredible. We were easily able to cook for everyone in the kitchen, there was a warm and inviting living room with space for us to play games at night, and there was plenty of space for all of us to sleep. You can see Lake Superior from the windows and it’s a quick jaunt down to the coast. Our group explored down there and at night were able to do some star gazing as well. A few of us skied and the resort was only a few minutes away. Many of us explored the nearby trails and Grand Marais as well. Becky was incredibly responsive and a fantastic host both before and during our stay. Any of us would highly recommend this cabin!

Owner's Response: Hi Mark, Wow thanks for such a great review. I know you must be super busy to with all of your studies. Both Jim and I were so glad you and the whole crew were happy with the layout of the house, We try to keep things spacious but cozy and easy to get around. The star gazing that time of year is fantastic and I love the sunrises as well. Especially since you don't have to get up too early to see them. The trails every time of year are neat to hike around on and you don't even have to leave the property to do a little exploring. Have a great rest of the school year and hope to hear from you and your group for another study break get away. Sincerely, Becky and Jim

Owner's Response: Hi Brian, You are very welcome and thank you for your review. It is great being right on the lake, it is so different every time I go. Sometimes its just like glass and other times just wild with waves crashing. I've stood in the yard area and felt the spray off the rocks on those days. Thanks for staying with us and we hope to have you back soon, Becky and Jim

Beautiful property

  • 4 of 5

Had a big mouse issue the whole weekend.

Totally was a turnoff!!

No toilet paper was to be found anywhere in the home. Had to make a special run for that.

The home was not as clean as it was when we rented it in the past. Disappointed with that.

Owner's Response: Both Jim and I are absolutely horrified that you had this experience at our home. I have already been in touch with our exterminator and cleaning crew. Cleanliness wise I know our usual person is on maternity leave but there really is no excuse for any of this. Toilet paper should always be provided, had I known I could have told you how to get in the basement to take some from our stock down there. We are both so sorry for all of this and hope you'll give us another chance some time to make it up to you. Sincerely, Becky and Jim ****Just wanted to follow up with you and let you know that the mouse has been dealt with and the hole he must have been coming and going through fixed. The substitute cleaning person was trained again but moved to a different part of the maintenance company where he is a better fit. More T.P. was brought up from our supply in the basement and restocked. Thank you for your insights, Becky and Jim

Absolutely adored the place. So quaint and beautiful view.

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent 3 nights over the Christmas weekend. Skied lutsen one day and relaxed the next day at Twin Cedars.

The place was clean, well stocked for food preparation. The 2 bedrooms and beds were comfortable. We absolutely loved that we could bring our dog of 12 years. She appreciated the views of the outdoors. Definitely would stay there again.

Owner's Response: Hello Rosemary, Thank you for your review and we are thrilled you and your pup enjoyed Twin Cedars so much. I love being up there over the holidays with all the decorations and festivities. I especially love a good snowfall while I'm there. You can sit in the Aframe and watch the snow fly at night, it feels like you are in your own cozy snow globe. Hope to have you back soon, All the best, Becky and JIm

Amazing vacation hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed at many cabins from Lutsen up through Grand Marais over the last 30 years. We all agreed this was our favorite. It has everything you could possibly need including a first aid kit for your dog. It's beautifully decorated and very cozy. The pictures don't do it justice.

The property is very large with a stream and waterfalls. It has a magical feel. We even saw deer walk across the back!

Becky was a great host and very responsive. We had to change the dates before we went and she was very flexible. When we got there, the fireplace wasn't working. We texted her and she had someone come to fix it within15-20 minutes.

We hope to come back when it's warmer than 12 below, so we can take advantage of the property. We can't say enough about this wonderful place!

Owner's Response: Hi Jeri, Thanks so much for your amazing review. We really appreciate you taking the time to do that and I am so glad you and your group enjoyed the house and property as much as we do. We would love to have you all back soon. The yard is so pretty in the spring and all summer long with it's wild flowers and the ledge rock on the water. The dogs have a great time running up and down the shore biting at the waves or just hanging out at the campfire by the little stream. Hope to hear from you again, All the best, Becky and Jim
