Garfield Corbin Park Neighborhood

Bedrooms 2
Space 912 sq ft
Property type house

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Sleeps 4

Cute as a button! Convenient to downtown. Large living room with beautiful cove ceilings. 2 bedrooms & 1 updated bathroom. Beautifully updated kitchen includes new cabinets, granite counters and eating nook. The home is located in the Garfield/Corbin Park neighborhood which is a historic Spokane neighborhood with most homes built in the 1920's and 1930's. The Corbin neighborhood is a safe neighborhood where neighbors know neighbors. The alley behind the Guest house is paved allowing for convenient off street parking. Getting to the house from I90 is very easy and the house is really centrally located to all of Spokane. In the summer the backyard is the place to hang out with it's towering maple trees creating a beautiful canopy to read or relax under.

About Charlie Archer

love craftsman houses so much that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to purchase this charming 1930's home. I am a Real Estate agent and love helping my friends and family find their own places to call their own. My husband and I live across the alley from our guest house so we are always available to our guests should they need anything.

Charlie Archer purchased this house in 2016

Why Charlie Archer chose Spokane

After buying our first home in this neighborhood in 2015 we just fell in love with the charm of the craftsman homes and our wonderful neighbors. When our neighbors decided to put this home on the market in 2016 we decided since it was right across the alley it was the perfect property. Since buying the property we have had all new electrical installed, new plumbing and new lighting. It has all the conveniences of a modern home with the charm of a 1930's house.

What makes this house unique

The modern kitchen really was the biggest selling point. New cabinets, granite counters and lots of space to cook with make it fun to cook in. The second big plus was the location. Since the home is only 5 minutes from downtown, the arena, and Gonzaga university it is perfect for most of our guests. We love that we have a quiet neighborhood but can run to any number of nice restaurants, Trader Joes, or a live performance in less than 10 minutes.

This was my first VRBO experience. I was disappointed, but 90% of my disappointment was with things that can be easily fixed. This is a nice property, but its potential is significantly unrealized. The home's location is wonderful!! The bed (back bedroom) was comfortable. The home was well-stocked. The rear deck is nice. Off-street parking is a plus. The one problem that cannot be fixed is street noise from Washington Avenue. Problems that can be fixed include the following. Inconsistent communication with Charlie. Inconsistent cleaning. The living room furniture should be replaced TODAY!!! I brought a lawn chair in and used it in the living room. The front screen door needs repair. The one small window AC in the living room works very hard to cool the home. I closed off the bathroom and unused bedroom to help the AC. When first entering the home (with suitcases, etc.) be careful not to fall into the basement. In summary, it's a nice little home and it needs some work. With some reservation I recommend it.

This is a perfect place for what we needed

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this house! It was perfect for us and we enjoyed having the space to move around (rather than stay in a hotel). Charlie responded to all of our inquiries within about 1 minute and other than one question, we had everything we needed. Clean, remodeled and exactly as advertised. We'll definitely be back!

Adorably amazing!!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for 5 nights (4 people) and it felt like home the moment we walked through the door! Charlie was easy to deal with and cheerfully helped when we managed to lock ourselves out! The AC worked great! Perfect location. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again! Thanks Charlie!!!

Centrally located in Spokane and Internet a plus, but no parking with no access to front /street side of home, only rear. LOTS of loud traffic noise from the busy arterial (Washington) the home faces. The only 2 pieces of furniture in living room were "unsitable, extremely dirty, old, dillapitated and VERY uncomfortable". Needs REPLACING (not washing) NOW. The most comfortable chair was a metal folding kitchen chair. Beds were average. LOTS of fly's (requested a fly swatter; got it 3 days later). Communication NOT the best. LARGE ants in home. Limited TV, 3 local stations only. Could have used a hamper or SOMETHING to place our dirty clothes in. No clothes dressers in either bedroom. Bathtub drain leaked and tub would not hold water. Shower part was good. There was food left over in the freezer and refrigerator from previous guests occupancy. Perhaps this review will serve as an incentive for the owner(s) to "step up their game", become more involved and realize that there is more to this than just "collecting the money" and that there are changes/additions they need to make in order to make this older home somewhat comfortable. We realize we didn't rent a "palace"; but our expectations about this proprty from the pictures and listing were most surely NOT met.

This place was perfect. There was room for everyone to have privacy. I hope this place is available the next time we come back for basketball camp.
