Private, peaceful, surrounded by a beautiful rain forest, Garzas lake is 15 minutes away and Charca Rio el Ataud is just 20 minutes away!
By far, my favorite destination. I never hesitate taking the decision to return. The cabin and its surroundings are always perfect. The place, the atmosphere and weather can not be better.
The impeccable coordination of directions and having the caretaker meet you for a quick grocery run prior to getting to the house was wonderful. The house was so nice! But you will find yourself mostly outside enjoying the lush surroundings. Thank you Frank and Isabel for a great week.

This property is everything and more than I could ask for. The cabin has everything that you will need for your stay. It was wonderful to sit out on the patio at night and in the hot tub and stargaze. It took us about four days to figure out that the noise that we kept hearing from the frogs were not birds, they were awesome. If you want a relaxing time you can stay at the cabin or it's a great location to travel any part of Puerto Rico. We spent one full day at the cabin and all the other days we went to each corner of Puerto Rico from the cabin. As you travel around the towns in Puerto Rico you'll notice that there are a lot of houses close together, but this cabin is in a world of its own. You are completely surrounded by beautiful landscaping that feels all natural, above the cute town of adjuntas. The owners were wonderful and will help you with anything you need, the care taker of the property is also a very nice man. I can't wait to bring the kids next time. We absolutely loved staying here. 5+ stars
Thank you from,
Heather & Jon
If you want to be in the center of the action, this is not the place for you. If, on the other hand, you are looking for some cool, tranquil getaway in PR, you will be very happy at the cabaña. It is about 90 minutes from SJU over good roads to Adjuntas; we got coming out of the airport (my fault--don't forget the GPS), so it took about 2 hours. The owner provided great directions to Adjuntas, where we met up with the caretaker who led us the last 5 miles or so over narrow, winding mountain roads (all paved until the cabin grounds)--not recommended at night!
The grounds are beautifully landscaped and maintained. They are designed to maximize outdoor living, with a jacuzzi, gas grill, fireplace and outdoor seating under a large, tiled covered porch, plus some patios with thatch gazebo and a new treehouse. Lots of wildlife sounds (owls, frogs, etc.), especially at night. The house is rustic, but very comfortable, with small, well equipped/stocked kitchen, two small bedrooms sharing a bath, and a large master with ensuite. The master has an air conditioner, but we did not need it, thanks to the elevation and shade. The showers have hot water, although the sinks do not.
It may take a couple of trips to remember the route to/from Adjuntas. There is a decent grocery store, and we fixed almost all of our meals at the cabin rather than driving back from dinner after dark, so not sure about the dining options other than Burger King next to the grocery store. And, we didn't really want to leave the cabin.
There are a few other homes within walking distance, but you will have a hard time seeing or hearing them from the cabin. If you are really adventurous, you could try some jungle hiking, but it is mostly dense jungle and steep terrain. Walking on the road back out to the "highway" is a good chance to see the countryside in a non-strenuous way. The towns of Utuado and Jayuya on the Ruta Panoramica are within 45 minutes; Ponce and the south coast are probably a bit closer if you have the urge to hit the beach.
The owner speaks/writes excellent English, and communicated very well with us, in spite of my attempts to practice my bad Spanish. He is obviously proud of the property, and with good reason. My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the cabin muchìsimo, and hope we can return someday.
If you're looking for a private mountain retreat, look no further! Located about 20 minutes from Adjuntas, the cabin is a nature-lover's dream. After relaxing in the hot tub and watching the stars, fall asleep to the sounds of the forest.
The kitchen is well stocked, and firewood was even provided for the outdoor fireplace (although it was too wet to use). The furnishings were comfortable, providing ample room for 4-5 people. We spent most of our time relaxing on the front patio.
I would suggest including information about local restaurants and attractions in the instructions folder. Adjuntas has much to offer travelers but without internet or gps (which doesn't work in this region) but it can be very challenging to find. Directions to the lake, local waterfalls, hiking trails, and a bit of info about what to look for in town would make the cabin more of a vacation destination rather than simply a retreat.
Pride of ownership is evident through out the cabin and grounds of this wonderful piece of property. Attention to detail provided a comfortable, loving feel that makes one never want to leave. If it had not been for our guests, (who scheduled to visit last minute) we never would have left the grounds.
The cabin has everything you need and more! The cooler evening temps were welcomed with a cozy fire or a soak in the hot tub. Days were spent observing and enjoying the amazing flora and fauna. Long walks down the winding mountain roads were priceless! Ponce is just a short drive away and the beaches of Guanica are definitely worth a visit.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the owners for sharing this special place with us. The mountain cabin has our highest recommendations!
The cabin is bordered by a national forest reserved, a perfect location for meditation, relaxation, and rest. It is truly a treasure for those who want to be away from it all!
