Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cabin in Black Hills - Creek Side Cabin

Two bedroom, rustic cabin newly remodeled with full kitchen-sleeps 6+

This cabin is nestled next to the famous French Creek in which gold was first found in the city of Custer. It is within walking distance to downtown Custer. It has a beautiful new deck with gas grill and propane outside fireplace. Multi-vehicle car-port just added to park vehicles, motorcycles in! City park with playground is next door. It has two bedrooms, the master has one queen log bed and second room has a bunk bed with a full and twin set up, couch in living room turns into a full bed. There is a room off the living room that has a set of twin bunk beds, there is no dresser. Kitchen has coffee pot, toaster, microwave, stove and refrigerator. Living room has flat screen t.v., cable and Wi-fi. Spacious outside deck with table and six chairs, front patio area has new wicker furniture, also has a propane fireplace on deck and a gas grill.

The Mickelson Trail runs over 100 miles long from Edgemont to Lead and is just out the cabin front door.

There is fishing, swimming and boating available at four area lakes, Sylvan, Bismarck, Legion and Stockade, these are all within 1-15 miles from cabin.

There are two world class caves in the area which offer cave and spelunking tours. Wind Cave National Park is approximately 15 miles away and Jewel Cave National Monument is approximately 7 miles away.

There is a local golf course in Custer and is just a mile away! There is also a golf course in Hot Springs which is only a 30 minute drive through Wind Cave National Park.

You may see Buffalo roaming in both Wind Cave National Park and Custer State Park.

Comfortable and well equipped for family of 7

  • 5 of 5

The location was ideal for what ended up being all our favorite sites on our first trip to SD. The cabin was also comfortable and well thought out for a family of seven.

Family friendly cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay with our 3 grandsons, ages 10, 10 and 9. Everything was clean, kitchen had all the equipment you would need to cook simple meals. The Hollands went above and beyond to be be sure everything was as we expected. Location is great, easy to walk to shops, restaurants. Park is right there for kids to play.

A wonderful place for a family to stay

  • 4 of 5

We had a very pleasant stay. If our travels take us back to Custer, we will be booking this again. With our elementary-aged children, it was very handy to have the town playground right outside. We did a lot of driving during our stay to the various attractions and the playground was a great place for our kids to let off pent-up energy. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept great. The cabin's inside table only comfortably seats 4. This wasn't a problem for us, but something other guests might want to know given that the cabin sleeps 7. In the warmer months, the large deck and patio are a perfect place to dine and can accommodate more people.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the nice review! The city park ext door is a great plus. It's nice to sit on the back deck and watch the kids play in the park too! So glad you enjoyed the cabin. In reference to the table, there is a table leaf for the table and extra chairs in the small bedrooms closet, I will check and make sure that information is in the cabin welcome book. Please come back and stay with us again, we would love to have you! Thanks again, Tim and Dawn

Cabin Sweet Cabin

  • 5 of 5

The minute we walked into the Creekside Cabin, we knew we had made the right decision.

The Holland's have done an awesome job of decorating this little gem. From the wildlife print rugs, valances, shower curtain, bedspread and even the taxidermy duck in the living room, it felt as though we had walked into a high class cabin in the woods. Surrounded by pine trees, a small city park, alongside a creek with a bridge going across for a quick walk into town and many restaurants only a few blocks away. All the sites are within close driving distance from Rapid City, Deadwood, Lead, Hilly City, Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Keystone, and everywhere in between.

The kitchen had everything imaginable if you want to cook "in."

The deck on the side of the cabin overlooks the creek. And there are wonderful and comfortable wicker chairs and loveseat in the front.

Loved the "mudroom" where you could take off shoes and coats and hang them up before going into the cabin.

The only very minor downside was not enough light in the living room and the chains for the ceiling fan that were too high up to reach. A light over the table and at the end of the couch would make it much easier to read and plan out your next days' activities.

We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Thanks, Tim & Dawn, for a wonderful experience staying at your cozy cabin! The cabin had everything our family needed to make ourselves at home, and relax while we enjoyed our stay in Custer and the surrounding area. From the availability of the kitchen appliances and gadgets to the convenience of a washer and dryer - we had everything we needed to feel at home, yet didn't feel like we were living out of our suitcases in a hotel. The cabin was very clean, and the location was ideal for walking to the stores and restaurants in Custer. It was a great place/central location for our day trips, and we'd definitely recommend this cozy cabin to others!

This was our first experience using a VBRO, and Tim & Dawn made it an exceptional experience. When we had trouble with the wifi, Tim was at the cabin with a repair person within a few hours to replace the router. Dawn was very helpful with all my questions, and provided some great information about the surrounding area. Very quick to respond and very helpful service. Thank you!
