Retreat setting with peace and quiet, ocean and sunset views and hot tub.
I have been living on this property in the Carmel Highlands for over 30 years. I love the long views out to the ocean; the sunsets are amazing and even more so, I love watching the moon set and reflect on the ocean. It is a quiet and peaceful retreat to come back to.
This property is in a quiet and serene setting just minutes south of Carmel and on the coast. You can walk from the house to the ocean and do a 45 minute loop. My husband and I, our daughter and her boyfriend, were lucky enough to spend a week at Karin's place. From the moment we pulled up at this home perched on a hill nestled in the trees, we know the photos did not do the home justice. The plantings frame a beautiful cedar-shingle home which while modest from the outside, opens to a space with soaring ceilings and generous, open spaces flooded with light from ample skylights. The kitchen was a dream...everything an avid cook needs, down to a well-cared for cast iron skillet awaiting me on top of the professional gas range. The view from the deck was stunning, and we were visited by a group of deer one day and a family of quail on another. We hiked at Point Lobos (stunning) and several other trails within a 20 minute drive -some of the most beautiful vistas I've ever seen. The town of Carmel is charming with more to see and places to shop than we had time for. Monterey aquarium, wine tasting, fabulous restaurants - so much to do! Beds very comfortable and everything was meticulously clean and pleasing. Best way to describe the attention to detail and comfort of Karin's home is to say the place is well-loved. The hot tub terrace with hot shower was just an added bonus. We've used VRBO in Europe, Central America and all over the US. This is one of my top two picks.
The home was all it was advertised plus more. Lovely touches, like fresh flowers made it so special. Well equipped with way much more than could be expected, clean and comfortable. Extras like spa robes, movies, games for rainy days made it just that bit better. Karin was a gracious hostess, letting us know she was available but not overbearing.
We had a great three nights, not nearly long enough - but a good break nevertheless! Hope to return for longer
From the moment you pull into the drive you know you've landed in a piece of heaven. You feel all the love and care put into this beautiful property. I was highly impressed with even the slightest details that help make this home a perfect retreat. From the placement of each foot rug to the alignment of art on the walls, Karin thought of it all. Whether it’s FENG SHUI or OCD, everything had it’s perfect place! The home itself has amazing skylights and windows allowing in the perfect amount of light while providing fantastic views of the treetops. Although it is listed as a two bedroom, there is a third bed/open sleeping area perfectly placed downstairs beneath a large window overlooking the calla lilies in the yard. Utensils galore, you will need nothing more than your groceries to enjoy the fully stocked kitchen. Bring a pair of slippers or house socks to avoid cold feet as this is a no-shoe home. Thank you Karin! We hope to stay again next year.
I had a wonderful stay at Karin's place with my partner and another couple for the 2017 new year. The house is located on the hill as part of a very quiet neighborhood. Karin did a great job decorating the house. We especially like the patio with the outlook for the ocean, sunset and you can hear the bird singing everyday. Two things I would point out is that the bedrooms are right next to each other and share one bathroom. Another one is that the deposit refund happens 7 days after the stay. Otherwise, I would recommend anyone to stay here for a quiet get-away!
Karin has a beautiful home that is very well taken care of. From the top floor kitchen and living room, to the warm bedrooms below, the house is very comfy. The outside patio with a hot tub makes for a wonderful private scene to relax and watch the sunset. We spent 3 nights here at the start of the new year and loved every minute.
The house is very clean and bright. Excellent working fireplace. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds. There is only one full bath and a half bath so two couples must be friendly. Wonderful place to sit and read. The only drawback is returning to the house after dark when you must make a tricky left turn off Hwy 1 , but we got used to it. You have to drive into Carmel, can't walk. The views and quiet are worth it.
