Upon entering the stables you are immediately taken by the beauty of the space.Where once English quarter horses were housed you will find a luxurious one bedroom apartment complete with cooks kitchen, bedroom with queen size bed, a spacious living room with original plank floors and library gallery. The classic leather couch and furnishings add to the charm of the space.,there is an unbelievable dining room with the original massive work table beautifully re-purposed for fine dining. The old feed room is now a pristine white tiled bathroom with large stall shower and fine white towels. The equestrian theme is throughout.
The original wainscotted walls were patiently restored to their original rich brown color and the french doors and barn windows bring in natural light. The rooms are wonderfully lit for the evening also.
Built in 1931, the carriage house stables were part of a great English tudor estate. The main house on the property is a treasure. There were three owners since built, the previous one owning the property for more than forty years. As years passed, it fell into disrepair and was in a sad state when the current owners, angelo and tony came along. Now fully restored to it's former glory, some say even better than ever, you will find a serene private setting incomparable to anything in the surrounding area.
Take the time to relax on your stone patio furnished with lovely garden table and chairs and enjoy the gardens and view. Perhaps alfresco dining with a glass of wine.
A stay at the carriage house stables or the beautiful loft apartment above will be a truly memorable experience.
Angelo and Tony have been using vacation rental properties for their travels for years. Tired of sitting on a bed in a hotel room, they enjoy shopping for food and creating a feast with what the local markets have to offer.
They have stayed in each of their vacation rentals many times to be sure it all works flawlessly with no surprises. We take the time to see that our guests have a great experience staying here.
People born and raised in Kingston do not know this area exists. We are on the edge of town with views of horses in the field and the mountains in the distance. A rare and beautiful spot, most say the felt as though they were transported to another part of the world.
Peace and quiet but minutes away from restaurants, shops, the waterfront and all of what the Hudson valley has to offer.
What a treasure! You have attended to every need and the level of care that went into every aspect of making guests feel comfortable and at home is truly amazing. We could not have asked for a better place to stay and your warm welcome just added to the warmth of your carriage house(stables) Our heartfelt thanks!
We stayed at the Stables for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It's a charming apartment that is well-decorated and well-maintained. The bed is very comfortable, the kitchen well-equipped, the shower is roomy (even if the bathroom is a bit small), and everything works! The setting is quite special -- you feel like you are out in the country but in actuality you are five minutes from the Kingston Uptown neighborhood which has a variety of restaurants and bars, as well as the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning. Angelo and Tony are wonderful hosts -- they met us with a bottle of Prosecco and two bubble glasses, and were happy to answer our questions and give us advice on what to see and where to go. It's easy to understand why they have repeat visitors, and we will be back too!
As a rider, I loved staying in The Stables! It was the perfect haven to relax at after being at the HITS horse show all day. The decor has been really well put together to give off a cozy equestrian vibe. The kitchen was really well stocked, with Angelo thoughtfully leaving coffee and a bottle of wine for us. Everything you could need for a nice, comfortable stay is in this place. Highly recommend!
This property looked better in person than it even did on the internet. Just what we wanted - quiet, spacious, and a great kitchen. And a great location for looking at the historic sites on both sides of the river - from Hudson to Hyde Park. We have already recommended this property to folks traveling in that area. Hope we can visit again soon.
It's even more beautiful than the photos on HomeAway, with charm coming out its ears! It's also clean, quiet (it's at the end of a dead-end street), well-proportioned (we were a couple), warm (we stayed during a cold January weekend), and close to everything Kingston and the area has to over. Thanks, guys!
My boyfriend and I stayed at Angelo and Tony's stables in the carriage house for 3 nights in mid-June this year. Angelo was delightful to deal with from the beginning and gave us a warm welcome as we pulled up. This is truly the most charming and beautiful place we have ever stayed. The hosts have obviously taken every detail in account in transforming the stables into a lovely apartment while still preserving the history of the place. Everything in the apartment is of the very highest quality. We loved the choices we had - to have a glass of wine on the outside patio, eat breakfast in the very comfortable screened porch, play cards at the incredible farmer's table (large enough to seat at least 16), relax in the leather couch and chairs in the living room, cook a full meal in the perfectly outfitted full kitchen, etc. During our stay, we had the feeling that we had stepped into the past, and we even hoped to come upon a horse in the bedroom, which used to be a large stall. We never wanted to leave this place! Thank you Angelo and Tony!
My husband and I wanted to get away someplace different for our anniversary and I am so glad we did! The pictures of the property are lovely but seeing it in person was amazing. Angelo was wonderful during the booking process, and once we arrived gave many suggestions of places to eat and things to do. Just a walk around the neighborhood was great; the view was amazing. I would recommend this cozy spot to anyone. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay; we didn't want to leave!
