Overview

Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday lodge in Shasta Cascade - Lassen Lodge

Sumptuous relaxation and fun with space for everyone!

Custom built log cabin with over 5,700 square feet of luxurious comfort. From the high log beam ceilings to the grand windows, your eyes will be delighted with the beauty that surrounds you. Our home is 3 stories, with the two upper stories open to our guests. The basement is reserved for the owners when they come to stay but is always vacant while guests are at the lodge. The two upper stories have wood burning fire places for those chilly mornings or cozy evenings. Two bedrooms with King sized beds are on the lower level, each with their own full bathroom. Two additional bedrooms with Queen sized beds along with the game room with two twin beds and the master loft with a double bed are upstairs and share a full bathroom. The upstairs TV room has a very comfortable air-spring hide a bed and the game room has a queen futon. Four decks wrap the different levels of the home allowing most rooms access to the outdoors. We have many seating areas on the decks with comfortable chairs and tables. The roof look-out deck is one of our favorite places to escape for a glass of wine or game of cards.

Our kitchen is large enough for the entire family to take part in making meals and creating memories. The large dining table and ample seating at the bar allows everyone to dine together.

The home is on a sleepy lane with a gorgeous meadow full of wild flowers across the street. It is perfect for a morning walk or bike ride with the kids.

You will find all kinds of beautiful wildlife in the woods surrounding the house.

Lake McCumber is just 5 minutes from our home, and Lassen Volcanic Park just 10 minutes away. This is the perfect location for outdoor adventures, family reunions or get away retreats!

The lodge has neighbors on both sides who are permanent residents. This is not an isolated 'party cabin' and quiet hours must be respected. We need to honor our neighbors and their families. Loud drunken parties will not be tolerated.

About Heidi

The gorgeous Lassen Lodge is shared by three families. The men have been best friends and fishing and hunting buddies for decades. We purchased the home as a place our families could go for retreats and celebrations and decided to share it with the rest of the world.

Heidi purchased this lodge in 2012

Why Heidi chose Shasta Cascade

The Lassen area is so stunning with it's natural beauty, hiking trails, snowmobiling access and fishing abundance. We live in Redding and enjoy the higher elevation for cooler weather in the Summer and snow in the Winter. We have decorated the home with special items and furniture from each of our families to bring a warm welcome to our guests and friends.

What makes this lodge unique

Luxury abounds in every detail of this home. Many of the sinks are gorgeous hammered copper. Radiant floor heating creates a natural, very comfortable temperature control. The star gazing lookout on the roof is a special place to relax with hot cocoa or a glass of wine.

Guestbook comments from the manager

What a blessing to behold! Every inch of this beautiful castle in the pines is exquisitely decorated, and comfort abounds! Our family has two wheel chair bound adults and it is difficult to find vacation rentals that are handicap accessible. Your home fit our every need with the spacious rooms, wide door ways and wheelchair ramp to the front door, especially the roll in shower! Thank you for sharing your wonderful home! We will look forward to returning soon.

Lassen Lodge was awesome!

  • 5 of 5

The online photos do not do justice to how impressive the home is. Lots of space for everyone, adults and kids alike. The large kitchen and dining area was a popular gathering spot while preparing meals in the chef's dream environment. If you long for peace, quiet, and nature this is definitely the place to rekindle those longings. The proximity to Lassen National Park and Forest made for some excellent hikes and views of majestic Mt. Lassen. A nice selection of kids movies was available as well, which all enjoyed on the second floor great room with a nice wood fire to ensure comfort. Speaking of which the supply of wood to use for the two fireplaces was perfect and greatly appreciated. We only had three days and wish we had booked for more, no one was ready to leave. Some of the family members are considering booking for up coming outings. Heidi thanks for opening your home and we look forward to future gatherings at Lassen Lodge.

Couldn't be happier

  • 5 of 5

I used the lodge as a location for a surprise birthday sleepover for my husband and our friends.. it was more than i could have hoped! From the minute we walked into the door we loved everything about the place! It is rustic in style but modern and detailed and everything feels like genuine quality! The central living room is warm and inviting.. perfect for hanging out, playing games and passing time. We loved having a fire in the fireplace and the beautiful windows and height of the ceiling were just perfect. The guys loved playing pool upstairs. The kitchen was great for feeding 16 and was enjoyable to have people be able to sit at the bar while the rest cooked. There was certainly bedding for everyone but only four private(ish) rooms. Five slept in the rec room upstairs which was fun for them, but definitely not alone.

We went on a long walk down the road.. everything was beautiful! Snow on the ground and beautiful trees and homes. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.. and everyone that came wanted to rent it out for themselves! What a wonderful memory we made, thank you for the perfect setting!

Fantastic Home/Fantastic Location

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our second Thanksgiving at the Lassen Lodge. The home is very well appointed and comfortable. Kitchen works well and is well appointed. We traveled with my sister's family (four kids and four adults) and the house perfectly accommodates the group - with several different spaces to read, watch movies, play games and just hang out (include a great game room with a pool table). The setting is truly spectacular and we were treated to a snowy Thanksgiving in the woods this year. Very easy access to Lassen National Forest and some great hikes. Highly recommend to anyone interested in exploring this beautiful area. The owners are very responsive and easy to work with. Can't wait to go back again!

Beautiful lodge in a serene setting!

  • 5 of 5

My family of five really enjoyed our summer vacation at the Lassen Lodge. The house is so beautifully decorated with attention to every detail to make for a comfortable stay. It is spacious and designed so a large group could enjoy time together or have some space for themselves. The kitchen is large and I found everything I would want to make some great family meals. We particularly enjoyed the pool table and the rooftop lookout. We happened to be at the house to enjoy the Perseid's meteor shower which was amazing. I would definitely recommend this property for a family or group get-a-way. The area is very nice and we enjoyed fishing and exploring Lassen. I found it very easy to communicate with the property owner to work out the details of our stay. Definitely a five-star luxury experience all around.

Great Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

A group of us went up on a staff retreat and we were blown away by the beauty and accommodations of this lodge. The staff was really easy to work with and the lodge was just perfect. I have already and will continue to recommend this lodge to others. I hope to come back with family before too long.

Secluded Luxury is the perfect description

  • 5 of 5

Lassen Lodge is a huge, beautify built and decorated log "cabin" in a little community 10 minutes from the Lassen Park northwest entrance. It is situated back from the road amongst other upscale houses, across from a charming farm in a large fenced meadow.

There were only 5 of us, so the house actually felt too large, but would be great for several families (there is only one master bedroom, and 2 other bathrooms, though). They have a big game room with a pool table, and a nice bar area (we didn't use either).

The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, etc. -- you'll have to hunt through the many drawers and cabinets, but you can probably find whatever you need. There's a great stove, nice fridge and big washer and dryer.

One jarring note for us was how strident the owners were in their instructions about their stuff, wanting to know each person who was coming, etc. Maybe it's because large groups use the house, but it made it feel somewhat sterile.

Some notes for if you visit here:

- The area is rather isolated, with no cell signal for many miles, but there is a phone in the house you can use.

- The wifi mostly works, but is satellite-based, and not suitable for streaming video or audio books. So, plan to download these before you arrive. The long, complicated wifi password is ridiculous, BTW.

- For groceries, there is a huge, new Safeway in Anderson that has everything, and a funky older one in Burney that has most things. (We didn't use the little market in Shingletown.)

- Lassen is super dark, and the star-gazing at night is at times spectacular. The house has a nice deck up on the roof where you can see the milky way, passing satellites, etc.

- There are a million light switches in the house, which you'll need to use, as some parts of the house are quite dim. Luckily, they've labelled most of them, but plan to hunt to find the ones for outside.

The pristine Lassen Volcanic National Park is just minutes from your door step. Any time of year the park is stunning. Snow shoeing around Manzanita Lake during the Winter is one of our favorite activities. Hiking, fishing, picnicking, bird watching and exploring all corners of the exquisite park is enjoyable for all ages.

Battle creek reservoir is amazing for fishing in Summer or ice fishing in the Winter months. Lake McCumber is 5 minutes from our door step and is peaceful for canoeing or fishing.

Notes:
We have a great fire pit in the back yard for roasting marshmallows, singing songs and telling tall tales! The Lassen Lodge is nestled in a grove of trees and is very well insulated. The lodge is not equipped with an air conditioner because most days of the year it is not necessary. There are a few days in the summer months that the lodge may get to the mid 70’s inside. We use the whole house fan twice a day to drop the internal temperature and then close the windows. The switch for the whole house fan is labeled and located by the light switches in the game room on the top floor of the lodge. First thing in the morning, open a screened window in 4 different regions of the lodge and turn on the fan. After a 15-20 minute run, or until you are satisfied with the cooler temperature, turn off the fan and close the windows. The lodge should stay close to that temperature the remainder of the day. After it cools in the evening, repeat the process and the house will cool again. Please be s
