This brand new apartment is inside the Castle building located at Oceanfront boardwalk and across from the famous Belmont Park. There are retailers downstairs and many shops around, bars, restaurants and much more in the Bay area. Downtown San Diego is easy to reach from here (15 minutes by car) and so are most of San Diego's attractions such as Sea World (5 minutes), Legoland (30 minutes)and the San Diego Zoo (20 minutes).

This comfortable apartment offers everything you need for a great escape right on the beach, and recently I added a portable AC inside the bedroom. You will enjoy the romantic getaways, or just the beach atmosphere in the heart of Mission Beach. This brand new apartment features a fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances and slab white granite counters. There are plasma TVs in the bedroom and in the living room - with DVD and portable AC in the Bedroom. The living area gives you a breathtaking ocean view. The bathroom has two sinks top and a bathtub There are washer and dryer in the unit.

Sleeping arrangements include one comfortable queen bed and a pull out sofa in the living room. This unit is ideal for a family of 4 ( 2 adults/2 kids) . No private parties with more than maximum occupancy is allowed in the unit.

There is a designated parking spot detached from the building (about 150-200 feet away) for 1 large car or 2 small cars ( tandem parking), but lots of parking spaces surrounding the area - one handicapped parking across the street. We provide linens and towels, beach towels, beach toys, 2 chairs and umbrella. Wireless Internet is provided with no extra cost to you - bring your laptop! There are security cameras outdoors and power generator in the building.

Small Pets allowed ~ needs approval from owner. Pet Policy is enforced (vaccines and flea medication up to date) There is boarding pet fee ( non-refundable) of $ 50 per pet - maximum 2 pets ( max. 40 lbs). Pet cleaning fee of $ 195.00.

Thanks to one of our guest's suggestion, a screening door has been installed recently to allow more ocean breeze coming from the front door into the apartment.

Mission-Beach is a San Diego favorite among locals and visitors alike. It lies between Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean and has nearly two miles of beautiful white sandy beach. The area is filled with pastel colored houses, condos, old style cottages, beach apartments and hotels. The colorful Boardwalk at Mission Beach runs for three miles ending north of Pacific Beach and is always filled with bicyclists, runners, skateboarders and Rollerblade, and has designated lanes for walking. You can engage in people watching and sunbathing on Mission Beach, or the more strenuous activities of swimming, surfing, body boarding and kayaking. The southern part of Mission Beach is known for its' beach volleyball. To the east lies Mission Bay, which contains two islands with many coves and inlets, and has a large marina for pleasure boaters, and facilities for picnics, camping and fishing. One special point of interest at Mission Beach is Belmont Park, once the site of an amusement park that now is home to shops and restaurants, and a completely restored roller-coaster. This 73 foot wooden roller-coaster called the 'Big Dipper' was built in 1925, closed in 1976 and reopened in 1990. Everything is convenient for visitors to Mission Beach; just two blocks east are coffeehouses, fast food, taco shops, ethnic food or fine dining. Bicycles and in-line skates are both available for rent on the Boardwalk right below our Vacation rentals which is located inside a Mission Beach historical landmark: The Hamels Castle!

Note: Mission Beach is also known as the place for families and young groups; if you are noise sensitive you probably should research more before making a commitment to stay in this area.

Perfect accommodations and perfect location!!!!

I can’t say enough. Very nice, modern condo that is located in the perfect location if you are interested in the “beach” lifestyle. Sand, surf, bikes, food, night life and even an amusement park!! Besides the condo, I loved the easy communication with the owner(s). I hope to get back soon!!!!

The Castle is the perfect spot to relax

I stayed in the 1BR condo at the Castle for a short getaway to San Diego and had a fantastic vacation. The location was perfect. I took an Uber to/from the airport and could walk every else I needed to go. I simply had to walk down the stairs to go for a jog or walk on the boardwalk. The beach was so close that I could leave my things behind when I went back to the castle for lunch. Belmont park and great restaurants were also just steps away.

The condo itself is really nice. The kitchen is updated and has everything you need. The washer and dryer are very nice and allowed me to pack (very) lightly for the trip. And there's a large flat screen TV in the living area with a nice view of the park/beach. I did call Claudia to ask a (silly) question about the washer/dryer and she was very helpful. This property was exactly what I was looking for. I highly recommend it.

Great stay on the beach!

Apartment was very clean and had everything necessary to enjoy our time. We ended up spending considerably more time at the beach than we thought we would because of the beach chairs that were there for use. Overall, a great experience and very centrally located to everything you would want to see in San Diego.

Fantastic location! Wonderful lodging!

We had the best time while in San Diego. This apartment had it all!

The beach is literally right out your door! Lots of great food on the same block and easy to get too many of the local attractions.

Claudia and her team took great care of us both before and while we were there for our 6 day stay. I would stay here again and highly recommend this unit!

End of Summer getaway

This was an extremely lengthy process to be able to rent this unit taking almost 2 weeks to complete and it would take days to get any kind of email answered. They wanted me to text a copy of my ID no other secure way to do it??? and when I asked why I was told for check in purposes, but no one was there on arrival to verify that it was me checking in.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights Sept. 7-11 for an end of summer getaway. It's in a fantastic area with tons of stuff within walking distance to the apartment. It is a very nice cozy little apartment with a cute tiny balcony off of the living room.

Upon arrival the apartment was extremely HOT, there was not one window open or one fan turned on and it was unusually warm in the area for September. We almost left for a hotel room for the night but decided to turn the portable "a/c" unit on and try and cool off the bedroom area, it did help but not too much the first night. After that, we left the bedroom door closed and the a/c unit on the entire time we were there and it was bearable. I do have to say there was an awful smell in the bedroom from the a/c unit but again, could not open the door or it would not stay cool in the room.

The rest of apartment always stayed extremely hot even with the fans on and the one window open, but luckily for us we had plans and were not in the apartment for long periods of time, had we planned to stay in it would have been very uncomfortable.

The bed in the bedroom room is pushed up against the wall so there is only one side of the bed to get in and out of, the footboard is solid wood and there is no table. It's not very comfortable or convenient if you are sleeping on the wall side and need to get out of bed while the other person is sleeping.

Parking is about a block away in an alley and we always had homeless in our parking spot we had to deal with. If you plan to just stay in the area you really don't need to rent a car you can walk and bike everywhere.

The bathroom was very nicely done and had double sinks which was great for sharing with my husband. I would also say this is the first property I have rented through this site that charged a supply fee and the "supplies" were very lacking both in quality and quantity, not even facial tissue anywhere in the unit.

Overall it was a nice stay in a great location and I would give this place 3 1/2 stars if I could. Would I stay here again? Probably not not with all the other choices in the area.

Owner's Response: Dear Stacy, I am sorry you had so many issues and I wish you had taken a minute of your time to bring at least some of them to my attention. I could have helped you with some of these problems with explanations and solutions, as I do with all renters who come to me. I went back to our conversation registered in this website, and all my responses to you were within a day or two, but I see your responses sometimes did take over 2 weeks to get back to me. That's probably what you are calling lengthy, right? Most of my renters choose to deal by email to be faster, but you chose to send your agreement by fax - which delays the process anyways. As per our request of identification, it's really to abide with our rental agreement and for insurance reasons. I do not rent this location for any person under the age of 25 and I need to have a proof of the age matching the responsible party and signature. It was never my intention to do a check in "in person" to be in compliance with the rental agreement and insurance request. If you wanted to see me and if I were available, I would have no problem stopping by to chat with you. I understand you arrived when San Diego had a heat wave with temperatures above 90 which is super-hot for all of us. We normally don't leave the AC and fans working because we don't know what time you would be arriving. It's normal that you find the temperature elevated but you can open the glass door and the front door leaving the screen to get the air circulating. The AC you could have turned it on and closed the room to keep the cold inside the room (after leaving the window open if you didn’t like the smell). Anyways, tips that I could have given you to resolve the initial problems within 30 minutes. I am sorry you were feeling uncomfortable with the bed location. I could have replaced the bedside tables for you to give you more room. Lastly, you complained about quality and quantity of supplies. Quality is a matter of personal preference since we shop at the local grocery stores, Costco and Smart and Final; however, quantity I will respectfully disagree with you because we leave inside the unit a reasonable amount for each guest, but we make the entire storage area available if needed - located in the hall (white doors). It's disclosed on the welcoming package! As I said, most of your complaints wouldn’t be here if you had taken a little bit of your time to bring to my attention. Overall, I wish you had a better communication with me.

Amazing beach location with tons to do

Our recent stay at the Castle exceeded our expectations, as the 1 bedroom unit itself was great and the location was even better. Being right above Hamel's was very convenient as they give you a discount on rentals and merchandise if you mention you're staying upstairs. My wife and I rented beach cruiser bikes for $10 per day, and were able to use them to ride anywhere in Mission or Pacific beach. The beach itself was clean, relatively wide open in late September, and overall a gorgeous setting. There are so many fun restaurants, bars, shops, etc. to explore withing 2 miles or less. Can hear the waves crashing from inside the apartment. Gaslamp District, Balboa Park, and La Jolla are all within a 15 min drive or Uber. The unit overall was very clean and perfect for our stay, and Claudia was always very responsive and helpful. Also, there are beach chairs, boogie boards, and other beach toys provided which was really nice to have.

Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and would definitely return for another visit in the future. Thanks so much Claudia!
