WiFi, Television with DVD player, and basic cable package, CD player for music, but no satellite service. Wonderfully private and well landscaped yard with lovely shade trees to keep you cool on those hot summer days. Concrete patio with patio seating for 6, Weber Briquette BBQ, small lush lawn to wiggle your toes in, and off street parking for your convenience. Centrally located near downtown Ennis and within easy walking distance to diners, bars, shopping etc.
I bought this house for my father to live in, in 2000, and have since decided to use it as a vacation rental, with the hopes of using it as my retirement home someday. While I upgraded it with a vacationer in mind, it is furnished as comfortably as a home, and I hope you will call it your home away from home. If you are lacking in something, within reason, I will do my best to see that your needs are met. I live 40 miles south of town, and while I can't be there in an instant, I will do my best to make sure that your stay is comfortable, and that the house is well functioning during your stay.

This property is perfect for a couple looking for a comfortable spot to base their Madison Valley vacation out of. It is affordable, well appointed, comfortable and convenient. If needed, it can sleep up to 4 people, but is ideal for a couple, since it only has one small bathroom. Ennis is a quaint small Montana town with festivals, a 4th of July Parade, Rodeos, art walks, a golf course, antique and gift shops, a new library, several good restaurants/bars, and a locally owned, old time movie theater, all within an easy walking distance of the house. Don't miss a tour through the new Whiskey Distillery, Willie's Distillery at the east end of town.
This little house was one of the original homes in Ennis but is newly remodeled and modern. The location, in the 'old' part of town assures big mature shade trees and the quaintness of small town America. It has a residential/commercial zoning, and is surrounded by commercial buildings, which are used little, so you won't have a bunch of noisy neighbors bothering your vacation time! Off street parking is a bonus, and the close proximity to downtown makes everything in town an easy walk for most.
We have stayed here for the third year in a row in the fall time and absolutely love it. Home nestled in a perfect setting in town with great access to everything the area has to offer. The was cozy and had everything we needed. It is definitely home away from home!! Thank you!
This cottage is nicely remodeled. Just around the corner from the Main Street so very convenient. Beautiful yard. Kitchen was well stocked. The furniture in the living room was not very comfortable, but having said that I would still choose to stay here again.
Perfect location ! The property is well maintained. Front and backyard landscaping is beautiful. The house is very well kept, and has everything you need for your stay. Will definitely be back in the future.
Second year we've rented for 30+ days and stayed in a surprisingly roomy, perfectly located cottage in the heart of Ennis, Montana. Stating that the home is close to shopping, service stations, grocery stores, and restaurants is an understatement as it's less than a block off main street, yet unbelievably quite with private parking. Being in the heart of the Madison Valley and at midpoint of the Upper and Lower Madison River the home puts you at the crossroads and within 71 miles of the west gate to Yellowstone National Park and 100 miles of five different famous Montana trout fishing rivers with the nearest river access all of five short blocks.
The home is equipped with all the needed essentials-kitchen utensils, washer dryer, bedding, etc. A beautifully landscaped and shaded front and back yard are there for early morning coffee and evening cookouts. Just be ready for the deer in the front yard when exiting early in the mornings as they like to bed down there at night.
Great, great "home base" for a driving tour to Bozeman-Livingstone-Gardiner-Yellowstone National Park-West Yellowstone and back home to Ennis. And, nothing beats the view of the Madison Valley more than an early morning drive along the west side the Madison River and up and over the Gravelly Mountain Range and into the Ruby Valley-BREATHE TAKING.
Sorry, can't tell you about the television reception as we've never found time to turn it on. WiFi works fine and allows you quick access for sending vacation pictures and updates to all your friends and family. Would definitely highly recommend the Caddis Shack for a true experience of the "big sky" in Big Sky Country.
The little cottage is much bigger than one expects, plenty of room. Lovely location, walk to or ride a bike to whatever one may need. Walk right to the Madison river to fish, picnic. The back yard of the cottage offers a very nice private area.
VC offers lots of entertainment and is close to Ennis.
This was a perfect home away from home. I was in town for training and it was the perfect quiet place to come back to in the evening to study and it had all the comforts of home. Walking distance to restaurants and local shopping.
The Caddis Shack is located in the heart of the small town of Ennis, nestled in the splendor of the beautiful Madison Valley, of southwestern Montana. If you enjoy fishing blue ribbon trout streams, the Madison is world famous, and other streams, such as the Big Hole, Beaverhead, Yellowstone and Gallatin, are within reasonable distance for a day trip.
If exploring caves is of interest, The Lewis and Clark Caverns and State Park is approximately 39 miles north of Ennis, and offers guided tours through the caverns, and can be a fun, cool thing to do, on a hot summer day. Stop by at the Water of the Gods for a soak in the natural hot springs at Norris on your way home. Enjoy a meal and some music, if your timing is right, then jump back in the car for a short 14 mile drive home.
Does floating down the river in an inter tube sound like a relaxing thing to do on a hot day? Be sure to check out tube rentals in town and journey to Warm Springs Fishing access on Hwy 87, for a slow meandering float along the shores of the Madison River below Ennis Lake.
Bozeman is approximately 52 miles from Ennis, and is where you can find most anything you might want, and is most likely to be the spot you fly into, if your arrive by jet. Take in a movie at the modern cinema's, or browse through the Museum of the Rockies, and marvel at the exhibits, planetarium and world renowned dinosaurs collection. Dining is a matter of choice, and their are many restaurants to chose from, whether it's Sushi at my favorite, Seven Sushi on Kagy and Wilson, or a fun and wonderfully creative meal at The Cat Eye Cafe, the list goes on and on, so be adventurous, and find your own personal favorite.
West Yellowstone is 71 miles from Ennis, and is the jumping off point to Yellowstone National Park, which offers an entirely different array of wonderful trout streams from the Firehole and Gardiner Rivers to the famous Slough Creek, known for it's big Cutthroat. If fishing isn't your bag, wildlife and photography opportunities abound in Yellowstone Park, and you are sure to be awed as you admire the scenery in our countries oldest National Park.
Historical Virginia City is a mere 14 mile drive from Ennis, where you can step back into time and be entertained by the Virginia City Players, or the bawdy antics of the Brewery Follies actors.
Whether you are a fishing fanatic, a history buff, or just simply looking for a beautiful place to relax, the Madison Valley, and the town of Ennis, has something for you. Browse the seasonal art walks, the weekly farmers market, take in one of the many festivals, listed with the Chamber of Commerce, peruse the galleries, antique and gift shops, or take in a meal at one of several wonderful local restaurants.
Want some wild and scenic touring time, that you can enjoy from the comfort of your car? Consider taking the Gravelly Range Rd., along the spine of the Gravelly Mountains, for scenic panoramas and wildflowers that will take your breath away. Check with the Forest Service in town before departing for updates on travel conditions, just to be safe.
Drive south and enjoy the Centennial Valley, and Red Rocks Wildlife Refuge, on the Idaho border, for a chance to spot birds and wildlife, without the crowds of Yellowstone Park. Be sure to bring your binoculars, a bird book, and a spotting scope if you have one, and don't forget the fishing rods.
If you are not opposed to crossing a state line, and purchasing another fishing license, Idaho has some famous water that is worth the effort. The famed Henry's Fork of the Snake is approximately 73 miles south of Ennis, and you will pass by Henry's Lake en-route.
Whatever you chose to do, The Caddis Shack is centrally located for all of your activities, and can offer you a private, comfortable place to hang your hat and put your feet up for some R & R..
