Our villa is conveniently placed just outside Marrakech centre. Apple Gardens is a fully contained luxury resort with a 5 star hotel, large pool, spa, fitness gym, golf and tennis facilities.
The resort has been designed by one of the country's top architects and consists of 51 villas with 140 sq m living area with additional terraces, private pool and roof views.
Our detached villa was completed in January 2010 and includes 3 double bedrooms with en suite shower/bath, lounge, Satellite TV area, dining area and upgraded European kitchen. Outside patio and large gardens.
Cars are not allowed to drive through the development which makes it a quiet and safe environment but parking is close.
The villa has been furnished with some traditional Moroccan features and benefits from cultural design influences but also features stylish, contemporary interiors of latest modern design
Natasha and I bought the villa for our own use in retirement. As such the furnishings are not typical of rented properties.
Natasha Fox purchased this villa in 2010
Marrakesh has always been a place where we wanted to visit and after the first trip we bought the villa. This villa is located in the prime spot on the resort with splendid views.
The unique benefit in the villa is the ability to have a holiday with the addition of your own maid, cook and driver,
The property is in a well-maintained estate; the houses and the gardens are carefully maintained and a 24/7 security service is also provided.
The house has the best location on the estate (very close to the main entrance) and a plot with far reaching views. The sunsets are achingly beautiful and they can be enjoyed either from the patio or from the spacious roof terrace. About the house: this is a spacious, comfortable house that has been converted into a luxurious retreat: the furniture and the furnishing are superb. The garden is well looked after and it is a delight so see so much variety of shrubs, roses, trees. The pool was a pleasant addition (again, well-maintained) and inside the house you can even put a log fire on. In the house we enjoyed the set up: each bedroom had its own bathroom and we could always gather in the lounge or on the patio. The kitchen is well equipped, so one can cook, but I loved the meals offered by the housekeeper (she offers breakfast and evening meals as well). She prepared local dishes which were very tasty.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the tranquillity and the luxury of the place and would recommend it to become their base-point for exploring Marrakesh, the Red City or the mountains. Perfect for a family gathering, chill-out or a private party…
We'd planned a late getaway to Marrakesh, hopefully for some sun and culture and to stay in a private villa, and we were certainly not disappointed on any count. We had a week 14-21 November, during which the sun shone and we had fantastic trips out into the mountains and into Marrakech, and just lazing in the sunshine in the quiet of this wonderful villa.
Our stay in Villa 18 was efficiently handled throughout, by the UK-based owners, and on arrival by the local manager (who speaks very good English), and throughout by the lovely maid/cook and a trusted driver. Layla prepared scrumptious Moroccan breakfasts for us on most mornings, and prepared several local-themed meals for us to have later at dinner. Hassan our private driver met us at the airport as scheduled, paused at a supermarket enroute to Apple Gardens so we could pick up some drinks and snacks, and on two days that week took us on interesting trips into the Atlas mountains and into Marrakech Medina - he drove safely and never made us feel uncomfortable.
The villa itself is a joy, exactly as expected from the description and photographs - it is clean, spacious and well equipped with a roof seating area and private pool that was maintained daily, set in a spacious well-maintained garden. There is also a fine boutique hotel on the resort, serving a very nice array of lunch and dinner menus, which made for a special location on an occasion whilst we were there. The whole Apple Gardens resort is secured and we felt very safe there (actually we felt very safe all over Marrakech - sellers in the Souks can be a bit pushy of course but haggling is expected - it's all pretty light hearted). So, walking in the grounds between the villa and the hotel was fine, even on a dark evening.
All in all we enjoyed a great week and highly recommend this villa and the services of the staff that are associated with it ...
This was a last minute holiday (technically our honeymoon but with 2 teenagers!)...Arranging the rental was extremely easy and the owner sent us a comprehensive information pack with suggested activities and other useful items (this came in very handy with teenagers!). The owner arranged the airport transfer (Hassan the friendly taxi driver was there waiting for us) and after an entertaining drive through early evening Marrakech traffic we arrived at the villa. We were greeted by the maid and the manager who made us very welcome (the villa was filled with fresh flowers for my wife as a gift from the manager which was a very nice gesture! I wish I could have taken credit for that!!).
This particular villa is probably the best located on the entire complex...It is very private / secluded (open views to the rear, has car parking space near to it and gets the sun in the right places at the right time! Basically that means the pool area / patio eating area can be used all day and in the evenings you can sit out on the roof terrace (very romantic) and watch the sunset over the Atlas mountains.
If you are renting this villa we recommend you hire the maid (not expensive) as she personally looked after us like her own family (massive breakfasts with homemade pancakes, crumpets, eggs, local bread, honey, mint tea, more crumpets, more pancakes, every morning which got bigger and bigger until we realized that we need to leave a little bit of food on the plate!). The maid also prepared the evening meals (she has a little Moroccan cook book which you just point out the meal you want...wonderful chicken / lamb tagines, salads and BBQ's). The maid also does the usual stuff like cleaning, washing clothes (the villa has a washing machine) which made our stay very relaxed (no housework for week!).
My 2 teenage children made 'full' use of the pool and local amenities / shop.
The villa itself is very spacious, well equipped / comfortable with modern / traditional furniture. It has a large tv, satellite, ipod player, etc. (we rarely used these as spent most time outside). Each bedroom is large, well furnished and has a separate bathroom, the lounge and dining area are comfortable (didn't use this much as outside mostly!). The outdoor dining area was well used however!
Top !
We stayed for 4 nights at this lovely villa and we all loved it. It has a wonderful rooftop terrace with 360 deg views. The bedrooms are all en-suite and are furnished to a high standard, as are the main areas of the villa. We decided to take up the optional services of a maid who cooked and cleaned for us at a very reasonable cost. The resort also has a brilliant english speaking resort manager, Soufiane, who we found to be very polite & helpful with any advice we asked him for. All in all we had a really wonderful time at this property and we genuinely would like to return sometime in the near future.
We decided to visit Marrakech for our family holiday, firstly as it is somewhere very different to the convenient Mediterranean options, yet only a 3 ½ hour flight at the most. Our stay at 18 Apple Gardens was so enjoyable, we thoroughly enjoyed the 10 day holiday and returned tanned and relaxed even having taken 2 very young children!
Marrakech as a holiday destination was so interesting, just driving down the road opens your eyes to a city buzzing with life against a stunning backdrop of the Atlas Mountains. If you enjoy shopping the Medina is an absolute must!
The Villa was outstanding and exceeded all our expectations. It was beautifully furnished, fresh, modern and spacious with a touch of the Moroccan charm. The children loved playing in the pool and garden. The 40 + degree heat that could put some people off, was bearable as the pool and air conditioning was our saving grace.
An added bonus was our lovely maid who for a small additional fee, was on hand to tidy up the villa and cook unbelievable traditional Moroccan cuisine. In my opinion the maid was the X Factor that made our stay so special!
I have to mention that the Moroccan culture is extremely family orientated, our children were embraced by the locals and I felt comfortable in their company. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and went out their way to ensure were happy. I know we will be going back again some time soon.
Just to paint one final picture… Kids tucked up in bed, we’re sat on the patio in a now cool 28 degrees with a perfect view of the sunset. Sipping decent cheap red wine and the Tagine is simmering away!!! I couldn’t think of a better holiday?
The villa is situated 20 minutes from the centre of Marrakech on the road to Fez. It is one of 51 villas at the Apple Gardens Resort and Spa which includes a 6 hole par 3 golf course. Marrakech is famous for the Djemaa El Fna, souks or markets. The Koutoubia mosque is to Marrakech what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris.
The villa has views of the Atlas mountains where skiing is available. 3 Internationally acclaimed golf courses are close by.
Other Activities: Quad Bilkes, Hot air balloon
