Upscale in DuPont: Courtyard + King Beds + Rare Parking Driveway Option!

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,850 sq. ft.
Property type townhome
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

3 Bedrooms (2 kings + 1 queen) + 2 Baths + Organic

Elegant 3-bedroom home, with dining room, courtyard, garden and driveway parking option. Situated on the 1st floor, with an emphasis on organic amenities and upscale linens and towels. Some guests have said that our home feels as if it were taken from the hills of Tuscany and set down in the Capitol of the USA!

Located in one of the most preferred neighborhoods in DC, this spacious DuPont Circle townhouse rests on a quiet tree-lined street and features fine dining in walking distance. The turn-of-the century home is conveniently near Embassy Row, museums and shopping. Even better, nearby salons and bistros abound.

This is one of several units managed by an experienced host who has been awarded Premier Status on VRBO.

The home is renovated and has 1800 square feet of indoor living space, featuring high ceilings, tall windows and original French doors. Enhancing those quarters are two private gardens: the courtyard for dining alfresco and the patio for conversation around the garden. For extra convenience, there is a washer-and-dryer and high-speed internet available for guest use.

Comfortable contemporary and antique furnishings are accented by eclectic décor. You’ll find the kitchen well-stocked, including a juicer and Vitamix. The dining room opens to the courtyard if you prefer taking your meals under the trees.

The bedrooms are nicely sized and comfortably appointed, the mattresses topped with freshly laundered linens, cleaned just prior to your arrival. The master bedroom overlooks the courtyard, and has an organic king mattress and attached bathroom. The second bedroom is even larger, also with a king mattress, and French doors leading out to the back garden. The third bedroom is smaller and rustic, yet the glass ceiling gives you the thrill of gazing at the stars from bed.

Steps from your front door you will find a corner market and a dry cleaner. Just a few blocks beyond enjoy gourmet restaurants, cafes, theatre and shopping. After dining, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll along Embassy Row with its beautiful mansions.

Minutes away, the subway will transport guests to the most popular sites: the Smithsonian, the Capitol, world renowned monuments and Arlington Cemetery, to name a few. The White House is within walking distance with lovely sites along the way. If traveling with children, so is the zoo.

Cabs, Ubers and bike rental stations are abundant in the area. If you favor your own vehicle, there are two options that can be added to your quote: driveway parking can be made available for up to 2 vehicles, and any number of street parking permits can also be arranged.

What you can expect: It is my aim to provide guests five-star amenities; the same touches that I appreciate when I travel: lodging located in a gorgeous and safe neighborhood, cleanliness, upscale linens and towels, comfortable mattresses, high-speed Internet and eclectic decor.

Please Note: I book on a first-come basis, and the furnishings are constantly evolving.

About Gloria

I am a writer who works from home. My husband is a former mayor, and currently, a publisher in Washington, DC. We prefer quiet homes in residential neighborhoods when we travel, and offer ours to like-minded people whenever we're away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Gloria was a spectacular in absentee hostess ! Immediate responsive to any and all questions from the initial booking throughout my 4-day visit and everybody is going to have unanticipated questions in a guest house (like, what's that WiFi password again?). The house itself was in a lovely quiet side street in the city, easy to get a cab, to find a dining spot - and with the handiest tiny corner grocery store ten steps away that has all the amenities a guest could want: fruit, pastries, wine. We became quite the friends of that supplier of all things. Charming location for a special feeling that a hotel can't give for a city experience. My first experience [with a vacation rental] and I booked it for me and two high school BFFs who scattered to three different parts of the country & who get together in some city in October of every year with one each of our grown-up girls (6 of us in all). The leap of faith for a house instead of individual hotel suites turned out to be a super decision. We were all very pleased and that's not easy with reunions. Linens were there exactly as promised, kitchen and equipment all in working order, dishes and silver and so forth, all the details that one doesn't want to think about on a trip: all provided. And, it was memorable to be able to stock the kitchen and enjoy breakfast together or drinks, or dinner. Got a lot more catching up done and easy sharing of our lives than when we stayed in individual suites in hotels. The booking was my good fortune in all respects.

Great Experience

  • 5 of 5

The house was great - plenty of room to spread out, a beautiful garden behind, and lots of charm. We had 6 people ranging from 11 to 70 years old, and had plenty of space for all of us. There is one large bathroom and one smaller one; both are absolutely useable, but it probably helps to be flexible as needed. The beds were great, and the location was perfect for us. We might have heard people above us once during our 4 days there, the property felt very secluded and relaxing. Gloria was wonderfully responsive, and overall this was a great find.

Beautiful home. Perfect location, impeccably clean.

  • 5 of 5

Gloria’s home was cozy yet gave our family of 5 enough space to spread out. We did not get to enjoy the patio as we visited during a cold spell. I’m sure the experience would be even better during a warmer season.

A Slice of Europe in Washington, DC

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful time at this home! The house reminded us of a historic villa in Italy, so much so, that we didn’t want to leave to go see the sites. The rooms were exactly as shown in the pictures, and was spotlessly clean, updated in all the right places and had a well-stocked kitchen. The courtyards and the driveway were a real bonus; though we parked the car and walked or used the metro most of the time. The neighborhood was quiet, but steps away from many great restaurants and cafes. The host went out of her way to be helpful and attentive. We highly recommend this home!
