It's the first day of your summer vacation. How would you like to start? You could enjoy your coffee at the beautiful reclaimed wood dining table and watch the sunrise over the water. Or perhaps you'd rather roll out your yoga mat on the smaller, East-facing deck and do sun salutations while a Great Blue Heron fishes just a few feet from your dock. Once the whole family is awake, step out onto the large deck and have breakfast under the cupola as hawks soar overhead to their nearby nests. Then wave to the swan family drifting by as you relax in what, from where you're floating, looks like an infinity pool. Kids can swim all day while the grownups keep a watchful eye from the gorgeous outdoor living room. Later you can grab your fishing poles and cast off your 170' bulkhead (dock) or pull up the crab traps and show the kids what's inside. Before it's time to fire up the grill for dinner, break from the family fun for a bit and sneak off behind the sea grass to the handmade hammock, where the bay breezes gently rock you to sleep. After dinner, grab the Graham crackers and chocolate bars and head to the fire pit to roast marshmallows. The perfect end to your evening? Float on your back in the dark pool and gaze up at the millions of stars overhead.
When you're recharged and ready to venture beyond Pebble Bay, Jenkinson's famous boardwalk and beach is a 10 minute drive. It's the quintessential Jersey Shore boardwalk of yesteryear, with amusement rides, games, frozen custard stands, delicious boardwalk pizza, salt water taffy, and arcade games. For the adults, Jenkinson's has tiki bars on the beach with live music. They also offer beach yoga in the morning, a wonderful aquarium, family movies on the beach every Friday night and fireworks every Thursday in the summer. There are tons of great restaurants nearby, many of them on the water. And downtown Bayhead and Point Pleasant--with their wonderful shops, cafés and restaurants--are 10 minutes away.
