Book now starting April 2016 - December 2016! Summer pricing June 5 - September $500 week! October - December $600 week! Ask about breaks for longer than week stays. Check it out!

Introducing an amazing vacation rental home located in Lake Placid, FL on a canal leading to Lake Clay, one of 27 lakes in the area; a beautiful 365 acre crystal clear, sandy bottom, freshwater lake, excellent for boating, swimming, jet skiing, tubing and fishing! Plus, several other sandy bottom lakes are within 5 minutes of the house. If you want to extend your adventures! For the golfers, there are 50 golf courses in the area!

Lake Placid is a charming little town, conveniently located in the center of our Sunshine State, about 90 miles from Orlando (Disney), 125 Palm Beach, 90 Sarasota and 95 Tampa. Perfect location for day trips to Florida's most famous attractions!

Lake Placid has two nicknames, the 'Town of Murals' for having more than 40 murals painted on buildings and 'The Caladium Capital of the World' for its producing 98% of the world's bulbs. In January 2013, Reader's Digest voted Lake Placid 'America's Most Interesting Town.' My Fox Tampa Bay News reported that Lake Placid is one of Florida's 'Hidden Gems.' www.myfoxtampabay.com/video.

For more information about Lake Placid, you can also check out the following links: www.tourlakeplacid.com and www.lpfla.com.

Located in a quiet neighborhood, close to grocery stores and restaurants, this 1,525 square foot home awaits your arrival. Whether you play in Lake Placid or go off on day trips, you surely will not want to leave!

The newly updated home has a well equipped kitchen for cooking your favorite meals as well as a charcoal grill. For relaxing outdoors, the home boasts a 10 x 18 screened in porch overlooking the canal and also has a table and chairs for your dining pleasure. Watch the abundance of wildlife that visit the property. The living room is spacious for relaxing in as well. The home sleeps 6 with a new queen bed in the master bedroom and en suite bathroom. The second bedroom has a new twin bed, a bunk bed and a roll-out in the closet. The second bathroom is located outside the second bedroom.

Fish off the canal dock in the backyard or use the boat ramp near the house. Bass fishing is excellent, even in the canal!

The home has WiFi for those wanting to stay connected. Although there is a TV, please consider the inevitability that there won't be anything on TV that rivals the area lake views or star studded sky. If you absolutely need TV, Comcast would be your provider for the time you are here (you can set up an account with them easily at your cost). There is a brand new Streaming Blue-ray DVD disc player (WiFi Certified). Stream movies through your Netflix account on your laptop/tablet to the disc player!

Plenty to See and Do. Fishing, bass tournaments, golfing, casinos, raceways, water sports, wildlife, state parks, horseback riding, hunting, kayaking and air boat rides, wineries, gatorama, Henscratch Farms, murals, shopping and dining, lots of day trips to great attractions including Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World and more!

Please bring your own beach towels!

About Nancy Petersen

In about 4 years this will be our wintertime retirement home, but until then, we want to share our little place in paradise with others!

Nancy Petersen purchased this house in 2013

Why Nancy Petersen chose Central Florida

We came to love this area because my uncle lives here. We love that it is in the center of the state, away from the hustle and bustle of the coasts, yet close to so many things to see and do!

What makes this house unique

Although this wasn't the only house we looked at, we chose this house because we love the screened in porch overlooking the canal. There is also so much wildlife that visit. The neighborhood is so peaceful and relaxing with wonderful neighbors. Everything is updated and we like that we can fish from our own little dock on the canal!

Perfect for our family

  • 5 of 5

We visit Lake Placid every year for a lake vacation with a few other families, all with kids. This year, my 2 girls and I stayed in Nancy's home and we were very comfortable. This home was absolutely perfect for us. It was super clean and quite comfortable. Just the right amount of space. Although we spent all of our days out on the different lakes boating and playing water sports, we were happy to come "home" at night. We did not use the dock on the canal but it was certainly suitable for small water craft. Lake Clay is one of my favorite lakes in the area. The screened patio was pleasant in the evenings too. The bathrooms and kitchen were adequately stocked and clean. We used the washer and dryer nearly every nite and that was quite convenient. Nancy was super easy to work with and timely in her responses and very accommodating. We will absolutely be back for another stay! There is no cable in the home but Nancy was able to order a cable box that was delivered to the home and was easily set up for a nominal fee. There is WiFi and a streaming blue ray player as well. The listing was dead on! Lake Placid is a charming and quiet town with many friendly folks. No night life or party town if that's what you are looking for.

Great place to stay

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much, this is a lovely home and we thank Nancy and Joe for sharing. Walking around Lake Clay is a very nice 4 1/2 mile walk, watch out for some of the drivers they don't like to move over on the road. The area is great for golfing, sunsets down at the public peer were wonderful, and the wild life was interesting. It is a lovely neighbourhood and the neighbours were great. Recommend this property if you are looking for a lovely well kept home for your winter get-a-way.

Canadians enjoying the sun

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this home for the month of March 2015. We really enjoyed the house and the area. We had a few minor problems on arrival, but Nancy and Peter (the neighbour) were excellent to work with and we got everything corrected. Lake Placid is a small town with all of the necessities, without the traffic and stress of a big city. The public boat launch is about 100 yards away and has good fishing and is great for watching the beautiful sunsets. We would highly recommend this home for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Thanks to Nancy for a great holiday.

Lovely place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely well-kept home. Nancy was very easy to work with and made sure everything was just as it should be for our stay. Any questions we had were promptly answered. The listing was very accurate in all ways. We had family living in the area and this house was a convenient starting point for all our travels. Lake Placid is a quiet place with lots of charming wildlife. My 80-year-old father enjoyed eating his breakfast on the patio while watching the great egret who visited the backyard every morning.

I highly recommend this property and hope to stay there again.

Great retirement home!

  • 5 of 5

The home was clean and well kept. We liked sitting out back and watching the wildlife, but watch out for the automatic sprinklers ! It is a great neighborhood with terrific neighbors. We recommend it for anyone who just wants to get away.

Lake Placid

  • 4 of 5

The house was very nice, clean. Safe, quiet neihborhood. A good place to stay if you are looking for a relaxing vacation. We went to the ocean, Disney, and a couple of Detroit Tiger games in Lakeland. But all of these are about a one and a half hour drive away.

Owner's Response: I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and the area. Being within an hour and half drive to many areas is one of the benefits of the house that we love. It offers lots of options for various outings. Or, one can just relax in the house and watch the birds that come and visit and know that if you have to run to the grocery store it won't take a 1/2 hour to go 2 miles like it does in other areas of Florida like Fort Myers. Would love to have you again! Thanks so much for visiting and I am happy that we were able to share our house with you! Nancy and Joe
