Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Centre Historique - 2 Bedroom Apartment

Bright, spacious and cozy : 2 bedroom

Delightful 2 bedroom apartment situated in an eighteenth century building overlooking the St Roch quarter - right in the centre of this lovely historic old town.

The apartment is comfortable and clean with large airy living room, 1st bedroom with double bed, 2nd bedroom with 2 single beds, bathroom (with shower) and a traditional kitchen equipped with hob, oven, fridge, washing machine, microwave etc. It is serviced by a professional cleaning maid.

All amenities close to hand including supermarket, chic boutiques, hundreds of restaurants/cafes and irish pub! ....and all the city's attractions are a few minutes walk away including the huge central plaza Place de la Comedie, Museum Fabre, Cathedrale St Pierre, Les Arceux/Peyrou viaduct....

The new tram goes directly to the beach now! The tram stop is just up the road from the apartment - the ride takes about 15min and costs €1. It's also a nice bike ride to the beach on the dedicated bike lane.

Great location but little charm

  • 2 of 5

The apartment is located in a great area of Montpellier, central historic. It is in a lively bar and restaurant area. So can get a bit noisy at night. The photos posted for the apartment are out of date. They no longer reflect the condition of the apartment. The apartment is in need of cleaning, repairing and painting. The second bedroom is an annex off the kitchen with a curtain covering the opening. The Wi-Fi is weak not dependable. The owners personal belongings are left in place. The owner did respond to our request for a second set of keys. Drop them off at the local bar.

Owner's Response: Gosh this is the first time we have ever had a complaint about cleanliness! I personally saw the apartment before the guests arrived and it was spotless - our professional cleaner did a great job as always. The only blemish on the flat is a small tear in the lovely red 60's vinyl sofa which is very difficult to fix. Apart from that I guess it's just a matter of taste - this is an 18th century building and the flat is not soul-less and ultra-modern - that lived-in quaintness is a very important part of it's charm and the decor has been described as 'shabby chic' which I like very much. The apartment IS exactly as in the photos, so if people don't like that style then why book it?!! We're very disappointed - we have always had very good feedback and cordial relations with our guests, but unfortunately this person was not very friendly and email communications were abrupt and impolite. This is actually the third time they have tried to post - the previous two reviews were refused by HomeAway because they were so rude and abusive. I would like to correct the misleading comments in this review - 1. The second bedroom is not in any way an 'annex' off the kitchen! It is a wholly separate room with it's own door. The curtain is there to separate the sleeping area from the bathroom for added privacy if required. 2. The only 'belongings' left in the apartment is a collection of trilby hats on a shelf in the living room. We love the way they look so we left them. 3. The apartment is in the centre of town so it's natural that there will be some street noise, however with the double glazed windows and wooden shutters closed it's very very quiet. One thing that we are looking to improve is the Wifi reception. It's been playing up recently so we are in the process of changing our internet installation and supplier to have a stronger and more reliable signal. I think it's interesting to note that these guests never once called us during their stay to ask for anything to be changed or altered, despite my direct mobile phone number being on the wall of the kitchen!

Very comfortable apartment with great location

  • 5 of 5

We made a great decision to rent this apartment. Upon arriving we were pleasantly surprised with the ample space of the unit. The living room, master bedroom and kitchen were large enough so all four in our family had ample room. The unit was clean and everything was in good working order. Large windows opened up to the street action below. It can get fairly noisy depending on certain citly events but the windows themselves are thick and nearly soundproof so we never had a problem getting to sleep. On warm nights we used fans provided and that's all we needed. The location of apartment is fantastic. It is a short walk to the Montpellier's main city square, Comedie. It is also very close to the tram which is an excellent way of getting around. There are restaurants everywhere nearby, including La Tomate on the first floor, but we had two fantastic dinners at L'idee Saveurs which is just across the street. It has to be one of the best restaurants in town. Overall, our stay was fantastic. The only complaint we would offer was the pots and pans in the kitchen were not good but with all the great dining options around we didn't really need them. We would highly recommend this rental to anyone if you are able to climb a couple flights of stairs. We would definitely stay here again.

This is the second time I've stayed here now and it's been brilliant. It's a typical wee French apartment and it's got everything you could possibly need, including books and DVDs. It's fairly easy to find and it's only a five minute walk from the main square - Place de la Comedie - with all its little cafes and restaurants. The property is well maintained and the owners, Neil and Carrie, are very helpful. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend as it's perfect for a girlie getaway, a cosy retreat or a city break. Top marks from me!!

Highly Recommended.

We spent one month in this apartment in July/August 2011. The apartment provides a very pleasant and comfortable place from which to explore the vibrant city of Montpellier and the surrounding area. Located in the old town, you can reach most places in Montpellier -- including the train station -- on foot in 5 to 10 minutes. Among the many good restaurants in the neighborhood, we found La Tomate -- the restaurant underneath the apartment -- to be one of the best values in town. Also, the pizza shop across the street on the corner makes very good pizzas. The apartment has a well-equipped eat-in kitchen for those who enjoy cooking. Neil and Carrie are very professional and pleasant to work with. We definitely recommend their apartment and would stay there again.

Great Week in Montpellier

  • 4 of 5

The apartment is blessed with a great location, near Eglise St Roch, everything is in walking distance. The restaurant downstairs is France proper, great food and atmosphere.

Apartment decor is shabby chic that adds to its relaxing charm. We were three friends staying, and the ability to sleep in the lounge suited us well, being able to sit round the table in the kitchen putting the world to rights also made it homely.

To get to the bathroom you have to walk through one bedroom, this is screened with curtains.

We had a great week, I loved it so much I have re-booked for April 2011, I have been visiting Montpellier for 8 years and it is great to find home from home. Thanks Carrie & Neil

Perfect location in Montpellier

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed out stay in the apartment and found the accommodation to be comfortable and well presented. The large kitchen diner was perfect for us to enjoy a night in, to relax after a long day at the beach (near by Maguelone beach I recommend highly). The local restaurants and cafes in the streets below the apartment sell tasty and good value food and there are plenty of bars restaurants and shops around close to the property. If you want to really experience life in the central "old town" there can not be many better places on offer than this accommodation. All the best bars in the city are less than a 10 minute walk (many nearer than this). The flat is in a very bohemian area and it is hard not to fall in love with the way of life there which I did. I found the owners Carrie and Neil to be helpful and reliable and would certainly stay in the flat again if I revisit Montpellier.
