I was born and raised in Colorado where I grew to love mountain life. I joined the service and became a Vietnam veteran. I went to college and worked in California. I retired here in Wyoming. My goal is to make this an enjoyable place to stay. Give me your comments.
The Snowy Range is one of the finest snowmobiling areas in the U.S., with 320 miles of groomed trails and many more un-groomed trails. Medicine Bow National Forest has a combined 1,000,000 acres in southeast Wyoming with thousands of acres of open meadows. It has consistent powder. You can ride right from the property.
Other activities on the mountain include : The Snowy Range Ski Area is just a short drive away and offers a snowboard park and 27 separate runs. Good for skiers and snowboarders. The Snowy Range also provides opportunities for snowshoeing through the snow covered trees and along frozen creeks. There is also cross country ski trails along the green rock parking area. For the fisherman the plains lakes and lake Owen are great for ice fishing.
The beautiful mountain vistas are great for the photographer and artist.
Summer activities include: great fishing, sight seeing, and abundant wildlife. We have two great lakes, Rob Roy Reservoir and Lake Owen. These are both accessible by car in the summer after the snow melt and are just minutes away. A number of creeks and rivers. There are hundreds of trail miles to explore ranging from the beginner to advanced riding for the ATV, motorcycle or jeep.
Luxury in the mountains. This property is fairly new and modern. Unbeatable views of the forest and mountains. The windows look out on to the national forest with wild life. Plenty of room for trailers and toys to park outside you door.
We came to stay here with 2 families of 4.....this little cabin by far exceeded our expectations! Is everything that Doug says it is! Quaint little cabin tucked back just off the hwy and close to the trail at Albany.....plenty of room to sleep, fully furnished clean and neat cabin! Pulled in 2 huge enclosed trailers and still plenty of room in driveway to get around with sleds.....kids rose smal sleds and snowboarders in the backyard which was great! Used the grill and cooked up suppers and fully stocked kitchen was perfect! Aso had plenty of towels and blankets/sheets for sleeping! we will definately repeat the stay at this beautiful little getaway in the snowy mountains! Comes very highly recommended and sure not to disappoint!
We stayed here (house and cabin) for a multi-family trip with young children. We were comfortable and both places are very nice. We skied at Snowy Range (~ 30 minute drive) one day and Happy Jack (~15 minutes outside of Laramie) on the way home. We also hiked portions of the Medicine Bow Rail Trail, which you can walk to from the cabin (not enough snow down low to ski it). The place was generally quiet and peaceful, although some late-night snowmobile traffic nearby was noisy.
We rented the cabin for our annual snowmobile trip. This was our first time to the Laramie/Albany area and the cabin was easy to find. Great location, close to trails and Albany Lodge for food and fuel. Cabin was clean and well taken care of, owner was great to work with. Great communication thru e-mails and phone, no hassle's at all. Would recommend this property to anyone. Would have given an excellent rating, but had trouble getting our trailers on the property. But there was plenty of parking at the Forest Parking Area which was less than 1/4 mile away.
