About Linda

We built this home away from home to get away from our busy lives in CT and enjoy all of what 'Vacationland' has to offer. Relax and enjoy the beautiful outdoors of Maine. This house and property has truly been our labor of love. We are happy to share it with you!

Linda purchased this house in 2008

Why Linda chose Brownfield

We picked the sleepy town of Brownfield Maine to build our 3,000 square foot cottage because of the easy access to everything we might like to do including: the arts (music, local artists, craftsmen etc) including Stone Mountain arts Center. Hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, kayaking, and boating. Less then 1 hour to old Orchard Beach, or Freeport. Shopping and great restaurants of all types. Nearly (20) Ski resorts within an hour drive. Snowmobile and snowshoe trail access directly across the street.

Just about everything you would want to do from minutes to max 1 hour away.

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with the beautiful park like setting, to build our home. The ever changing Saco river is mesmerizing. We have the only peninsula on the river which we go to often and sit on our swing. It feels like a golden pond. Being so close to the river allows us to witness nature in all her beauty. To see turkeys, eagles, ducks, and deer. Are all part of the beauty of this place. A small piece of heaven.

Great house!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the house to spend a couple days skiing at Shawnee Peak (15-20 minute drive). The house was spacious, modern, very clean and had everything we needed. The finished basement was great for kids of all ages and the kitchen was fully equipped for eating in. Summer would also be a great time to stay here, with the Saco River in the backyard and great outdoor space. We would stay here again!

Owner's Response: Dear Julie I so happy you enjoyed your visit at my cottage. And every one enjoyed our Rec. room! You are absolutely right! Summer is so beautiful! My back yard is filled with the sounds and fragrances of nature and the River. Even though there are so many places to go close by to my cottage. My guests tell me often. Its more fun just staying at my Rivers edge cottage.... Hope to have you back soon. Sincerely Linda

Once in a blue moon....

  • 5 of 5

As the song goes. I'll do something right. And that's exactly what we did when we chose this property to stay for the week. This vacation was the best vacation we've ever had. Linda's place more than exceeded our expectations. The pictures only tell part of the story. The location could not have been better for our plans which included shopping, eating and beautiful short distance drives to local Ski resorts. My children were overjoyed and seldom come out of the basement which included a pool table, air hockey table, and an entertainment area that was extremely family friendly. We were lucky enough to be sound and safe during the Nor' easter that come through. The fireplace kept us cozy and warm. The caretakers Mr David and Mr Andy were more than accommodating to come by within hours after the storm let up and dig our vehicle out of the snow. Mr David was kind enough to also let me know when it was safe enough to travel which was the following day after the huge storm. The roads seem to be a top priority to the DOT and were cleared off in no time. We were able to snow sled in her back yard. The side of the house was just beautiful. Props to Linda's husband for the awesome home building skills. Thank you very much Linda for being so accommodating to our family and helping us with every need. You have been too kind and we appreciated it very much. Over and over I kept saying accommodate. Thats exactly how I felt that Linda, David and Andy were during this dream vacation. I highly recommend for anyone to enjoy the same experience we had.

Beautiful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This was probably our 5th visit and it was as spectacular as the first. The home is beautiful and welcoming. We had snow. It was picturesque. As always the home has everthing our own home does so we feel right at home. The hardest part was leaving. Can’t wait to back.

Beautiful home away in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

I would highly recommend this wonderful home. It was warm and welcoming, clean and cozy and ideal for people of all ages. Upon entering you are welcomed into a slate floor foyer with high wood beam ceilings - the perfect place to unload your car and kick off your shoes. You immediately enter into a open space kitchen, living and dining area - complete with cozy couches and a fireplace. The basement is complete with a movie viewing area, a pool table, air hockey table and a kids corner. Child gates throughout the house make it a safe place for little ones. There are 3 traditional bedrooms, 2 small rooms with bunks ideal for young children and 2 loft areas with double/queen size beds (no doors but the tweens loved being above all the hubub happening in the living area). The kitchen was well stocked and there were dishes/serving pieces aplenty for feeding a crowd. Our visit was in the winter so we were not able to take advantage of the large deck or the short jaunt to the river but in the summer I am sure it will live up to its potential. We would highly recommend this for your family vacations.

Enchanting and Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been happier to spend Thanksgiving at Linda's home. The house is beautiful and as shown (maybe better) than the pictures provided. It was clean, welcoming and tastefully decorated for the holidays, which made it even more festive to be there. The home comes with everything you need, and Linda ensured that I was aware of that since we would be cooking Thanksgiving dinner. She was in touch from the beginning and ensured we had not only the info needed but also extras like what would be happening locally over the weekend. The caretaker for the property continued that feeling of "being in good hands", calling in advance of our arrival, having the house all ready for us and then checking in to ensure everything was good. We have 3 children as well as brought both sets of grandparents. Everyone had a wonderful time and there was plenty to do. The kids enjoyed the "theatre" with the starry ceiling, pool and air hockey, hiking along the river and trails, and of course the lofts were a BIG hit with the boys while our daughter took over the small bunk rooms! The grandparents enjoyed spending time with the kids (big and small), hiking and playing lots of games. We all have Linda's home as a place to return to. I would definitely go again for Thanksgiving or fall/winter, as well as we would love to try the summer and really enjoy the river. Thank you Linda for helping us to have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
