About the property

SO, a few years ago this great little cottage was a garage we never used. Now it has beautiful red oak floors, 2 full baths, open concept downstairs with couch and 2 very comfy recliners, smart TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu. Full kitchen with everything you should need to make your favorite meal and enjoy it. Coffee maker. LG washer and dryer in laundry room. Upstairs has master bedroom with queen sized memory foam mattress, down comforter, allergy free pillows, 100% cotton sheets and towels, full bath, walk in closet and office area with desk, chair and reading chair. Enjoy the sweet sound of the little stream that runs right under your bedroom window.

The spring and summer months are vibrant with forests & fields, farms & gardens. Great for hiking, walking, napping, painting or just sitting in a warm spot and reading. There is lots of golf, zip lines, hiking/walking for all levels and all with fantastic views, mountain biking, swimming in the river, canoeing, kayaking, horse back riding, nature walks, art classes, berry picking, farm stands, guest speakers, theater, concerts, and more. Take the coach up Mount Washington and get an education in history, vegetation and science. Rock climbing guides are also available to some of the best spots in the Northeast. Take a 35 minute drive to the Mount Washington Hotel, architectural history, lunch outside in scenic splendor and golf. Or take a day trip to Portland, Maine just an hour and half away to a coastal city where activities, restaurants and culture abound. If you're not from New England it's a premier opportunity to see the special vitality and beauty of this part of the country.

Jackson Village offers an enjoyable loop stroll around the village with several little shops, coffee and bakeries, lunch and dinner with additional options not far away. There are 2 Spa's in town which offer a variety of indulgent amenities, Christmas Farm Inn is just minutes from the house and Deboney's Salon is down in the village. We also have a wonderful massage therapist who will come to the house if you prefer. If you are into organic, local and natural, vegetarian, vegan , GF or Paleo the Local Grocer is just 15 minutes away and a wonderful place for you to visit offering everything you will need for a great lunch, snacks, beauty products, supplies and groceries.

They also offer a variety of yoga classes for all levels, homeopathic treatment/consulting and speciality massage options. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner (“Table&Tonic”), cafe and bakery.

During the winter season Jackson Ski Touring Ski Trails are just minutes from your door. Great place to walk or snow shoe with beautiful views to be found around almost every corner. Black Mountain Ski Area at the bottom of the hill and views of it from the windows. The following ski areas are all within 45 minutes away: Wildcat, Cranmore, Attitash/Bear Peak and Bretton Woods. Ice skating can be found down in Jackson Village at Nestlenook Farm. Ice climbing, back country skiing and winter camping guides/opportunities are also available locally and thru Appalachian Mountain Club in Pinkham Notch.

You can also take a snow coach to the top of Mount Washington, a memorable trip for sure.

With all this to ponder and consider the best thing can also just sit inside or out and just take a snooze, read, listen to music and do nothing if you choose. For so many of us just a chance to be still, warm, comfortable, and relaxed is activity enough. We are happy to help you find your way if you need assistance and to be invisible if not. It is wonderful for us to be able to share the privilege we have to live in this pastoral place. We look forward to your preparing for your visit.

Great place to stay for a couple looking for a quiet vacation.

  • 5 of 5

This home was a perfect choice for our NH vacation. We were looking for a location that was centrally located in the White Mountains but not on a busy road. The location is nestled in the shadow of Black Mountain and so peaceful and relaxing. We spent the week touring the area on our motorcycle and this home is very easy to get to being just a few miles off Rte 16 in Jackson. Many great restaurants close by and just a short drive to a grocery store. The home is well equipped and there's no problem being able to prepare meals if you want to avoid the dinner rush and lines. The owners are terrific and very accommodating. We were welcomed with fresh cut flowers, bread, wine, chocolate, and home made pickles. We would definitely recommend this home and have added it to our short list of places to stay.
