comfortable, clean, convenient

  • 5 of 5

This Rhinebeck home is a 5 minute walk to town. We stayed for the Rhinebeck Fall Foliage 1/2 marathon. The kitchen is well equipped. The decor is modern. We all slept well and enjoyed tea/coffee on the porch during the mornings. This 4 bedroom/2 full bath home is a good value especially when the location is taken into consideration.

Great House and an Easy Walk to Town

  • 4 of 5

Very nice home with good amenities about a 5-minute walk to the center of Rhinebeck. No dishwasher but that wasn't a huge problem since we didn't eat in. Two full baths, one upstairs and one downstairs. Note there is no master bath. House was very clean.

Not as Billed, Nice but Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

I hesitate to leave this negative review because overall we liked the house. Nicely renovated with attractive kitchen and downstairs bathroom.

But two negatives outweigh the positives.

First, there is a venting problem with the upstairs bathroom. Strong sewer gas smells in bathroom make it almost unusable and this is the only bathroom on the same level as the bedrooms. Odor extends into hall and adjacent bedrooms. Likely a problem with incorrect venting of toilet and/or tub. Also half of this bathroom floor is pluwood, not an appropriate finish for a house that costs this much per night.

Second major problem is portraying this as a lake house. There is a lake back there but certainly not accessible from this property. Actual backyard is a small gravel turnout from driveway, a garage, and a small area with picnic table and grill. Sidewalk leads back to a set of stairs and walk that lead directly to the house next door. Fence and bushes cut off any access to water. Have to walk to park next door to get access to water, and certainly no 'sandy beach' as written in description. Instead is a dirt bank down to water's edge.

Rented house so my grandson would have the water for play.

Manager's response was insufficient offering a negligible credit on a future rental I am very unlikely to do. Did not post this until receiving their inadequate response.

Nestled in the heart of the Hudson Valley, Rhinebeck has something for everyone. Two hours from New York City by car or by Amtrak, the village has a small town feel with cute shops and a wonderful vibe. With the Culinary Institute only 15 minutes away, the whole region is peppered with great restaurants, farmer's markets, and local meat and produce shops. There are countless parks where you can take a casual stroll overlooking the Hudson or do some of the most serious hiking and rock climbing on the East Coast. Rich in history, the Hudson River Valley has historical sites, mansions to tour and old towns and villages, some dating back three hundred years. You can get a taste of country life with a hayride or pick-your-own farms or explore nearby places like Woodstock, Hudson, Millbrook and Kingston. For the kids, there is the Old Aerodrome, which has antique airplanes on display and air shows. For older kids, horse farms, sportsman’s clubs, golf courses, and dozens of streams and lakes for fishing surround Rhinebeck. Bard College and the Fisher Center for the Arts is only ten minutes away.
