Peep peep, dont sleep. Keep your mind and your eyes open, there are things happening around you that when being mindful, new perspectives would emerge. Peep peep is the sound of an alarm, of the constant honking habit that is inseparable from the Vietnamese daily life. Annoying? Yes, but when you immerge yourself in the culture, youll learn to love it too. Its a love hate kind of thing.
We Saigoneers have a saying. Play in District 1, Eat in District 5, and for us there is one more, Stay with us.
I am a Vietnamese at heart, and an architect by choice. This house was designed and built by a local duo architects who are known for their tropical regional approach to architecture. The house was used double as an architecture office on the ground floor and a private residence on the upper. Hence, I hope that this house would give you the experience of what it is like living in a tropical country, the same kind of experience I have come to love for over 28 years.
Tucked away in a small alley in an area that border between District 1 and Phu Nhuan District, the location of the house is close enough to walk to downtown District 1, and far enough to give you a quiet moment when needed at night. Local food scene is around the corners offering countless choices of places to eat. A long canal is steps away from the house which is great for an afternoon jog to catch the sunset or a morning run along the sun rise, and there are many places awaiting for you to explore. Peep peep, dont sleep.
So if you are a design enthusiast, a designer, an architect, or just a fellow travelers looking for new experience, this house, I hope is the place where youll have your great experience. I am, and my fellow friends would be happy hang with you over a cup of c ph sa , chewing on bnh m, or sipping on a bowl of ph. See you soon.
