Montanha Valley Lodge is nestled between dunes which line the turquoise patterned waters of the warm Indian Ocean in the trendy Mozambique resort destination of Barra which is situated in Inhambane, Mozambique.
The district boasts one of the largest plantations of palm trees worldwide and this vegetation combined with the endless pristine beaches, soft sea breezes and sparkling clear ocean give this stretch of the peninsula a rare taste of that balmy island fever.
Originally named Terra de Boa Gente or ‘Land of the Gentle People’ by Vasco da Gama in the late 1400’s, the sheltered, scenic bay of Inhambane is one of the oldest settlements on the East Coast and was, in its heyday, a significant port. Today, the district still houses the largest fleet of working dhows in Mozambique.
