About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bath home on wolf creek and yet close to town

Come Vacation with Family and Friends at the House on Wolf Creek in Nevada City, CA

Our country home sits above Wolf Creek overlooking our beautiful wooded 1 acre property. We are just 2 miles from downtown Nevada City.

It is the perfect get-away if you are seeking privacy and natural beauty. Enjoy beautiful views of the forest and our own private Pond from the deck. Wake up to the sound of Wolf Creek and birds. In the evenings you will hear the frogs and see the stars from the deck. Enjoy a barbeque with the family on the deck.

The home is perfect for family fun, a quiet getaway or a group. We have 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, family room, living room with beautiful wood burning fireplace and an updated fully equipped kitchen. The home features beautiful windows out to the woods and hardwood floors, new carpeting in the bedrooms for those chilly mornings. There are 2 king beds, one queen and a double futon in the family room. The home can very comfortably accommodate 8 people and lots of room for kids and sleeping bags in the family room.

BUNK HOUSE - additionally we have a summer bunk house. It has a bunk bed with a double on the bottom and a twin on the top. It has its own small deck and is fun for a sleep out for kids. There is no electricity or bathroom in the bunk house.

We are a short 5 minute drive from historic Nevada City's restaurants, shops, galleries and special events. In addition to Nevada City, there are many wineries just a short drive away.

We are at 3500 feet altitude and so we get some snow and it makes for a lot of fun snow play and a cozy evening in front of the fireplace in the high ceiling living room. The sloping driveway is perfect for sledding!

In the spring and summer take advantage of our close proximity to the hiking trail that follows along the Nevada County Irrigation channel (a man-made stream). The area is perfect for hiking, biking and playing! We are very close to an amazing mountain-bike trail entrance that goes for 120 miles! (For the hard core biker….)

Or just take a book out on the deck or cuddle in front of the fire and relax.

Winter Sports:

• Sugar Bowl and Boreal Ridge Ski Resorts are just 45 minutes away.

• Sledding down your own driveway!

• Snowshoeing on the property or on the trails.

• Come at Christmas time and enjoy the Nevada City Victorian Christmas celebration.

• Wine Tasting at local wineries.

• Yuba River is close by and offers fishing, kayaking, sunning and general water fun.

• The Nevada Theater, where Mark Twain read in the 1860s, still features monthly plays

• In July, the 150-year-old town closes two blocks to cars and lets artisans take over with booths selling wine, craft cheeses, and local veggies.

We have an assortment of games and puzzles for the whole family at our house on Wolf Creek. So when you return after an active day of skiing, hiking, rafting, or fishing, you can enjoy a game together. We also have TVs and DVD players to watch a movie in front of the fire.

Check in time is 3 pm and checkout is 11 am. If you need a different arrangement please contact us - we will try to accommodate. thanks

About Al Cunningham and Stacey Redman

We purchased this lovely home in 2012

. We are bay area locals and sought a home that was 'in the country' and yet not too far to drive for weekends. We fell in love with the great little town of Nevada City, its shops, restaurants, gold rush history and special events. Our home is close to town, wineries, skiing in the winter rafting, hiking and more. We bought this to be a family home for our children and grandchildren and are now able to share it with you!

Why Al Cunningham and Stacey Redman chose Nevada City

The Wolf Creek House is the perfect blend of country and activities. The house is 5 miles to Nevada City, close to wineries (many with no charge and all with no lines!), skiing, rafting, hiking, shopping and great restaurants! The home itself is spacious and yet cozy, is nestled in the pine trees and has trails on the property as well. This is a special home and location and we look forward to sharing it with you.

What makes this cabin unique

You can hear the sound of Wolf Creek year round. The creek feeds our private and very special pond.

You can BBQ on the deck in the beautiful spring, summer and fall months. The ceiling in the living is high and the fireplace adds the perfect amount of warmth on a cold evening or morning.

We have restored a small sleeping cottage for summer months - it has bunk beds and is furnished as our bunk house. Great for kids or adults in the summer months.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is a quiet and peaceful place. The home is lovely, the surroundings are beautiful. The pond and creek can be heard in the background....Nevada City is close by and so great....restaurants, shops and great festivals.

Take a nap in the hammock by the pond while you hear the creek and have a blanket of trees above you....

I plan on coming back.

Beautiful Home and Property

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a couple of nights at this home for a short getaway and had a very nice time. We have rented a lot of vacation homes over the years and this home is definitely one we would rate at the top end. The house is really beautiful, very clean and comfortable. Has everything you could possibly need for entertainment, cooking or just relaxing. It was so nice to sit on the deck and take in the lovely surroundings. The sound of the water running through the creek is so relaxing. Very peaceful. We would definitely come back.

Great for our needs, comfortable and roomy

  • 4 of 5

Home was exactly as portrayed in photos etc. Worked well for our large group. Busy with a family wedding so we didn't get to spend much time hanging out but would have been nice.

Stay in Nevada City

  • 5 of 5

Going in we had an issue, because we didn't follow owners instructions. We were on dirt roads and the minivan bottomed out twice to get there. YOU MUST USE THEIR DIRECTIONS TO THE HOUSE. It takes you the right way that is all on paved roads and easily accessible. The house was perfect. We had plenty of room and weren't far from the weekend of wedding events that brought us there.

There were a couple of small housekeeping issues like dumping your own garbage and I was concerned using the Safeway to get rid of our garbage could get us into trouble. But everything was perfect and we were comfortable. It was unseasonably hot there and if they AC wasn't working we could have had issues sleeping, but it was perfect and comfortable. The sounds of the outdoors, while not too noisy were perfect for all. The scenery was beautiful from every window in the house. Clean and neat and perfect.

I don't know if it's important to mention, but there were some spiders and webs around in and out of the house, one we even filmed, but all was perfect!!!!!

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed the house. It is critical to follow the directions we provide as your gps will take you the wrong way. We do our best to keep up with the webs but it is a consequence of having a country home. Thanks again and glad you had a good time.
