Lovely lodge in beautiful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Pine Lodge for a week in September 2018 and we had a lovely time. David is friendly and welcoming and has thought of every comfort for your stay, down to the smallest of details. The welcome pack was perfect and greatly appreciated and the information folder was excellent to help us plan our holiday activities. We enjoyed seeing the variety of wildlife near the lodge.

We recommend the Horseshoe inn in Eddleston for a fantastic meal. The bus stop is opposite the inn and stops a couple of minutes walk from the lodge. The ‘steak on a hot stone’ experience at Barony Castle was excellent too. Pine lodge is the perfect location to stay somewhere which is off the beaten track, with home comforts, easy connections to Edinburgh and Peebles and the beautiful Scottish countryside on your doorstep to explore. Making it the perfect place for any adventures you want. Whether that’s relaxing, walking, cycling and much more.

Immaculate accommodation in an ideal location for Edinburgh and the Border region

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is absolutely spot on for 4 adults or a family looking to explore this area of Scotland. It is easy to find and yet has a delightful rural location only 100 metres from the main Edinburgh to Peebles road. Immaculately presented by the owner and a very warm and informative welcome was complimented by a very good hamper that meant even if you arrived late you had enough to keep you going until you had chance to shop for food. The accommodation is very well presented and has plenty of space with modern fixtures and fittings. We couldn't think of a way to improve the cottage in terms of a holiday property. It has a particularly nice touch of having bird feeders at many windows which attract a variety of birds and make an interesting alternative to watching tv. We would have no hesitation returning to Pine Lodge or recommending it to friends. Well worth a visit if you want something self-catering in this part of the world.

This is a lovely property. The owner is friendly and helpful but not intrusive, and the welcome basket of food was a thoughtful touch as well as being really useful.

Local amenities include the world-renowned Glentress and other Seven Stanes Mountain Bike Centres, Rosslyn Chapel (As featured in the Da Vinci Code ), and the town of Peebles with its characteristic shops, pubs, and restaurants. There is also a good choice of restaurants and pubs not far from the cottage, including the Whitmuir Organic Restaurant and Farm Shop (Voted Best Organic Shop in the U.K.). Other local interests include the Dawyck Botanic Garden, and the Kailzie Gardens where watching Ospreys is possible. Fishing is available on the River Tweed by daily permit or at the many local fisheries and reservoirs, and for golfing enthusiasts numerous courses are situated in and around Edinburgh including Glencorse which was voted one of Scotland's hidden gems by U.S. Sports Illustrated. For those seeking a slower pace of life the Spa resorts of the Peebles Hydro or Stobo Castle offer a half or full day of pampering and relaxation.

Bus stops nearby the cottage also provide alternative transport to Edinburgh and the rest of the Borders.
