Lovely, cosy cottage, ideal for a relaxing break.

  • 5 of 5

We were welcomed on arrival and given a basket of food essentials. The cottage was also stocked with condiments, herbs and spices. Towels provided. We took our dog who was provided with food bowls. The cottage also had a variety of things to do - a play station, Sky, Dvds, books and games. The beds were very comfy and spacious. My son had 2 neighbours during our stay, 2 bluetits who ate and chirped regularly outside his window.

We walked, cooked and enjoyed the peace and quiet. We are definately going to return. Thank you we really enjoyed our stay.

Outstanding and magical

  • 5 of 5

We were absolutely awed when we arrived at the house. The pictures truly do not do it justice. The place is massive, the hosts warm, friendly and extremely accommodating. The feeling of being welcomed and cared for permeated every corner of the home and the little touches like a fully loaded welcome basket loaded with essentials brought a tear to our eye.

The setting is magical, utterly quiet, the air crisp and clean, unbelievable array of facilities, great people, impeccable quality home close to shops and Edinburgh city centre. 10/10 would love to stay there again. Definitely recommend!

Gorgeous property amazing attention to detail......

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. Waking up to birds feeding right outside the window made us want to stay in bed all day. The house itself is breathtaking, it's clean and tidy and decorated to a very high standard, you get an invite to knock on to the owners house to say hi but it's not a necessary and they don't bother you, you can come and go as you please. There is a brilliant file which tells you everything from how things work to what animals you may see and to different places to visit around the area. I would highly recommend this property and we will be booking to go ourselves again.

Really perfect

  • 5 of 5

What a great cottage. It was perfect for our family of 4. It has everything you need and lots more. The gift basket was thoughtful and convenient. The caretaker is kind and available and willing to help. The location allows a countryside experience with easy access to Edinburgh. We'd stay again in a second.

Pine Lodge is nestled in a woodland setting with bird life such as nuthatches, woodpeckers, owls, and buzzards viewable around the cottage. Local amenities include the world-renowned Glentress and other Seven Stanes Mountain Bike Centres, Rosslyn Chapel (As featured in the Da Vinci Code ), and the town of Peebles with its characteristic shops, pubs, and restaurants. There is also a good choice of restaurants and pubs not far from the cottage, including the Whitmuir Organic Restaurant and Farm Shop (Voted Best Organic Shop in the U.K.). Other local interests include the Dawyck Botanic Garden, and the Kailzie Gardens where watching Ospreys is possible. Fishing is available on the River Tweed by daily permit or at the many local fisheries and reservoirs, and for golfing enthusiasts numerous courses are situated in and around Edinburgh including Glencorse which was voted one of Scotland's hidden gems by U.S. Sports Illustrated. For those seeking a slower pace of life the Spa resorts of the Peebles Hydro or Stobo Castle offer a half or full day of pampering and relaxation.

Bus stops nearby the cottage also provide alternative transport to Edinburgh and the rest of the Borders.
