I moved to San Clemente in 1972 as a young boy and grew up in this beautiful sleepy little beach town. I love that San Clemente has maintained many of its great qualities as it has become very popular as a beach destination. I love the small town feel of it and its great beaches. I realized a dream when this property became available to me and allowed me to get this close to the water. I look forward to sharing that blessing with others while staying here.
Bob Rountree purchased this house in 2002
This property is uniquely located close to everything, most importantly the beach and beach trail access. It has a very comfortable and open layout that captures the beach lifestyle and weather. Smelling the ocean and feeling the breeze on a daily basis is wonderful. If you are looking to take advantage of beautiful San Clemente and what it has to offer, you are in the heart of it here.
We loved staying in San Clemente at this property - it was clean, spacious, well maintained and came with a fully stocked kitchen. The owner was also very helpful. It is just a few minutes walk down to one of the beaches and a further 15 minutes to the main beach. Beautiful SoCal seaside town, friendly neighbourhood.
All four Generations had a great time. It was centrally located, so, while the young people traveled to Disneyland or Legoland, the grandparents enjoyed the beach and visited with California relatives. Mr Rountree was very helpful. Even took out our trash.
This house was perfect for our family. The location was perfect for having quick access to the beach. The beds were amazing and the kitchen well stocked for cooking. We will certainly return to San Clemente for the sun, beach and low key atmosphere of the area.
There are many great things about this house, but I wish to focus on (1) the great location; and (2) the stress-free setup.
First, the house is half a block from the nearest beach access (a steep concrete walkway). At the bottom of the walkway, you have two choices. You can take a tunnel under the railroad tracks to the beach (called Mariposa), or connect to the boardwalk and walk to either the pier (south) or north beach.
From a surfer's perspective, Mariposa Beach was a pleasant surprise. There was a lot of swell during our visit, and most of San Clemente was on the steeper, heavier side. But Mariposa had two distinct breaks. The southern peak was steeper, but the northern peak was somewhat mushy. I was able to ride a longboard, even though it was head high (and bigger on some sets). Bottom line, a short walk from the house to fun surf. That's a vacation!
Access to the boardwalk is also important. You can walk to the pier in minutes. And if you have young kids, there is an awesome park at the halfway point (Linda Lane).
Second, the house is fully equipped for a fun vacation. The full supply of beach chairs, towels, umbrella, etc. turns out to be a luxury. The house has a garage that makes for easy rinsing, storage, and keeping things clean. There are several surfboards that are good for beginners. Washer and dryer. Great setup.
Upstairs, inside the house, is clean and comfortable. Cute decks and patios for lounging and eating. Comfortable beds and living room. And the hot tub works perfectly.
I hope to return. This place is special.
When I booked this house for our trip, I thought it had everything we needed and more, and I was right! It is a lovely home. Friends, family, and clothes are all you need to bring with you. The kitchen is stocked with all the dishes and cookware you need. I quick trip to the local grocery store allowed us to have food for meals we wanted to eat in at our leisure. The home is lovely with nice decorative touches, yet casual and relaxed. It really felt like a home where we might live, not a cold hotel. The neighborhood felt safe and friendly. We didn't need the water "toys" such as surf and paddle boards, but they're there for you if you do. The home is a very short walk to the beach and pier, and the front and back patios are fantastic. We are parents who travelled with our grown children. There was plenty of space for us to gather together when we wanted, and have our own spaces when we needed them. If we make plans to stay in San Clemente again, we know the perfect spot.
We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary by staying at this lovely beach house for an entire week. It was incredible! The house was more than adequate for our entire family which included toddlers. All the amenities were high quality and everything was provided that we needed. Beach chairs, beach towels, beach toys, cooler - you name it and it was there! The beach house felt like a home that you could truly relax and be comfortable in. The walks to the beach were delightful and the quiet neighborhood was very enjoyable! We'd go back in a heartbeat! What a wonderful vacation with awesome memories made! We'd highly recommend this house!
