This private two story ocean view house that sits on almost one acre inside of the Rancho Palos Verdes Conservancy surrounded by 305 acres of nature trails, horses and hiking trails is a wonderful vacation rental for friends or families to getaway. The beautiful 5 Star resort, " Terranea" is just 2 minutes away by car. The Terranea Resort was designed as a world-class luxury resort and is set on 102 acres on the beautiful Rancho Palos Verdes Peninsula right on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Recently constructed in 2008, this vacation resort features beautifully landscaped grounds, 3 swimming pools, 3 outdoor hot tub spas, a poolside fitness center, and an award-winning spa. There are also 5 restaurants on-site including the five-star Marcel, and the more contemporary Catalina Kitchen and Nelson's Restaurant. The Spa Cafe provides a refreshing break from sport activities, and the Sea Beans Coffee Shop is available for gourmet coffee and breakfast/lunch. We are very pleased to have the resort just a mile away from our home. There is also free parking to the left of the resort where it says beach parking.
We are located also close to Many of the Region's major attractions, including Disneyland, Universal Studios, Staples Center/Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and the Getty Museum are within 40 minutes drive. The Queen Mary in Long Beach is only 6 miles away. Wayfarers Chapel is also minutes away from our holiday home.
Conveniently located near our holiday home are grocery stores, for food and drink, the Golden Cove Shopping Center that is a few miles north of the rental property. It has a Trader Joe's for buying groceries, or if you prefer to eat out, there are restaurants of various types and costs: The Admiral, Yellow Rose, Alaskan Sushi and Grill, and Swan Thai, Tomatillo. Many of these places have an ocean view. Whether you are on a tight budget or not, one of the best values is the Starbuck's patio. It has one of the best ocean views in the area, along with a fire pit! There are also plenty of shops to visit and a huge shopping Mall in the city of Torrance if you wanted to spend a day there. Trump's 18-hole golf course and movie theaters are minutes away from our rental. A short drive around the peninsula will lead you to other beaches and their cities, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach and, Manhattan Beach, where you will find more shopping, restaurants and plenty of nightlife.
Just a quick note about our community, our community is extremely quiet, we do not accommodate big wedding parties or celebrations. This is a none smoking property.

We bought this gorgeous property because. The 399-acre Portuguese Bend Reserve has been preserved in 2005 and is the largest of the ten reserves that make up the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve. We are close to the beach, yet it feels like we are in the Country and has a very rural setting.. It's just a wonderful area surrounded by nature 24/7. The Ocean Views are amazing from every corner of this property.
There are so many great reasons why we fell in love with our own Palos Verdes home and why we who live here are very fortunate … the schools are great, the climate terrific, the whale watching and dolphin surfing just a blast to see, but there is also the wide open and protected spaces through which one can hike and just take a few moments to take a breath.
The Palos Verdes Nature Preserve is just a perfect example of this; from the Upper Filiorum, to the Three Sisters Reserve and everything around and in between, in all the hiking I’ve done around Southern California, there isn’t anywhere more beautiful.
Wow! What a view of the ocean! The owner's quick response and helpful attitude sealed the deal on this rental property! This beach rental really has a marvelous ocean view from the living room and dining room! And, it has one acre of privacy and plenty of parking! It so was wonderful to cook in a full kitchen that was stocked with dishes and some pantry items, like spices, coffee, and tea. It also had a wonderful view, from the kitchen sink, of the wooded hills nearby. The master bedroom is upstairs and is very private. Downstairs, there are 4 bedrooms; a huge room with a king-sized bed and an outside exit, a queen-sized bedroom, then two bedrooms, with king-sized beds, that are joined by a private, sliding glass door. There is a lovely deck with patio furniture and a very neatly trimmed yard on this property, which is in a gated community. The ocean is about 3 - 5 minutes away, by car, or a 10 minute walk thru the neighborhood, which has lovely peacocks. There is free parking on the left of the Terranea Resort, which gave us access to the walking trail and the rocky ocean shores in this area. There is a coffee shop, a gift shop, spa, and a restaurant on this property that are available for visitors, but they are at "resort" prices. Another fantastic option for food and drink is at the Golden Cove Shopping Center that is a few miles north of the rental property. We had a delightful time watching the sun go down on several different days! We were also delighted to find out that there are some great places to go exploring with kids and teens, like the Point Vincente Lighthouse and Interpretive Center (a type of small museum), Seascape Trail, and the Abalone Cove Trails. We spent five extremely restful days in this private home, for a and did not start to exhaust our choices of things to do in the area. It is one of those places where visitors can build good memories and come back again and again. Thank you Andrea, for sharing your marvelous home with us! We got the best customer service available, too!
My husband and I live in LA, but love to take local vacations to explore new areas. One area that we come back to often is the Palos Verdes Peninsula since the coastline is gorgeous, there are lots of hiking trails and beautiful beaches, and you get a sense of what California was like before all the roads, people, and traffic. This weekend was a belated birthday get-together with our adult sons, so we were 3 couples in all.
Everything was simple and explicit about the booking and check in, and Andrea even accommodated my last minute request to bring along my son's little dog. Clearly she loves animals, as is evidenced by the fact that she feeds some cats on a remote part of the property (this is noted in the listing). However, we had no cats visiting us inside the house and only saw one of them at all in the part of the yard we used (cats in the house would have been an issue with two of our party allergic, but it was not a problem). Andrea met us at the property, went over all the instructions, went out of her way to make sure we had a working bbq since I had brought food to throw on the grill, and left us with the invitation to give her a call with the smallest of questions or requests. With everything clear and provided, and the home spotless, we had no need to call, but she made us feel welcome like family.
Andrea's home was the perfect spot to gather, hike, and enjoy our time together. We liked that all 3 couples had full bedrooms with real beds, not just twins or a sofa bed in a multi-purpose room. The upstairs was great for enjoying the view to the ocean and Catalina, and the salt air breezes. There is space to cook, eat together, and even do puzzles and play games. As noted, we cooked in, and found everything we needed. I brought food for the first night, then shopped 15 minutes away at Bristol Farms for the second night - even closer is a Trader Joe's just up the coast. If you want to eat out, there are many good restaurants nearby as well (Avenue Italy is one we tried earlier). The home is in a unique area of undulating topography, open space, and large lots with many types of animals. There are trails nearby that will take you up to the hills, or down along the beautiful coastline. The place gives a feeling of peacefulness, calm, and relaxation; just what you want on vacation. We have stayed at other, much fancier/pricier, places in the area and though that has a place, i definitely hope to be back to stay here!
This review was submitted on behalf of my Mother who stayed in this property for my wedding: I rented this home for my family for my daughters wedding. The location was hard to access due to the roads in the area. Was told several times about having parties, although we had no plans to have a party at this property. And if we were going to make noise the neighbor was grouchy and it might be an issue. The owner stated she lives near by and would be checking. Downstairs rooms had a stuffy odor. Stray cats wandered in and I had to throw 2 cats out of the house. Wouldn't advise staying there if you have allergies. Based on the photos in the listing, I was expecting more. Also the listing didn't mention narrow steep stairway to downstairs, which would have been helpful for me. Some of the flooring was uneven and I kept hitting the edges of bedroom with my toes. Bathrooms were on the smaller side.
We stayed at Andrea's house for weekend of my wife's baby shower. We had family visiting from all over and this was the perfect property to house everyone. The view great and we really enjoyed dining outside. Would definitely stay again!
We rented this beautiful house over Thanksgiving -- two adults, two teenagers and our dog. Everyone loved it! The house is really big, the photos really don't do it justice. Kitchen is well appointed and we had everything we needed to cook. Everything was sparkling clean. The view from the living room is sooooo pretty. We did not experience any noise issues, in fact we commented on how quiet the house was. Everything about the house and the lovely host, Andrea was top notch. The location cannot be beat. This part of the peninsula is so beautiful and there are many places to walk along the cliffs. So beautiful and relaxing. We will return!!
We are located behind private gates in a private community called the ' Portuguese Bend'. Wayfarer's Chapel Church is our neighbor. It's the most beautiful place on earth. We have over 300 acres of trails and beautiful ocean views and wonderful spectacular sunsets. Terranea World Class Resort is one mile away from this wonderful two story home. There is no place like it.

Per our home owners association rules we are a small community and can not host big wedding receptions at our home in our grounds. We wish we could. The owner has the right come into the house at anytime, especially if the air conditioner is turned on whilst visitors are out for the day. Thanks for understanding. We also require a list of all persons staying at the home at check in so that we know who is in the home for fire reasons. Thank you and all have a great time staying.
