About Ailsa Wilson

I live in Australia, but was born in Scotland. Both my brother and mother live in St Andrews and so it makes sense to own some property in the area.

Ailsa Wilson purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Ailsa Wilson chose Fife & St Andrews

We bought this property because we love the town of St Andrews - it holds a special place for us, as we were married here, and enjoyed our wedding reception at the Old Course Golf and Country Club. We also have a lot of family living in this area.

What makes this cottage unique

I love our cottage because it is just so cosy and so completely central to everything you could want from the town of St Andrews. It's age gives it history, and stories yet to unfold!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Another wonderful stay at the Bunker

  • 5 of 5

My return trip to the Bunker was even better than my first stay as I was able to spend some additional time enjoying all the sites all within close walking distance. This time I brought the family back with me (wife and 3 teens) and we had a relaxing stay. We explored all St. Andrews has to offer and enjoyed the central location with the ability to walk everywhere. From the cathedral and castle ruins to the shops and restaurants to the Old Course to being across the street from the University, I don't think the Bunker could be in a better location. We had more than enough space for a family of five and enjoyed several meals out in the conservatory. We cannot wait to return!

Wonderful flat in St. Andrews!

  • 5 of 5

This is an incredibly convenient and cozy flat literally across the street from the heart of the University. It is 1-2 minute walk to the main streets for shopping and eating and had ample room for our family of 4 (2 teenage boys). The house itself had 3 beds and 2 baths along with a nice sunny eating area, a living room, and a small but nicely appointed and functional kitchen. Ailsa was prompt and thorough with all our communications so we felt well situated and informed about all aspects of the rental when we arrived. Whether you are visiting the University, just enjoying the town, or there to play the Old Course (up the block!), I couldn't think of a better place to be located. I would certainly recommend this property without reservation and would rent it again if back in the area.

Very comfortable and well equipped cottage in a great location.

This property was absolutely ideal for our family of 5 adults staying in St Andrews for the weekend to attend a wedding. The cottage had everything we could need and the central location put the whole of the attractions of St Andrews within walking distance.

Great location for a relaxing break in St Andrews.

  • 5 of 5

The property is a hidden treasure behind the front door at 84 North Street . accommodation is excellent and provides all you could ever need . We visited between Christmas and New Year for a short 3 night break . The cottage is well appointed and more spacious than you would think looking at the property from the outside . Central heating was a must at this time of year and the cottage was always warm and cozy .We were able to find on street car parking at the Scores which is only a short 2 minute walk from the property down the lane opposite . As a family we usually stay at one of the local hotels , staying at this property offered a more informal and flexible alternative which we loved . We will return to this accommodation in the future .

The charming medieval town of St. Andrews has much to offer its visitors. It is the home of golf as well as the oldest University in Scotland. It has a fascinating history, beautiful beaches and walks and excellent restaurants. It really is an idyllic location for enthusiastic golfers or a base to explore the east coast of Scotland.

St Andrews is a town meant for exploring. The medieval layout of the town centre remains intact, with the main shopping areas concentrated in Market Street and South Street, with Bell Street and Church Street connecting the two principal streets. Take time to explore - on foot - and take pleasure at the surprises and delights you will find.

St Andrews holds a special place in Scotland's history. It takes its name from the Apostle whose relics, legend tells us, were brought to this place in antiquity by St Rule. Scotland later adopted St Andrew as her patron saint and took his salt ire cross for her flag.
