About Ailsa Wilson

I live in Australia, but was born in Scotland. Both my brother and mother live in St Andrews and so it makes sense to own some property in the area.

Ailsa Wilson purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Ailsa Wilson chose Fife & St Andrews

We bought this property because we love the town of St Andrews - it holds a special place for us, as we were married here, and enjoyed our wedding reception at the Old Course Golf and Country Club. We also have a lot of family living in this area.

What makes this cottage unique

I love our cottage because it is just so cosy and so completely central to everything you could want from the town of St Andrews. It's age gives it history, and stories yet to unfold!

Perfect location, perfect house.

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful two weeks at Ailsa's house. A little tight for 6 adults but we coped. The clue was not to allow anyone else in the kitchen. We had 8 dinners "at home" thanks to Marks and Spencer and Balgove. Otherwise it really worked well. Beds were comfortable, rooms small but we did not expect anything else. Plenty hot water and a great bath. The water pressure in the showers was great. They need a better washing line, I had to tie it together! The location was brilliant and we just loved walking everywhere. Parking was a drag but I only got one ticket! The students were arriving so the the town was very busy but the atmosphere was wonderful. Of course the weather was good - only one rainy day.

The cleaners came in once and did a great job. Ailsa gave us great customer service. It was just what we expected. Loved Peat Inn and Seafood Restaurant, otherwise ate at friends or at home. The stairs mights discourage some less active friends, otherwise it is perfect.

The only problem was the wifi that was very poor.

Favorite property!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was so charming and cosy. It was in the best location in St. Andrews. The cottage was extremely clean, well stocked and beautifully decorated. Alisa was so easy to work with and answered any question we had. The beds were so comfortable and the bedding was luxurious. We hope to go back soon!!

What a lovely house to share. In real estate, location is everything, but this home had so much more. It was perfect for our stay. Thank you from all of us.

Fantastic week at the Bunker Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a combination golf/ touring week at the Bunker. It was everything we could have hoped for and more. Immediately we felt right at home. We had two couples staying there. The house is cozy, clean, well stocked with appliances and kitchen ware. We did not have one issue with anything regarding the operation of the house. The location may be the very best in town. Walking distance to anywhere. The pubs ,restaurants , shops and grocery stores are all within a five minute walk. The Old Course is right down the street. It's a wonderful area to go for a walk in the evening with the golf course and beach right there. Nice atmosphere.

One piece of advice if you intend to drive. Get familiar with the highway and street signs beforehand. I have driven in Ireland before , but this seems a little different.

One other important part. In the process of renting and prior to arrival,my correspondence with Ailsa was effortless. She answered all of my questions in a timely manner. The transactions regarding payment went through smoothly. Also right before arrival, Ailsa sent out an information document that contained everything you needed to know about the house.

Included in this were many tips on where to eat , park, shop etc. These were spot on. ( Hint: If driving, take her advice about parking near the Old Course Hotel.)

Before coming here we didn't even think about whether we would like return. However now it appears to be a certainty and we will be staying at the Bunker cottage.

Ailsa , thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. Cheers!

The charming medieval town of St. Andrews has much to offer its visitors. It is the home of golf as well as the oldest University in Scotland. It has a fascinating history, beautiful beaches and walks and excellent restaurants. It really is an idyllic location for enthusiastic golfers or a base to explore the east coast of Scotland.

St Andrews is a town meant for exploring. The medieval layout of the town centre remains intact, with the main shopping areas concentrated in Market Street and South Street, with Bell Street and Church Street connecting the two principal streets. Take time to explore - on foot - and take pleasure at the surprises and delights you will find.

St Andrews holds a special place in Scotland's history. It takes its name from the Apostle whose relics, legend tells us, were brought to this place in antiquity by St Rule. Scotland later adopted St Andrew as her patron saint and took his salt ire cross for her flag.
