An Gearasdan was fully renovated to the highest standards in 2007 and the following year won the prestigious RIAS award for which the owners are justly proud. The house can comfortably sleep 8/10 - it is large enough to accommodate 2 families or a large group of friends. It is fitted with contemporary furnishings and has a fresh decor. Downstairs accommodation consists of a large cloakroom, utility room with washing machine, tumble drier, fridge freezer, a w.c and shower room. Leading off the hallway are 4 double bedrooms (two have twin beds, one has king and one has superking) (one en suite), a family shower-room, and separate TV lounge including a small double sofa bed. Upstairs is bright and open planned with a fully equipped kitchen with large fridge, ovens and microwave. There is a well stocked library of interesting books and family games, and a dining table to seat 10. Three large sofas surround a modern Jotul log burning stove. The house offers every comfort necessary to make your holiday complete.

My family have been coming to Glenelg for over 40 years. We are lucky to live in the beautiful Somerset countryside and holiday in the stunning Scottish Highlands.
Owner purchased this House in 2006
Why Owner chose Glenelg
We found the perfect spot with the most amazing view and with the help of the incredible architects built our dream house in Glenelg.
What makes this House unique
Modern, warm, cosy and bright all at the same time. The location is ideal for the shop the pub and the walks along the beach.

Beautiful place to stay in Glenelg
Another wonderful week spent in An Gearasdan. The house itself is so comfortable and relaxing with such amazing views over to Skye from the upstairs kitchen and lounge. Bedrooms are very spacious and the kitchen and living area upstairs are extremely well equipped. Plenty of space outside to enjoy the beautiful, quiet surrounding area. Love Glenelg, will definitely be back next year!
Thank you for your amazing review and look forward to welcoming you back next year.
Great location, with superb views of Skye. Plenty of easily accessible walks.
Great place: open concept house with plenty of room for family members.
Could have done with a bit more cleaning and organizing prior to our arrival—ended up having to clean the trash bin in kitchen and finish drying the additional towels-which had been left in the dryer.
Would encourage a shopping stop prior to getting to the house as a round trip to the closest supermarket at Kyle of Lochalsh is around 2 hrs- the shop in the village is for bare minimum essentials only.
Wi-Fi -TV is non-existent so a walk down to the local Inn to catch up local news is required.
Local ferry over to Kylerhea is great to get onto Skye and avoids the additional drive to get over the Skye bridge.
Remote village location to get away from it all, so would definitely stay again.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review I am so glad that you enjoyed the space and the view and would love to come back again, it is a very special place. Thank you also for the comments about the towels and the bin - we have made our housekeeper aware and are waiting for her feedback. As you can see we normally receive only positive feedback so it is a concern if standards have fallen short. Sadly the village shop is up for sale and I think that stocks are currently very low, thankfully we have the wonderful Glenelg Inn.
I do hope you do decide to book again soon...
We couldn’t have been luckier with the weather - almost too hot and therefore having windows open brought midges in in the evenings. Very comfortable stylish house. Couple of tiny which might be worth adding - more tumblers rather than the wee glasses in the cupboard (so hot!) smaller dinner plates which fit in dishwasher, midge nets? ( prob impossible with style of windows but maybe on both sliding doors up and down to allow air in?) and a bathmat. But all in all we had a fantastic time and would love to return! Many thanks
Thank you Joanna and noted about bathmat and smaller plates - will get on to that straight away. Sorry about the midges we were in Tuscany this time last year and they were even worse!! Do hope you book again and stock up on midge repellent!
A special property in a magical place
We loved every minute spent in An Gearasdan. The spacious boot room and fantastic log burner proved very useful in this years inclement weather. It was our third stay at the house and we’re already planning next year!
Thank you so much for a fantastic review we are so looking forward to welcoming you back!
brilliant house for a family gathering - light, space, warmth, views and weather all perfect!
Really pleased to have found this property. It was perfect for us!
Thank you for your excellent review and so glad you had good weather - always a bonus!
Really lovely property. Wood burning stove is amazing! Beautiful views. Kitchen well equipped. Good showers. Quick and friendly responses with the owners. Good pub and cafe walking distance from house. Some really nice local walks. Highly recommend this property and I look forward to returning some time in the future.
So glad that you enjoyed your holiday and loved the house. Do hope you visit us again. Best wishes Kay
An Gearasdan is set in a stunning location overlooking Glenelg Bay and the Isle of Skye, just outside the village of Glenelg in Wester Ross. The property offers superior accommodation in one of the most picturesque settings in the Western Highlands. Glenelg has a village shop and pub, the famous Glenelg Inn serves delicious food. An Gearasdan sits with commanding views of the Sound of Sleat and is adjacent to the ruined Hanoverian Barracks. The surrounding countryside is wild and beautiful with fabulous mountains, glens and waterfalls. A short distance away is the gentle walk to Sandaig, a beautiful sandy bay which was once home to Gavin Maxwell and the inspiration for his famous book Ring of Brightwater. An Gearasdan has uninterrupted views to the sea and river estuary, where seals, otters, dolphins, whales and eagles are regularly sighted. Breathtaking sunsets can be enjoyed from the larch clad balcony, or upstairs in front of the log burner in the open plan living/dining room.
