There is a screened porch on the main level, and an upstairs balcony off of the master bedroom. All of the appliances are new, as well as new windows, tile floors, bathrooms and a new gourmet kitchen with granite countertops. Fully equipped and ready for your enjoyment. Other new items include, flat screen televisions, local original art, ceiling fans, furniture, bikes, kayak, linens and towels, kitchen equipment, glassware, plates, silverware, etc. The list goes on and on! Just about everything is fresh and new. Also includes cable television, free long distance in the US and Canada and wireless internet access. Please inquire for more details and specifics about this great gulf front vacation rental.

No crowds here, just miles of unspoiled, 100% natural Florida (the way it used to be!). World renowned shelling, fantastic sunsets, bird watching galore, kayaking, dolphins, gopher tortoise, and a lively lagoon where fish jump all day long. Don Pedro State park is a short walk down the beach. You’ll want to capture the Island’s charm by traveling via golf cart, we rarely use cars here. Golf cart rental is available.

Bring your boat or rent one for the ultimate in Florida lifestyle. Our community dock will accommodate a boat up to 20 feet. Like to fish? Fish right off the dock or try your luck surf fishing or book a charter with one of the local guides for a thrilling day of sport fishing or backwater challenges. Trout, Redfish, Snook, Tarpon and Grouper are just a few of the many species that call our waters home.

Don Pedro Island (Palm Island) is a barrier island and a stones throw from the mainland. You’ll arrive via a short car ferry ride that takes about three minutes. Our island has a terrific resort that offers a casual restaurant, ice cream/deli shop, sundries store and a pirate show for the kids. The island is almost all single family homes so you’ll quickly find it has a pristine 'non-commercial” family feel. There are no large high-rise resorts, beach bars or traffic and noise. If you’re looking for that place in the sun that you can actually hear the wind whistle through the palms - you’ve found your place.

Off island you’ll be close to restaurants, shops, golf courses and world famous Boca Grande as well as other attractions. As we like to say... civilization is close but not too close. Boca Grande offers exclusive shopping, dining and sightseeing. By boat you can reach Cayo Costa Island State Park and Cabbage Key where Jimmy Buffet was inspired to write 'Cheeseburger In Paradise.' Do it all, or do nothing at all, that’s the “island” lifestyle. It’s laid back, always casual (leave your tie at home) and Florida at its best.

Sleeps six comfortably. No smoking. Pets allowed with owner's permission, additional pet deposit and fee per pet applies. Spacious, open floor plan. Fully equipped kitchen. Nice screened porch that opens into the living room. Master bedroom with private bath and beachfront balcony.

Don Pedro/Palm Island is an experience like no other. Come to our island and see why so many have fallen in love with this little 'slice' of paradise!

About Julie

I grew up in Florida and as a child and teenager we would always head over to the Gulf Coast beaches for our recreation and vacations. It was a lot of fun and holds a bunch of fond memories for me. Back then, the Gulf Coast was less discovered and certainly less developed. Today, it's hard to find a beach with so few people and so underdeveloped. Quite refreshing to say the least. We chose Don Pedro Island (Palm Island) for the natural beauty and 'Old Florida' feel. This chain of islands just may be the last true Florida beach you can walk down (7 miles long) and hardly see another person. We also liked that there are no beach bars and high-rise buildings. It is the best of Old Florida, natural, unspoiled and a genuine paradise.

Julie purchased this townhome in 2013

Why Julie chose Palm Island

We bought here for the unspoiled beauty of the island and the area in general. Englewood is a low-key Old Florida 'beach town' that reminds you of how Florida looked many years ago, without the huge high-rise condominiums and massive hotels clogging the beach. There are plenty of local 'home-grown' shops and restaurants and the fishing is some of the best in world. The beaches are fantastic and the boating is world-class. If you are looking for a great family area that is close to everything, but far away from the congestion, traffic and noise, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place. The only way to get on and off the island is by a 3 minute car ferry ride. Having no bridge to the island allows for a semi-private atmosphere and keeps beach going traffic to an absolute minimum. The island is all residential other than the resort area at the north end of Palm Island which offers a quality restaurant and ice cream/deli shoppe and small sundries store. Most all of the island traffic is by golf cart.

What makes this townhome unique

Staying on the island is not for everyone. If you like lots of places to shop, tourist attractions, beach bars and chain restaurants, this isn't the place for you. On the other hand, if you are looking for un-crowded and un-spoiled beaches, great kayaking, fishing and swinging in a hammock under some breezy palms, this may be just the place. It's for a couple or family that wants some serious down-time ... a place to unplug and recharge your batteries and enjoy some great family time. Our town home is pet-friendly with tile floors throughout, a private outdoor shower (which is great for pets!). We always travel with our dog and we know many of you won't leave home without yours either. After all, they're part of the family. There's an entertainment area under the unit with a charcoal grill, snack bar area, table and chairs. You'll see plenty of Gopher Tortoise and native birds. The beach is literally at your doorstep as is the private community pool.

Best babymoon

  • 5 of 5

We stayed there for 5 nights and it was one of the best experiences we've ever had. Ferry ride was quick and easy, waking up with the oceanfront view, great walks along the beach with plenty of shells and sharks' teeth to find, biking to the resort for lunch, pool right next door, secluded beach made for great relaxation time, kayaking in the gulf and seeing lots of wildlife including an up-close encounter with a dolphin only 300 yards off the beach! The decor and finishes in the condo were great, some of the items such as beach chairs and bikes were a little rusty, but still functional. Overall this is one of the best places I've ever stayed, especially if you are looking to relax with great weather, great views, and avoid the crowds.

An amazing vacation stay! Clean and spacious rental. Great shelling and shark teeth finds.

  • 5 of 5

This was an amazing vacation rental. Having the kayaks, bikes, and golf cart gave us plenty of activities to entertain. The shelling and shark teeth were such fun to find. We will definitely be returning.

Tranquility, beauty, sunshine & more.

  • 5 of 5

The perfectly situated & wonderfully decorated condo overlooks what only can be described as an old-time Florida beach. Everything was spotlessly clean, comfortable & inviting. We made the trip with my husband & my 81 year-old mother. There was quite the rainstorm when we arrived, but even as soaked as we were by the time we hit the front door, we enjoyed the rainy day sitting on the enclosed porch, watching the waves, the birds, and playing cards.

The ferry ride into the island was quick & fun. We rented the golf cart for our stay, and are glad we did. My mom & I had a blast touring the island on the cart!

The kitchen is gorgeous. Everything you need to prep meals if you wish. The 2 full & one 1/2 bathrooms were clean, nicely decorated. Bedrooms were equally nice. The beds were very comfortable. The pillows are extra-firm, which worked for us, but be aware of that if you’re not used to extra-firm pillows.

The deck off of the master bedroom was a favorite spot for sunning, reading & star-gazing. Two gravity style lounge-chairs were welcome addition to the deck. The chairs were worn-appears that the salty air may have taken its toll on the metal frames, however, no worries - chairs worked great!

The beach reminded me of what a Florida beach should look like - rustic, lots of shells & sponges. In fact, we found dozens of intact seashells the size of my fist. My husband enjoyed finding a few dozen shark’s teeth during his daily walks. Walking the beach at night is a must! Without the light-pollution of outdoor lighting, the stars were incredibly beautiful.

The heated pool right next door was perfect for late afternoon swim after a day on the beach for those who don’t wish to dive into the ocean.

A few things to let you know:

Believe the site when they say to load up on groceries prior to hitting the island.

You will have to go up 2 flights of stairs on the outside of the building to reach the front door. My 81 year-old mother handled the stairs w/o any problems, but someone with mobility issues may struggle a bit.

Finally, the owner, Julie, could not have been more helpful in her communications with us. We were able to purchase discounted ferry passes for our car & Julue mailed them to us right away.

To sum up: if you like your beach vacation quiet, sunny, relaxing, I highly recommend this spot.

Just Can't Beat It

  • 5 of 5

Our first impression, was that is so clean. I was hesitant about staying somewhere other than my own home. We had our own vacation home before this and did not rent it out. But, let me say, this place is awesome. We've always removed our shoes when entering our home or anyone else. After doing so here, I was thinking, "Oh, no, what I'm I doing?" WOW! No sand on these floors. The cleaners do a wonderful job. I can't emphasize that enough. Also, this place is well stocked. All the way to a crocker pot, iron, ironing board, TV's in every bedroom. The only thing we had to get was food and we did so before going onto the island. Everyone we met was so nice. This place is so relaxing. We didn't miss the crowds and amusement at Myrtle Beach, SC. I enjoyed taking many pictures of the turtles and beautiful birds. Some days we just relaxed in the house or screened-in porch (which I loved). My dog loved it too. Julie, is the best! She makes sure everything is good for you and texted us when we got there to make sure of it and before we left to make sure we had a good time. And we did! It's so nice to take your beach chair down to the beach and not have to look hard in finding a place to sit. The only negative: We had to leave. We'll definitely be back!

You won't be sorry if you rent this place! I looked long before finding a place with so many positive reviews. Believe the reviews! Thanks Julie & Dale for providing a nice, clean vacation home!

Fantastic Beach House

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here with the ocean just outside our door. The house is clean and obviously well-maintained. The views and sunsets are spectacular, the beach is so quiet, and the wildlife we saw was amazing. Within the first hour we saw a manatee and six dolphin!

Unspoiled, uncrowded and unbelievable location. It's old Florida at its best. One of the best beaches in the world and certainly one of the best in Florida. World-class Boca Grande is very close and Englewood offers some quaint shopping and local restaurants. It's an old Florida beach town that has managed to stay connected to a slower pace and tropical living.
