Beautiful location in a well loved home

  • 5 of 5

This house on the Santa Fe River had everything we could want in a vacation rental. The owners live up the road, met us at the house for a tour and offered all sorts of help including a shuttle if we wanted to tube down the Santa Fe.

This older house was immaculately kept, the beds comfortable, the kitchen well equipped. The wifi and satellite TV worked great. We just brought food. Everything else we could possibly need was there, including paper products and plenty of towels. Our dog loved the securely fenced yard. Hummingbirds visited the feeder on the big upper porch and deer grazed in the lot next door.

The spring-fed river is great for swimming, there is a very nice floating dock and a lovely swing right down by the river's edge. Many of the most beautiful springs you'll ever see are less than a half hour away.

We rent a lot of homes for vacations, and some of them have been very 'fancy'. But this is the one I want to come back to, again and again.

I've been renting through VRBO for a decade and this is the only place I've stayed that really felt like a well-loved HOME. It is not a glitzy rental. It IS a comfortable, inviting, attractive, welcoming place to relax and really enjoy a slow paced vacation.

The kitchen is well-stocked with all the appliances and utensils you'd need to create a gourmet meal - if that's your thing. There's a large grill in a lovely picnic area if you want to turn the guys loose to fix dinner. Everything - indoors and out - is ship shape, thoughtfully planned and well executed. It is obvious the home and grounds have been lovingly cared for.

The river is so soothing just to sit and watch; and, if you are lucky like I was, see some manatees! If you like to kayak or canoe, there are many places upriver to put in and paddle or drift back "home".

The host and hostess are very friendly and helpful, close by but not intrusive. They've provided all sorts of games, dvds and equipment to keep a family busy and happy with enjoyable, wholesome diversions.

It is an easy drive to High Springs or Gainesville but the setting is just so pleasant there is just no desire to leave.

River Bend Oasis is a paradise. Best vacation EVER!

We planned this Thanksgiving weekend with my family. We could not have asked for a better place to give thanks for all the blessings!. We enjoyed sitting on the porche with a cup of hot chocolat and the gorgeous view of the River! We cooked one the best barbeque on the back yard, we took amazing pictures!! My kids did enjoy canoing and the Springs around the area!

The hosts of this house Pam & Rich are so nice and are so helpful. We really enjoy this gettaway!

amazing last minute getaway

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing getaway! The pics don't do justice to this amazing little spot on the Santa Fe River. Sitting on the upstairs porch was beyond tranquil... spotting, hummingbirds, squirrels, cardinals etc. Sitting on the dock and spotting manatees(what a treat) and sitting on the swing right on the river just soaking it all in. It was a much needed moment for me and my husband. We went to paddle board and the property owner said don't miss the opportunity to launch from the 49 bridge and make the 5 mile travel, so so so worth it! This area is so beautiful and the house met beyond our expectations, fire pit, gas grill, picnic table etc. House was fully equipped so we cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rich and Pam are beyond amazing! Thank you for your hospitality. Don't look any further, this IS the place!

Exceeded expectations in every way

  • 5 of 5

First time booking on VRBO, and in a remote area of Florida I knew very little about, so I sort of went into this experience blindly other than seeing the pictures, reviews and information on this site....and I could not have been happier I did. As soon as we drove up to the property, we knew we made the right decision. Meeting the owners, Pam and Richard, further confirmed it. Truly awesome 4-night vacation, exceeding expectations in every way. The property was beautiful, peaceful and spacious. The owners were as nice and hospitable as can be and clearly thought everything out in making the whole rental experience a perfect and seamless one. We didn't want to leave, and neither did our two dogs. Our stay included kayaking, hiking, visiting Gainesville for a day (about 50 minutes away), and most important just hanging out on the balcony of the house reading, relaxing and staring at the fantastic view of the river. For dinner we stayed in for two nights and did some grilling. The other nights we went out to eat at great restaurants they recommended about 30 minutes away ( Note: everything is about 30 minutes away). No complaints at all, except maybe that I did not get ATT cellphone service there, although that was probably a blessing in disguise. And they did have very reliable Wi-Fi anyway, so I stayed connected. All was great, and we all (including our dogs) hated to leave. We will be back for sure.

Very beautiful and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

The house was large, very well equipped, the beds were very comfortable and the owners were wonderful. The view from the back deck was very serene and relaxing. You can hop right off the dock and float downstream. Beautiful night skies, played guitars at night by the fire, took advantage of the grill almost every night. If you want to get away from the city and enjoy quite country life, this is the place.
