Hill Flats DC is an owner managed luxury 1880 brownstone on the first residential block across the street from the Library of Congress and Folgers Shakespeare theater. Just a short walk away you will have immediate access to the US Capitol, US Supreme Court, and The National Mall.
This is the ultimate location if you are looking for immediate access to all of Washington DC's historic sites.
The building is also just few blocks away from eastern market/union station/capitol south metro stops in addition to numerous bus lines.
There are dozens of restaurants, cafes, and bar's within a few minute walk. You are also a few blocks away from eastern market. Capitol bike share is located nearby. Walkscore is 94.
The private apartment is on the second floor of a 4 unit historic 1880 building. The flat has been freshly remodeled and has a fully appointed kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, and marble bathroom tile. For your sleeping arrangements we have 1 queen size pillow top mattress bed, 1 Queen size Spring/Air combination sofa bed. We also have an additional queen size air mattress which is available upon request.
This is one of the most charming and well preserved buildings on one of the most desired blocks in Washington dc.

Since being built in 1880 numerous Senators, Congressmen, artists, and academics have all resided at what is now Hill Flats.
The building was previously used as a lecture hall and residence for scholars conducting research at the Library of Congress which is across the street.
Due to the buildings immediate proximity to national monuments, the National Park Service and Washington DC has designated Hill Flats a Historic building and has registered it under the Capitol Overlay and Fine Arts District. This designation ensures that all preservation is conducted under the direction of the Architect of the Capitol.
Hill Flats has been meticulously preserved while ensuring that it meets modern comforts.

Incredible architecture and historic charm in an unbeatable location.
Small but clean and comfortable walk-up in a tree-lined residential neighborhood, ideally situated within walking distance to shops, restaurants, services, and everything on the Mall. Beds and linens were decent, updated bath and kitchen both very nice (new appliances, counters, etc), although the kitchen was a bit under-equipped to be truly functional. And, as others have noted, the wifi signal is weak. Otherwise, we loved it. The owner, Gene, could not have been more helpful in terms of advice, directions and recommendations. An unexpected power outage was attended to professionally and pro-actively. We especially enjoyed the Eastern Market, We The Pizza and Brasserie Beck during our visit. Would recommend this unit and hope to stay here again!
The unit is obviously old. It seems highly unlikely that 4 people could stay here. There are no dressers and no table to eat at. But for two it was ok.
Can't beat the location, well maintained property and comfortable. Owner is local, very responsive, and knowledgeable about the area. This will be a go to property for any return trips we have.

Excellent location! Wonderful eateries and locals. Loved the Tune Inn, Hanks Oyster Bar and Sonoma. Apartment was clean and cozy. Only negatives, wifi did not work well, bathroom is off kitchen and a little awkward, bed was not too comfortable. Lastly, there were only two of us and we could have used more towels and toilet paper. Definitely lots a character and charming!
If you want to experience downtown DC, this is a wonderful location. Close to the Metro and bus stops. Just 2 blocks from the Library of Congress and the Capital. Lots of restaurants nearby. Walking distance to the Smithsonian Mall. If you are counting on the wireless to do much streaming or want to do any work, you might want to bring your own hotspot. The wireless was inconsistent and not good reception in some areas of the apartment.
