Hill Flats DC is an owner managed luxury 1880 brownstone on the first residential block across the street from the Library of Congress and Folgers Shakespeare Theater. Just a short walk away you will have immediate access to the US Capitol, US Supreme Court, and The National Mall.

This is the ultimate location if you are looking for immediate walk-able access to all of Washington DC's historic sites.

The building is also just few blocks away from Eastern Market and Barracks Row. For public transportation the property is a short walk to Union Station and Capitol South Metro stops in addition to numerous bus lines.

There are dozens of restaurants, cafes, and bar's within a few minute walk. There is also a neighborhood grocery store around the corner. Capitol bike share is located nearby. Walkscore is 94.

The private apartment is on the first floor of a 4 unit historic 1880 building. The flat has been freshly remodeled and has a fully appointed kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, and marble bathroom tile. For your sleeping arrangements we have 1 queen size pillow top mattress bed, 1 queen size combination spring + air sofa bed, and 1 full size combination spring + air sofa bed. We also have an additional queen size air mattress which is available upon request.

The unit comes with everything you need to make your stay comfortable.

This is one of the most charming and well preserved buildings on one of the most desired blocks in Washington DC.

Since being built in 1880 numerous Senators, Congressmen, artists, and academics have all resided at what is now Hill Flats.

The building was previously used as a lecture hall and residence for scholars conducting research at the Library of Congress which is across the street.

Due to the buildings immediate proximity to national monuments, the National Park Service and Washington DC has designated Hill Flats a Historic building and has registered it under the Capitol Overlay and Fine Arts District. This designation ensures that all preservation is conducted under the direction of the Architect of the Capitol.

LOCATION! LOCATION!

This was the first time for my wife and I visiting Washington D.C. With the help of my son who attended college nearby, we chose this nice flat through VRBO near everything. After we put away our belongings we went for stroll to our Nations Capitol and surrounding buildings. It is an easy short walk in a wonderful safe feeling neighborhood! A short stroll to some nice restaurants to get a bite just down the street. As far as the interior and floor plan goes, it was very clean and layout was fine. The only thing that was a bit strange was the only bath is at the very back of the unit , but doesn't change the fact that this place worked very well for us. We felt very comfortable here and would definitely consider booking this flat in the future too. If you are looking for something in a nice, safe feeling environment close to the Capitol etc.. This is it! Make sure you try the Big Bus Tour of the Wash DC area. We did the day tour and night tour. Give your feet a break!

Excellent location and neighborhood!

We loved the location and felt very safe in this neighborhood. Our family walked in the evenings to the corner market and really enjoyed the view of the capital along the way. Having a full kitchen is a plus for us and this worked great for our family. But I must say that walking through the second bedroom to the only bathroom might be a bit awkward if you are not a close family or just friends. Worked fine for us though..We would definitely stay here again when we visit DC!

Awesome Flat in an Awesome Location

My wife and I, along with our daughter and husband, had a wonderful stay at this flat. A great convenient location and beautiful and very safe neighborhood. The flat is in a cool old building with excellent upgrades including high-end appliances (gas stove was awesome). Lots of space and extremely clean. The owner doesn't expect the renters to do much cleaning - no brooms, mops or vacuums available. We felt guilty so did the best we could including washing the towels (which were plentiful). We stayed for a full week and took advantage of the high-end new washer and dryer. Very practical for 4 and 6 if use the pull-out in the living room although with a single bathroom might be a bit inconvenient.

Highly recommend and we hope to make this an annual week long visit.

Perfect location

Great location! Response was great to any questions. We arrived early and the unit was available so they allowed us to check in early!!. In addition when the hair dryer was not working they sent another one over right away. Would highly recommend to anyone traveling to DC. Location was great! Easy walk to Market, the Capital and bike rentals...

Great location for tourists!

Cannot beat this location for visiting and sight seeing. Made the National Mall completely walkable. Very nice neighborhood/street, with a really pretty front window. Place is small and narrow (a previous review noted the bathroom is at the back of the place, and you have to walk through bedrooms to get there). Still, would absolutely rent again. Contacted Colin several times with questions and to help me out with the door code- he was quick, professional, and helpful. Would rent again if staying on Capitol Hill again!

Great location!!

Fabulous location! Close to metro, Capitol and Mall, and good restaurants. Only issues were location of one bathroom at very back of property requiring one to walk through both bedrooms to get there, no door separating 2nd bedroom from kitchen, and very poor lighting in bedrooms ( different from website). Wood floors meant some noise above as well. Owner was helpful and responsive and we had a great trip but would have appreciated knowing the above.
