Scott and Linda Jamieson
About Scott and Linda Jamieson
We are expats from the United States who were brought together by our love of life, love for each other and the realization that life is a precious gift to be lived fully. Linda grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and after college graduation headed to Boston for a career in retail with the dream of becoming a fashion designer. She then returned to Cedar Rapids to start a family and later began a career as a healthcare executive. Scott started life in New England and took off for what he called "the yellow brick road." After 30 years of corporate life he surrendered to the nagging inconsistency of that life and his inner call for service. At age 48, he returned to college to get a degree in Philosophy and at age 61, became an ordained minister after graduating Vanderbilt University with his Master's Degree. Since 2011, Scott has worked in prisons and jails in Nashville with incarcerated men, most recently starting the Church Of Another Chance, a church that works exclusively with men while they are locked up and once they are released. We met in 2005 when we were introduced by a mutual friend in Iowa who, get ready for this, spends part of each year in Roatan. We had never heard of the place before then. Now, that we own a house here, we are reminded of how mysteriously life unfolds. We were married in 2011 and have 3 grown children: one in Denver, one in Minneapolis and one in New Orleans.
Scott and Linda Jamieson purchased this House in 2017
Why Scott and Linda Jamieson chose Sandy Bay
Casa de Gracia has a rich history of being a home for peaceful travelers who live with a sense of both adventure and commitment to uplifting the world around them. The house was originally built by missionaries and has a long history of welcoming missionaries, churches and wanderers who thirst for the blend of being of service to others, a desire to experience a different way of life, and a chance to be enveloped by the Tropics. Linda immediately fell in love with the house and together we recognized that its DNA as a place devoted to hospitality, compassion for the human journey, and fellowship called to us as our future home. The house is located just beyond the immediate reach of the more touristy areas of the island yet embedded deeply in the heritage of the island with a wonderful mix of expats and islanders enabling people to have a memorable, safe, and relaxing vacation. The blend of an intoxicating beachfront setting, spectacular sunsets with a spacious and lovingly cared for house called us from our comfortable life in Nashville to be the owners of this special place.
What makes this House unique
This is the perfect house, large enough to comfortably host large groups, and cozy enough to provide an intimate, relaxed get-away for couples. The location of the house couldn't be better: it's a 10 minute ride to the airport, close to shopping, right next to two restaurants, and a dive shop; the popular West End is a couple miles away and the beach is right out front providing plenty of soft fine sand to make long, peaceful walks in the morning to watch the sunrise slowly awaken paradise from its sleep to begin another day. While the sunrises, sunsets and beach are the main attraction, the front of the house is gorgeous with its tropical gardens. There are banana trees dripping with their fruit, cashew trees and avocado trees reminding us that guacamole is always best when made from scratch. There are almond trees, and a variety of spectacular flowers to show us that when we take a few moments to reflect on our world it is filled with unexplainable beauty.

Spacious home, beautiful views
Our multigenerational family of seven loved our stay at Casa de Gracia. The hosts were gracious, responsive, kind and helpful. The house is beautiful and comfortable, well-appointed and well-situated. We used the kayaks, two at a time, to explore and snorkel the reef behind the house. It was harder for the non-kayaking folks among us to access the water. We also loved the team at Octopus Dive School, a short walk along the beach, for scuba diving. We hope to come back soon!
Scott & Linda made our stay absolutely fantastic. It was our first time on the Island. They were so gracious making sure everything was perfect. They helped us plan our day trips and went as far to help arrange rides. They gave us names of places to see and made sure we had s great stay. I would highly recommend staying at this property. The grounds are also so beautiful. You feel secluded but are close to restaurants and bars. Fabulous sunsets on the deck! Can’t wait to go back. Thank you Scott and Linda for making our vacation better than I could have expected. I really miss their dog Jeb. What a sweet soul. 💕🐾
We loved having you guys at Casa de Gracia. It's fun for us to see guests relax and enjoy the beauty of the home and the grounds, as well as explore the splendor of the island. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Jeb misses you, and we join him in hoping we get to see you again soon. And, thanks for taking such great care of our home.
Beautiful home and perfect location
We just returned from a week's vacation on wonderful Roatan. Scott and Linda's home was the perfect choice for the 4 of us (but would have handled about 7 more easily) and we found it not to be lacking in any way. The kitchen was well stocked and every room had an A/C unit if needed. Being very close to the airport, West End, Eldon's grocery as well as two restaurants we could walk to, was a real bonus. We used the kayaks almost daily to snorkle the reef directly in front of the house and view the always changing assortment of fish in clear, warm water. With recommendations from Scott and Linda we also enjoyed discovering some of the wonderful places and always friendly people of Roatan. The best was The Salty Mango practically next door, and the Wednesday night "game" was a hoot! Would love to return someday.
Thank you, Scott and Linda for being such great hosts!
We so loved having you guys here. You guys were fun, eager to explore the island and had lots of adventures kayaking and snorkeling right out in front of the house. We also really appreciate the thoughtful care you gave the house. It was immaculate when you left. And, please tell Roger that we liked his idea of an improved way to tie up the kayaks so much, that both kayaks now have shining with stainless steel caribiners. Hope u guys come back and see us. We'd love that.
Great Location! Well equipped
Scott & Linda are well connected and respected in the community. If you need Anything, they are there, ready to help. Very nice people. I look forward to staying with them again.
The house was clean and well maintained, inside and out. Great kitchen, very well equipped. Perfect for family and friends to gather with enough room for some privacy too. The decks are super comfy!
Aside from great snorkeling & diving just beyond the dock .. Like seriously .. Right There! I recommend hopping in a kayak and heading east to the Mangroves near Blue Harbor. There are spots where the trees open into what feels like another world with deep pools of cool looking critters. On the way back there is a little Restaurant / Coffee Shop with excellent Food (breakfast and lunch) seating inside, on the deck or on the beach. Right next to that is a resort with a Massage area and cool little Shops, reasonably priced too!
For Dinner or Snacks and/or Cocktails One MUST visit the Salty Mango, it's a short walk (200 yards or so) West (left) on the beach, just up the hill behind Blue Island Divers. Try the Coconut Shrimp, or Fried Lobster (if in season). Great prices fabulous service.
Everything West End and the like have to offer is a short drive or cab ride away. I recommend taking time to Day-trip to East end as well. The drive is lovely and there are tons of little towns and beaches to check out on the way.
Such a great time having you guys here at Casa de Gracia. We loved your sense of adventure, getting to know the community and the local people. And thanks for bringing backpacks, and school supplies...so needed here. Thanks for that! And thanks for taking such good care of the house. We'd love to have you back. peace friend.
We love, love loved this house. It was even better than the pictures show. It was clean and everything was in good working order. If you need WiFi, it was strong and reliable.
The view was amazing, you can see the waves break on the reef directly in front of the house. We actually did a dive in front of the house, Captain Ron’s Reef.
An unexpected bonus of the house is that you can walk to Octopus Dive School. There are two good lunch spots within walking distance also.
Scott and Linda were amazing owners. They made restaurant recommendations and then made our reservations.
We will be back again.
We are so glad you had a memorable trip to Roatan and Casa de Gracia. The bonus for us in owning this peaceful place is getting to meet truly nice people like you and Alex. Looking forward to seeing you again. peace
Great place on a very special island
This place was great. We loved it. This place is exactly as advertised by Scott and Linda. The place is big enough for many more people but we had a very small group and we had tons and tons of room. The place was immaculate and you can tell Scott and Linda really care for their house. This is not a trashed party pad. It is a very nice rental. The kitchen had a good fridge, good stove and blenders and coffee maker so we had all we needed. The bathrooms had working showers and toilets and sinks with nice tile. We had windows open almost always, but on the one or two hot days when I needed a nap, the AC kept me cool in my room. I understand island water/elec so we did not have AC blasting with open windows. But we were assured that the many AC units can cool the entire house if needed. We just never got hot with he widows open/ceiling fans. The deck is awesome. I spent maybe 10-15 hours that week chilling on the deck staring at the ocean. We all spent a lot of time on that awesome deck. We used the kayaks. We used their snorkel gear. We used their beach towels. They gave us a cooler to use for the week. I cannot think of anything we wanted but did not have. Scott and Linda are 2 of the nicest people I can remember meeting. They will bend over backward to make sure your stay is perfect. They answered every question we asked. They have great recommendations and arranged car service for us several times. Its pretty darn cool to tell Scott what you want to do all day tomorrow and walk out the next day to find a van to take you to 3-4 different places.
One last thing. If you are familiar with island currents and sea grass etc, you know these reef beaches tend to fill up with seaweed etc. Linda raked her beach every single day and I promise you, there is no better white beach within 2 miles of their house. They really care for their property and tend to the grounds meticulously.
Thanks, Dave. We are glad you guys had such a good time on Roatan, and happy that you chose Casa de Gracia for your getaway. Thanks for taking such good care of the house and being such fun and memorable guests. Hope y'all come back and see us. peace scott and linda
