INSIDE THE LOFT

Here are some design highlights: 'scarlet bedroom', black marbled fireplace, Venetian mirror, Belgian wallpaper... and the a closet from 1930!

During 1950’s, my grandfather owned one of the finest fabric industries in Madrid and we used some at this home: indigo blue velvet for the cute armchair, and orange for the couch.

The Master bedroom, with impressive 3.5m high ceilings, has a queen size bed, and a scarlet headboard from the same fabrics, on a silver painted wall. Side tables and reading lamps on both sides. Convenient spacious wardrobe with drawers. You will have a quiet sleep in this bedroom.

The living has two 3m high balconies that fill the space with all day - natural light and 2 sofas, 32'hd TV, a cute 1950's blue velvet armchair, and a white 'coffee table'.

Large dinning table for 4 people. Above it, check the vintage oval mirrors, and a hand printed photography gallery.

Full equipped Kitchen with washer and dishwasher (makes a difference on your holidays!) and spacious storage cabinets. Full bathroom with walk in shower accessible from the living.

CAPACITY

Up to 4 people without bumping on each other.

Both beds (queen and double) are separated from each other, and bedroom has a door. And a bed sofa for 2 people in the living (air bed available too).

AMENITIES

-Double sleeper sofa for 2 people in the living.

-AC (both in the living and bedroom): important in hot season.

-Free fast WI-FI.

-32' new Blaupunkt HD TV.

-Towels, duvet, bed linens

-2 large closets for your luggage (one for each bed).

-Microwave/ Grill

-Fridge – freezer.

-Washer and Dishwasher; soap provided.

-Espresso coffee maker, sandwich grill, kettle

-Vacuum cleaner, drying clothes rack, hair dryer.

-Baby cot under demand.

-Sugar, coffee, olive oil......for your first breakfast.

WITHIN THE BUILDING

Apartment is a on second floor (well, 1.5 above the ground, in fact). Update: Elevator has been installed on September 2016.

ABOUT THE AREA

No less than 3 metro stations within minutes walk. you won't need public transportation, as you can walk to most attractions.

Fast connection from the airport to metro Plaza España and to train station Principe Pio.

WALKING DISTANCES to some landmarks:

-Royal Palace: 5 minutes.

-Relax at Sabatini Royal Gardens: 5 minutes.

-Shopping at Gran Via Avenue and Callao Square: 3 minutes.

-Take a breath at Plaza España gardens: 2 minutes.

-Breathtaking sunsets at Debod Egyptian Temple: 5 minutes.

-Opera Square: 5 minutes.

-Conde Duque Art and Music Centre. 8 minutes.

Find supermarkets along the apartment street, and a whole range of restaurants on Gran Via.

Gran Via embodies a century of Madrid's history. You will find large cinemas halls, elegant hotels, and lots of grand art deco architecture along this vibrant avenue.

At the other side of Gran Via, take a walk through the bohemian barrio of Triball, the newest area with cool restaurants, independent boutiques and stylish bars (former local business as drycleaners, or fish markets).

Around Templo Debod, a cute and small real Egyptian temple, mix with Madrileños who gather every sunset on the gardens. At one side of Plaza España find up to 4 different cinemas. 'El Plaza' is one of my favourite live music spots in the city.

Near by is the Royal Palace, from XVIII century, a 'must go' in Madrid. Sabatini Royal Gardens are a release from the centre. Royal Theatre and its pedestrian square 'Opera' is another popular spot with street artists.

Finally, Conde Duque Art and Music Centre holds excellent shows and music venues year round, on a XVIII century refurbished military caserne. It is now a gorgeous modern architecture space.

Beautiful home, excellent spot

  • 5 of 5

I stayed with a friend in Jose's beautifully decorated apartment (with stunning high ceilings and large windows + a French balcony) for three nights and found it the perfect spot for our stay in Madrid. This comfortable and well equipped home is in a very good location for exploring Madrid either by walking or by metro but also wonderfully quiet to sleep in. I was welcomed by Lupe and all communications with Jose were very good. Highly recommended! Thank you Jose!

Excellent location and. Nice accommodations

  • 5 of 5

We were met at the apartment exactly as arranged, everything was in order and very clean. The location is excellent; the apartment is close to the metro, to Plaza de Espana, the Royal Palace and the Cathedral. It is easy walking distance to Puerta del Sol, and the Plaza Mayor. There are many grocery stores nearby, and nice, inexpensive restaurants. It was perfect for our plans.

Great location but needs some attention

  • 3 of 5

A couple of things on this place we will have to put in our review. It is in a great location to get to everything, the metro and all of Madrid is right there. But there are several things that are need to do to make it a place better to stay at. The bed is small and so old and it has a depression in the center that we both rolled into. Very uncomfortable. The shower is moldy and needs at least to be bleached clean. The small bugs like it but it smells. The shower drain is clogged and is close to flowing over onto the floor by the end of a shower. The toilet does not flush properly at all. You might want to install a toilet paper holder. You may also want to have some toilet paper, hand soap, napkins on hand. If it was a long term rental it is expected to bring your own but not less than a 5 day rental. Some things you can't address is the very loud noise from the plumbing and the neighbors. It is in an emerging neighborhood with several grocery stores on the same street. Also a police station 4 doors up but no noise from them.

If you have trouble with stairs the elevator is not finished as of 11/16. Check to see when it will be operational before you book if you have much luggage and have problems with several flights of stairs.

Owner's Response: Thanks Karen for your comments. This is Jose, the owner. They do make us improve. I am glad you enjoyed the central location, quiet apartment and street, vey safe as Police Headquarters a few metters away. We apologize for maintenance failures. Following your words, this is how we addressed them: 1. bed has been replaced with a new 10" Firm Mattress. 2. Shower and shower drain has been thoroughly cleaned (what you noticed was no mold, but silicone sealant). 3. Extra toilet paper, napkins, etc: they are there, inside kitchen cabinets, but you didn't notice. Finally, and best news, the elevator installation finsished this week. Jose.

Nice apartment at good location

  • 4 of 5

Good location (walking distance to all important sights). Perfectly clean. The hosts were very kind, providing a lot of useful information. Well equipped (apartment & kitchen).

For better review/impressions: refresh the apartment (walls), closet door hard to handle (often stuck), the shower needs to be changed.

Great location!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful apartment one block from the Gran Via and five minutes from the Royal Palace.

Walked to restaurants, grocery store, shopping. Very convenient to our travel agency where we would walk to catch all our tours around Madrid. Easy place to catch a cab. Attractive and comfortable apartment. Kitchen was convenient for breakfast and snacks when we didn't go out to eat. One block from El Museo del Jamon tapas bar! Owner extremely helpful and responsive to all our needs. Great and easy check in. Highly recommended!

Great Location!

  • 4 of 5

We used this apartment as our base while traveling around Spain for 10 days. The location is great for traveling to and from the airport and the Renfe train station. Places of interest and shopping are just a stone's throw away whether you turn left or right from the apartment. The apartment was clean and large enough for 3 people. The only drawback was it is on the 3rd floor with no elevator which is common for most apartments in Europe. Would certainly recommend to my friends.

Owner's Response: Dear Ken. It was great having you with us, thanks for your feedback. We only have a small remark: the loft is on a second floor (technically 1.5 above the ground), not on a third floor, as you mention. Good news for next guests is: elevator is being built this month. No more two floors up the stairs.
