House, 3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Lovely A-frame house nestled in a quiet wooded lot on a culdesac. Just minutes from local attractions including historic sites, outdoor activities and easy access to NYC.

House is completely furnished with new furniture and appliances. Lovely outdoor eating area overlooks woods and small, quiet stream. You can barbecue on the gas grill and the large deck is perfect for relaxing, reading and conversation.

The 3 Bedrooms include 3 queen sized beds which will accommodate 6 people. All linens are provided. there is one full bath with shower and tub on the second floor and a half bath on the first floor. One bedroom is a loft with a balcony overlooking the living room.

Cable, internet connections are included. Brand new washer, dryer. Filtered water as well. Please note that although there is a large open fireplace in the living room my guests will not be able to use it. My insurance company has deemed it to hazardous. Please honor this and be safe.

The lovely old trees provide plenty of shade and natural cooling. This is a perfect place to vacation whether you would like to stay at home and lounge in the yard or on the patio or take in the many sites and sounds of the gorgeous Hudson Valley. Winter is also a good time to visit this area, ski areas are in close proximity and rail trails are available for free cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

There is rock climbing and hiking in the beautiful Shawangunks or visiting local art galleries and historic places like FDR estate in Hyde Park. Several colleges in the area have music and theater. Woodstock is 20miles away. Plenty for children to do with public swimming and children's activities close by.

About Madeline Labriola

I am a retired school administrator who has lived in the Hudson Valley my entire life. I like to spend the summer in RI with my children and grandchildren. This year I will also spend most of the winter there. My house is so lovely that I want to share it with others. I have been renting for 5 summers while I go to RI and everyone who stays here enjoys themselves. I love to cook so the kitchen is very well equipped with nice appliances and cooking utensils. I am an avid outdoor enthusiast so the large outdoor area is great for eating or birdwatching.

Why Madeline Labriola chose Hudson Valley

This property is close to many major points of interest but private. Access to so many places is very easy. There are buses going into Poughkeepsie and New Paltz if you prefer not to drive. The rail trail system is a short distance away and there is easy access to the Walkway Over the Hudson.

There is always something to do for adults and children. Check the local paper for activities and restaurant guide.

What makes this house unique

This house has a lovely 'feel' to it and you will immediately feel at home. The rooms are large and gently decorated with hardwood floors throughout. It is easy to care for and lovely to look at. I especially like the outdoor space where it is fun to read and relax.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I had the pleasure of staying at this house for a week. On the day of my arrival ,the owner arranged for me to be greeted by a friend who very kindly had prepared a list of restaurants and must sees in the area. I was able to stock the refrigerator at the local supermarket. Shop-rite, Stop&Shop, health food markets are just 5 minutes away. My son drove in with my grandson. That evening, we picked up my daughter-in-law from the Poughkeepsie train station (10 minutes away). I found a walk-in yoga class nearby. We spent the 4th at Mohonk Mountain House. On Friday, my daughter-in-law and I returned to the Mohonk House for wonderful spa treatments. All in all, we had a great time. We are thinking of returning next year and making this our yearly summer family vacation spot.

Perfect House in beautiful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

As soon as we pulled on to the drive we knew the house would be a home from home. Such a lovely vibe. House has everything you need, beds are very very comfortable. Kitchen, dining & living areas are all perfect for entertaining and spending time with loved ones. The backyard is very woodsy and has a lovely view of the mountains and a horses field. The Mid Hudson bridge is a short drive away so Poughkeepsie is easy to get to. The walkway over the Hudson is a must for any visitor and easily accessible from here. Poughkeepsie station is a short drive and once on the train, NYC is about 1.5hrs away. Woodbury Common 40-45 mins drive, a shoppers paradise. We will be back for another stay the next time we are over from the UK (Summer 2018). Thanks Madeline, our stay was perfect.

Nestled in the woods

  • 4 of 5

Thank you so much. Got back home late last night. Was a cold wet rainy weekend but making the best of it proved to make us challenging. We saw a lot of sights and missed quite a few as well. Man, I want to get back down that way. I had never been before. Daughter ended up staying from PA and granddaughter stayed a night too. Again thank you.

This property is nestled in a little bit of wooded area. While we were there, a flock of turkeys walked right in front of the door! It is very comfortable. Everything one would need to cook with is furnished. The deck is a plus. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your house!

Cozy & Woodsy

  • 4 of 5

This is a comfortable & roomy A -Frame in a wooded little cul de sac, with a generous back deck that's very private, right off the main highway here. The 3 Bedrooms are all comfortable and we enjoyed the outdoor ambiance of having our coffee on the deck every morning & the sounds of the tree frogs and cicadas each evening we were here. While gone all day, we came back to cook most meals, eat on the deck, and enjoyed a very restful sleep in this little spot.

The property was clean, reasonably well maintained, though rustic. Kitchen appliances worked well, but it could use a few new kitchen tools like a new fry pan or 2, but we mostly had what we needed. We'd definitely come back again if we were returning to the area.

Beautiful experience, five stars

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful getaway. The house was exactly as pictured, if not more beautiful. It's completely secluded save the barely noticeable sounds of the main road behind the home. The kitchen was fully stocked, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was well kept. Madeline was great and made sure we were taken care of. We will definitely be back.

Owner's Response: Dear Margie Thank you for your lovely comments. It was a pleasure hosting you and I appreciate your patience with the little glitches that came along. I will also take into consideration your suggestions for improvement, this type of feedback is very valuable to me. BTW my cousin fixed the door without a problem. Just normal wear and tear, not your fault, so no charge for damage. Hope you will come back again. Sincerely Madeline

Highly Recommended Country Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here last Summer and were quickly reminded why we came back. This house and yard provide us a country vacation setting that is only a short drive to a variety of very good restaurants and our choice of great parks to walk our dogs. The dogs also love that they can sit outside with me and have a yard to roam around. You can enjoy the deck and the view or do so many things in Highland/New Paltz, as well as the Hudson Valley Region. Madeline is very accessible and accommodating if you need to reach her. We highly recommend renting this house!!

Ideal Upstate Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We were five people looking for a house to stay for a writing retreat and we definitely found what we were looking for. The house is located in a quiet location, surrounded by nature. The back porch is big and offers opportunity for a BBQ. The travel there was convenient for us as we were coming from the city. We didn't have a car, so we took the Metro North Train to Poughkeepsie and got to the house by taxi for twenty dollars. The house has an open architecture and the rooms are bigger than the photos suggest. The kitchen is well equipped and overall the house was well supplied (kitchen paper, gas for the grill, towels, bedsheets, etc). And most importantly Madeline is a great host and it was a pleasure for us to stay at her beautiful house. We'd definitely plan to come back!

This area is rich in history and culture so there is a great deal to do. My favorite areas are Minnewaska State Park and the Mohonk Preserve where you can hike, bike, bird watch and swim. The now famous Walkway OVer the Hudson is one of the newest attractions. If you like rock climbing there is the world famous Shawangunk Ridge a few miles away.

FDR library, Vanderbilt Mansion are beautiful historic sites that are close by. Vassar, Bard, Marist and New Paltz College close by for art exhibits, theater, music. Many free outdoor concerts in town and nearby.
