Overview

About the property

Cottage sleeps 2. Complete kitchen & bath. Skylights.

Rose Cottage is located in our own rose garden. The theme of the Cottage is Mexican ceramics. The bathroom features a hand-painted ceramic sink. Mexican tiles surround the bath. All flooring is adobe tile. Vibrant Latin colors and paintings adorn the walls. The full kitchen and spacious bathroom are well lit by large windows, skylights and chandeliers. The firm double bed comfortably sleeps 2 adults.

Disclosures: Rose Cottage is located in the lower garden of our main house. We operate a child-care program in the main house and garden Monday-Friday 7:30AM-5:30PM. The children go on daily morning walks to local parks, and return for lunch and naps at noon. They usually play in the garden from 3-5:30pm. If you are uncomfortable with the sounds of children playing and interacting, the Cottage might not be the best place for you during weekdays. You are welcome to contact us if you have any questions about this.

About Dennis & Susan Sibilia-Young

We arrived in Eugene 23 years ago, and raised our children here. We have spent the years creating beautiful gardens. We love sharing our space with others. Currently, we share the outdoor garden space with children in our child-care business. These children are aged 2-5. They spend short periods of time in the garden during mornings and afternoons (Monday-Friday).

Dennis & Susan Sibilia-Young purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Dennis & Susan Sibilia-Young chose Southeast Eugene

The construction of Rose Cottage was a labor of love. We brought many of the tiles back from our trips to Mexico. The hand-painted bathroom sink was brought as hand-carried luggage from Tonalá, Jalisco. These (and the location in our rose garden) provided the inspiration for creating a peaceful and renewing retreat.

What makes this cottage unique

Lots of light. Beautiful country garden setting in the city.

Peaceful, tranquil, and inviting

  • 4 of 5

This is beautiful get away cottage in a quiet part of Eugene. I didn't spend much time there, but I could have and would have enjoyed the escape. I would try to improve the wireless system. Unfortunately this is the world we live in and better stronger wireless is always a plus. I loved the place and would recommend it to all.

Convenient location

  • 4 of 5

Good location. Cottage was cute and located in the middle of Daycare. I didn't know that till 2days before my arrival. They moved around in different places so it wasn't noisy all the time. But if you are planning to have quiet time in cottage, it's not for you. Also it was a little hard because no air conditioning. Especially when the temperature went up to around 90 degrees. The owner told me Wifi wasn't strong enough to sustain streaming. But even it wasn't strong enough to update apps nor google. It was too slow. It was very frustrating. Other than that it's in a safe neighborhood and fun to take a walk.

Very cute and charming for 1 or 2 people. Overall a good choice, but there is room for a few improve

  • 4 of 5

This cottage is cheery, bright, and charming for 1 or 2 people, especially if you book it for a weekend or plan to be out and about most of the day during the week. There is a childcare program operating on the property during the day, and there is some noise associated with that. It could be distracting if you wanted to sit outside. But evenings, weekends, indoors...really not an issue, and the little kids are cute. The kitchenette is adequate but could be better equipped with a few more utensils and accessories. It would be nice to have some basics like salt and pepper, etc., provided. All in all, the cottage is quite comfortable with one exception. I stayed there when the weather was very hot; and, although there is a large fan provided, I couldn't really cool the place down much. I think the problem is that many of the windows don't open, and some that do don't have screens on them. The difficulty seemed to be that, if I opened more windows to try to achieve some cross ventilation, I would probably be inviting bugs to come in. I made do with opening the 2 bathroom windows, which are equipped with screens, and turning on the fan. But that just didn't seem to do the trick. I think there needs to be a small, window air conditioner or maybe it would work to have screens on more windows to try to increase the air circulation when using the fan.
