Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday home in Port Saint Joe - Sweetwater Cottage

Views!!1st Tier, 2 BR/2 BA (4-6 people) Cozy Cottage-located on the beach access

Sweetwater Cottage was just completed summer 2013! You will love the convenient location and extra amenities of this custom-built cottage which is only about 100 steps to the beautiful, white, sandy beach.

With its 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a dining area and hammock on its large screened porch and ample covered parking, this beautifully decorated home can easily accommodate a family or two couples...but is still small enough for lovers on a romantic getaway!!

We also try to simplify what you need to pack by providing:

linens

bath towels (6 sets)

beach towels (4 sets)

starter supply of: paper towels, toilet paper, bath soap and detergents

cooler w/ wheels

beach cart

beach chairs (4 to 6)

beach umbrella

grill

crabbing nets & buckets

boogie boards, rafts and beach toys!

You can enjoy the sweeping Gulf views and spectacular sunsets from almost every room in the house or while you are dining on the large screened porch with ceiling fans.

Floor Plan:

The GROUND LEVEL has ample covered parking and a storage room that contains the washer & dryer as well as a plentiful supply of beach chairs, rafts and beach toys for your convenience. There is also an outdoor shower with hot water and a fish-cleaning sink and a portable Weber charcoal grill with lid.

The MAIN LEVEL is up a short flight of stairs which is entered through a large screened porch that spans across the entire front of the home. The porch dining table and ceiling fans make it easy to dine 'al fresco' while enjoying the view...or you may just want to curl up in the porch swing and read a book or take a nap. The main level contains a vaulted great room that includes the living area with flat-screen TV and stereo and a well-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar, glass-top stove, side-by-side refrigerator and pantry. There are 2 bedrooms: each has a queen bed, ceiling fan and flat-screen TV. The master bedroom has its own private bath with shower and a great view of the Gulf. The second bedroom is adjacent to a full bath that is equipped with a tub/shower combination.

Area Features:

As you stroll along the quiet beach, you can find a variety of seashells to collect or just enjoy watching the dolphins swimming by or eagles and osprey scouting for prey. Of course, swimming, sunbathing or fishing in the surf are always a favorite, too.

Our neighborhood is extremely quiet and friendly, with no thru traffic - a great place for families with children, or for anyone who just wants to get away from it all!

You may want to rent bikes or a golf cart and cruise quietly through the streets or on the beach. Horseback riding on the beach can also be conveniently arranged.

Money Bayou is just a short walk down the beach where you can catch blue crabs, throw your cast net or put in your kayak to explore the winding waterway. Scalloping in nearby St. Joe Bay is also a lot of fun during the summer scallop season. These sweet, tender delicacies can be enjoyed on your vacation or frozen for later when you return home.

In addition, the famous Indian Pass Raw Bar is just a mile up the road where you can enjoy the area's delicious oysters, other seafood and a cold drink. Weekends at the Raw Bar often feature outdoor live entertainment and dancing.

Our area is reminiscent of 'Old Florida.' There are no tall condos or hotels anywhere near by! Our beaches are very quiet and pristine and, in the off-season, you will rarely encounter anyone as you stroll quietly along the beach!

Our home is located on the mainland, just 1.5 miles east from Cape San Blas - which has been rated in the top five of the best beaches in the United States. Port St. Joe is only 10 miles to the west where you can stock up on all of the provisions you'll need. If you're not in the mood to cook, there are a number of great, local restaurants and night spots nearby. A golf course is only a few miles away and there are 4 separate boat ramps within 15 miles.

Just 20 minutes to the east is the historic and quaint fishing town of Apalachicola. Here you will find some great shopping as well as many wonderful restaurants and night spots. In addition, you can walk along the boardwalk and see what catch the fishing boats have brought in for the day.

We invite you to relax at 'Sweetwater Cottage' and enjoy 'Old Florida.'

About Leslie Frye Allen

We live in Tallahassee and love this area of the Gulf Coast. I have been coming down here since I was a child and have since introduced my husband and our two girls to this wonderful taste of 'Old Florida.'

Bright & Beautiful Beach bungalow

  • 5 of 5

We could not have asked for more! This bungalow was the perfect retreat for my husband and I, and our dogs. The sunlight filled the bungalow during the day and we enjoyed sitting in the swing, or eating at the table on the screened porch. The dogs LOVED finding sun spots on the porch and enjoying the view!

The beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need.

Leslie is an incredible hostess - I recommend reaching out to her prior to booking and you will know exactly what I mean. Even though a binder and brochures are provided at the cottage, Leslie enjoys speaking with guests, in person, to share her knowledge of the area.

I highly recommend this beautiful bungalow. And it is just a few steps from the beach!

You will not be disappointed if you book this accommodation.

The cottage was everything promised. The location was wonderful and all the amenities are provided. The weather was wonderful and the beach was so uncrowded. A memory that will last forever.

Great location, clean and comfortable for a family of four + little dog.

I can't say enough good things about Cape San Blas, Leslie's house and the service she provided.

Hurricane Hermine hit the day we were set to drive in from Atlanta. Leslie stayed in constant contact with me as we tried to decide what to do on the eve and morning of the storm. Ultimately, she made our decision an easy one by advising us not to risk it and refunding our money for the first night.

We drove in a day late, but had a wonderful, wonderful trip! We spent most of our time at the State Park on Cape San Blas fishing and catching blue crabs. Heaven.

We rented a pontoon boat one day and drove to the end of the Cape. Being born and raised in Destin, I couldn't believe how secluded it was. Definitely a different Florida vibe.

I'd recommend Leslie's place to anyone looking for a peaceful vacation.

Loved the View, Loved the House, Loved the Fantastic Customer Service and Loved the Multiple Extra's received during our stay. This was my 4th visit to the area and this stay was by FAR the BEST! You will love the screened in porch and the view it provides, the comfortable layout of the house, and of course the BEACH is Awesome! We toured near by towns for shopping and dining.

Great Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay at "Sweetwater Cottage," and we have yet to be disappointed. The cottage is functional, close to the beach, and a convenient location to both Port St. Joe and Apalachicola's many amenities. The responsiveness and friendliness of the owners is outstanding (thank you, Leslie!). The adjectives I would offer include well-maintained, clean, and efficient. I would and have recommended Sweetwater to friends and family. We do plan on going back again later this summer as the kayaking is terrific. This is a great place to begin your vacation.

Ps. During your stay we highly recommend a visit to "Killer Seafood" in Mexico Beach. The only downer is that they are closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

I loved this house - it was just perfect for us! Everything was just as stated on site-

all was very clean and well-maintained.

I loved the colors of the walls - the art on the walls - the screen porch was just beyond fabulous! The wash basin for "foot washing" - the stepping stones all in the right places- the supplies available if you forgot your own -from poop bags to scotch tape - everything you need! The pretty way the towels were displayed was a very nice extra.

Leslie was wonderful and such a pleasure to work with - she called to check on us when we got in.

We had a bonfire on the beach - brought many memories of home - Key Biscayne Fl - many many years ago.

The beach was big and beautiful - you might see two or three people during your walks

A perfect house - a perfect owner -a perfect beach! We will be back and renting from Leslie💗 Thank you so much for making this available for us!
