My husband, daughter and I are Americans (Chicagoans) living and working in Montreal, Canada. When we realized that the beautiful Adirondack Mountains were an easy 2 hour drive from Montreal, we bought our rustic cabin in the woods in 2005 and have enjoyed countless weekends of skiing, biking, hiking and pure enjoyment. We bought the Scenic Point Chalet in 2010 so that we can share the region with others. We have enjoyed meeting many like minded, interesting and active people because of the chalet which has been a fun return.
Stacy Spletzer purchased this chalet in 2010
The Scenic Point Chalet is a rustic retreat. We fell in love with its multiple levels and two living areas which allow two families to have privacy or even better, for the adults to enjoy the upstairs living area and the kids downstairs. There is also something warm and inviting about its ambiance ... especially when the fire is roaring. We are quite proud of the chalet and the reviews we have rec'd since 2010.
The chalet backs up to Clark Mountain which provides hours of adventure for those that want to take it. Miles and miles of x-country ski trails are within walking distance from the chalet's front door. Lake Eaton is also an easy stroll for a picnic, playground, tennis game or canoe ride. Also, one of the best benefits is that it is 'quiet' ... great if you just want to get away from the city noise and get back to nature.
A gorgeous place in the Adirondacks. The chalet was very clean and the area was amazingly quiet. My two daughters, two grandchildren and I spent a great weekend here while visiting "The North Pole".
Great layout for many combinations of people. Fully stocked kitchen! Bundt cake anyone? Really appreciated staples in the cabinets like cooking oil, spices, cling wrap. Some places we have stayed we were lucky to have paper towels! So what a relief we didn't have to majorly stock up on basics, especially since we flew in to NY. Thank you, thank you!
Stacy was great, keeping in touch with us from booking to arrival. Would definitely recommend.
What a fantastic spot. The Chalet was secluded, charming, spacious and clean. Could not have asked for more. It was perfect for two families and the proximity to Lake Placid (an easy and scenic drive) was just right. Thanks to the hosts for creating such a great setting in the woods! We are already planning our next visit.
The Chalet was exactly what we were looking for. As soon as we opened the front door we were greeted with a fresh scent of a glade plug in and a table lamp that gave the perfect warm glow that reminded me of my own home. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were clean. Having a bedroom on each floor gives you enough privacy if you are sharing The Chalet with friends or family. You don't need to bring much as there is just about anything you can think of readily available. The children loved it and they are just as excited about returning as the adults are.
I went with my husband and a group of friends, it fit us all perfectly! The three levels made it so you had your own personal area if wanted. Would be great for families with kids we thought. Very close to the ski hill (which is where the guys went a day) and close to downtown lake placid where we spent the day walking around the shops. We never heard any neighbors, and our dogs had a blast sniffing around without worrying about cars or people that aren't comfortable with dogs. I would highly recommend the chalet, everything we could think of was included as far as amenities also! Stacy, the owner, was so thoughtful and got back to us quickly. Considering it was a little last minute, everything worked out perfectly! Definitely going back next time we want a cabin get away.
Beautiful home. Very clean and has everything you need for a relaxing day after the slopes. (15 min easy drive) We brought our groceries and it felt like we were at a friends house for 5 days. We needed nothing.
Nice tv and a lot of DVDs but limited tv channels.
Great stereo system but needs Aux jack or newer iPhone/MP3.
Miles of x-country ski trails and the Ausable river are within walking distance from the chalet. Downhill skiers only have to drive 15 minutes to Whiteface Mountain. Shopping, spas, golf and other activities abound in the Olympic city of Lake Placid which is a scenic 14 mile drive, guaranteeing there is sure to be something for everyone
