- Bright, beautiful living-dining room open up to two-story height, with windows all around the two tall walls. The bright, open feel makes this a relaxing, uplifting space.
- Vaulted ceilings in two upper level bedrooms, with views over the neighborhood houses to palm trees and hills
- Pool, baby pool and hut tub: a private community pool area is almost across the street. Usually the pool has few or no people. There is a small park and playground outside the pool area. An especially pleasant and relaxing setting, the area looks out mostly to trees and hills
- Beautiful tile, with stone slab island in kitchen
NOTE: California king in master and queen sofa bed in living room are extremely comfortable - firm with a soft touch. Great elliptical machine in front of TV with DVD, DVR and cable TV.
I am an education consultant, originally from North Carolina but in LA for 25 years. I speak Spanish, French and some Portuguese. We love our home but also love getting to new places!
I'm happy to help you figure out if this is a good fit. If you tell us what you're looking for, I can advise as to great things in the area.
Susanne, owner purchased this house in 2010
We are renting our home so that we can travel in the summer. We enjoy traveling and languages and want to pass on both to our children. This will allow us to visit friends and family. We would love to learn more about you, too.
We love our home - it's a very pleasant place to be. It gets warm to hot by late summer, but we only use air conditioning for maybe the 3-6 hottest weeks. Then we open the windows at night and let the mellow evening breezes blow in. In LA, the air does not usually smell fresh, but here it's fragrant with plants, and there are hills, trees and flowers everywhere. Yet we enjoy all the area has to offer constantly, with tons to do from LA to Santa Barbara in easy day trips.
We are happy to answer questions. Also note that if you have young children, we will gladly make toys available.
- close to nature
- pools steps away
- tons for kids and adults to do
- close to everything from LA to Santa Barbara
Oak Park stands out for the beautiful hills and excellent weather, close to LA and Santa Barbara. This is a great spot to spend a relaxed California summer, with warm sunny days at the pool. For adults, there are restaurants, summer music events, high-end shopping areas, and the Camarillo outlets that draw visitors especially from Japan, France and all over. There's plenty to do with kids, including Bright Child (a great kids' play place) and a splash pad less than 3 minutes away, bowling, ice skating, & three hands-on farms/wild animal station within 15 minutes (pick strawberries, interact with animals).
This location is a great balance of peace, fresh air, sunny weather (the coast is cloudy surprisingly often - we are just over the hill where the clouds don't often reach). Within 2-15 minutes of the house, there are literally dozens of affordable camps - morning, afternoon or all day - and classes in sports, arts, science, acting, music, and so on.
There are unlimited things to do with kids of all ages. Within 10-25 minutes: horseback riding, hiking, Zuma and other beaches, Malibu/PCH, Underwood Family Farms, Filmore and Western railway, America's Teaching Zoo, pony and boat rides at the Ventura marina, dozens of verdant, well-equipped beautiful parks surrounded by trees and hills, wineries, and much more.
25-40 minutes away, check out the Getty - a must-see stunning location that's free, with concerts in the summer, Noah's Ark at the Skirball, Universal Studios, Magic Mountain, Santa Monica (pier games, 3rd Street Promenade, Main Street), Venice Beach, Carrillo Beach and Neptune's Net, local festivals all summer and the hundreds of things to do in LA.
Summerland, Montecito and Santa Barbara are worth multiple day trips. 45 minutes away, Summerland Beach is my favorite because it's always so uncrowded even in the height of summer but so beautiful, with striking scenery, surrounded by palisades.
Disneyland and the Long Beach Aquarium are under an hour away. All times are given without traffic, which is lighter in summer but still a factor at rush hour.
