September Wedding

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful Home! My husband and I chose to rent this home for our wedding weekend. We were looking for something cozy and warm so we could host our immediate family and our wedding party. The rooms are large and spacious allowing us to comfortably accommodate a party of 16. The house is so large, it didn’t feel like we were piled on top of each other. We arrived on Thursday and this gave us the full day on Friday to setup, decorate and play, before the craziness of the wedding started on Saturday.

Jim allowed us to come out several months before the event to walk around and gave us some tips on how others had done their events in the past. He was very responsive to any questions that came up before the wedding.

We had about 80 guests at the wedding. The kitchen has two large ovens and a warmer. In the pantry is plenty of storage, a full size refrigerator and a full size freezer. We had room to prepare dinner for all of our guests. We did rent some additional warmers and brought 2 additional bbqs, because our menu included prime rib and salmon.

On the 10 acres, there are several locations to have a ceremony as well as the reception. We chose one of the ponds as our ceremony location. It was perfect! The reception was in the back. I put guest table and chairs in the gravel which allowed our guests to socialize on the patio. We set up lawn games, cornhole, ladder golf and badminton for those who are not so into dancing…. Basically, what I’m getting at is there is plenty of room for activities!

For events like a wedding, Jim hires a parking attendant (you pay, but he hires them), which definitely worked for us! They directed traffic and parking. Also, because we chose to have the event in the front of the house, the parking attendant stopped cars from coming in once the ceremony started. They would have to park and walk in so as not to distract the guests, photographer and of course the wedding party! Also, a family member will be on site to monitor the event. Jim’s daughter, Noelle, was there the day of our event and she was very sweet! It is to ensure their home is being respected and have an extra set of eyes on things. Make sure your guests know not to wear their shoes inside the home, or they will hear about it! We tried to keep our guests outside as much as possible with the exception of using the restroom.

We loved it! We have already discussed the possibility of using it again for a family reunion! Will share some pictures soon.

Beautiful home and property. Well organized.

  • 5 of 5

Seeing the dear each day was very cool. The owners try to make your stay very comfortable and easy with clear instructions, kitchen map, airbeds, plenty of drawer and cabinet space for your things. The on property playset was great.

Note: hot tub is not allowed for use. Lots of space to have people in close space doing different things: play games, eat, watch movies, cook without being in each other's way.

Our only complaint was the significant surcharge for additional people including children.

Great host, beautiful location and estate!

  • 5 of 5

Was thoroughly impressed with how organized and clean everything was when we arrived. The host, Jim, was extremely thorough with all the rules, check-out procedures, and had everything available for our party when we arrived, with the exception of our blow up mattresses being made, but since we were a large group and a company at that, it was not expected however, it would have been nice to come to a place where the beds were made for all. That is really the only thing we would have possibly given as feedback and since we were a company group, too, we did recommend having smaller beds for groups like ours for future accommodations but other than that, everything was absolutely perfect. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to get away but still stay within a close reach of the inner city limits of Port Angeles. Thank you for such a warm welcome and always willing to accomodate our any need by being readily available.

Beautiful spacious rental with plenty of privacy and space for the family

  • 5 of 5

I wish I could use better words to describe this rental other than ‘amazing’ and ‘perfect’ but I honestly cannot. Our stay at Jim’s home in Port Angeles was beyond what we expected. It was perfect for our family reunion and has inspired us to continue the tradition in years to come. The home with its spacious floor plan, comfortable bedrooms, and personable property owners helped make our trip better than we could have ever imagined.

Our group which consisted of 5 couples ranging from newlyweds to retirees and a couple kids. We all found a place in the home. The kids enjoyed the upstairs game and TV room while the older folks relaxed, undisturbed, on the plush sofas in the downstairs living room. The large kitchen was a perfect place to gather and share some laughs and a little dancing thanks to the house-wide stereo system. The kitchen came well-stocked with tools and dishes, we even made dinner in the crock pot.

Compared to other VRBOs we have stayed at the bedrooms were outstanding. The bedding and beds were comfortable, clean, and no one had to suffer on a crappy air mattress (as even the air mattresses were top notch!). Three of the bedrooms had in-suite, private baths while three of the rooms shared a giant three-sink bathroom with a beautiful claw-foot tub. The rooms were clean and quiet even when things were loud elsewhere in the house. Each room felt like a private retreat.

Jim was a gracious host and even bailed us out early one Saturday morning when we were without coffee and stranded under 8 inches of fresh snow! He really cared about our comfort and even provided a sled for the kids! Overall the house feels like a private hotel on a beautiful private lot. I would recommend this location to any family or group who needs a retreat that includes plenty of elbow room but also a central place to gather. We love this home and hope it bring other families as much joy as it did us.

Work Trip

  • 5 of 5

I recently had a work trip in Port Angeles with myself and 3 other coworkers. Port Angles seemed to lack hotel accommodations that could accommodate myself and my crew for 10 nights and that is when i searched VRBO and came across this property.

The residence meet and exceeded our expectations from the minute we walked into the door. It was large enough for each guy to have his own personal space but had areas where we could talk and enjoy a meal together. The house had every cooking utensil that you could need with plenty of storage so everyone could store their own food and drink for our duration.

Jim was more then accommodating/personable and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay and even checked in a couple times through text and/or phone calls to make sure everything was running smoothly.

The two very minor issues that we encountered during our stay was:

1) The thermostat was is lock and was set to when the house is not occupied. The house was 62 degrees the first morning when we woke up. However, Tonya (Jim's point of contact because he was out of town) was there that day to set the thermostat to the appropriate settings.

2) The other minor issue we encountered was, the cleaning service locked the door where we had a code to enter. Fortunately, Tonya arrived shortly and let us in through the garage and we were able to unlock the coded door and set our own pin for the remainder of our stay.

Other then those to extremely minor issues, the crew and myself enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property.
