Wonderful location - lots of space, lots of relaxation!
Our stay was a stellar experience. We had multiple families with multiple kids each, and everyone had plenty of space - both for people to get their quiet time and for groups gathering together .
There are porches galore, a deck by the Toccoa, a professional kitchen (inside) and grill (outside), and a fire pit big enough for a dozen people to roast marshmellows without crowding. The hosts - Neil and Neil Sr - are wonderful. They were more than happy to talk with those of us who wanted to know more about the area (and their horses, goats and chickens) but also gave the group plenty of time and space to just enjoy ourselves.
There are HD LCD's all throughout the bedrooms and common rooms, and a blu-ray/dvd player hooked up to the projector in the theater room. The hot tub is also spacious and enjoyable, located next to the theater room. The parents could relax in the jacuzzi while kids watched movies just inside.
Can't wait for our next visit - a truly wonderful vacation!
How nice to have such wonderful people stay at our home and treat it as if it were their own. We are so glad everyone had a wonderful experience and look forward to having you back soon. You're more than welcome. Hope the log turns out as a nice bowl. Please send photos of it once it's done.
Amazing home right on the river!!!
Loved the views of the river from the sun room, large deck overlooking the lovely river, and the small deck right at the river’s edge. Windows everywhere! Loved the theater room! And the horses, goats, and roosters were a true bonus, as well as the 2 sweet, friendly dogs that came around to say, “hi”. A truly unique place...and still only a 10 minute drive to the shops and restaurants of Blue Ridge!!!
Great house. Great view of the river.
Great time. Fun with a large group.
Great family who took great care of the house. So glad you all enjoyed yourselfs. Please visit again your all welcome back.
Read all reviews to see if this place is for you
We’ve never had any problems with VRBO rentals before, but we would not stay at Bucks again.
First, the positive things: Location on the river is great. It’s close enough to Blue Ridge, but far enough away too. Some reviewers complain it’s like a development, and you do see a couple trailers and other homes, but I would not say it has the feel of a development
I think reviews go from 1 to 5 stars based on the time of year people stay here and whether or not you use things in the home. If you need significant heat or AC, problems start. One would think you could set the temperature to a comfortable level, but guests have no access to controls and must ask for any temperature changes with no guarantee changes will be honored. The owner monitors temperatures on his many trips through the house.
The week we stayed there, 1 of the 2 house AC units was out all week so most of the house was very warm and unusable. No ceiling fans in the media room meant we couldn’t use that and many bedrooms were super warm. The owner knew before we arrived that the AC was broken, but never communicated that to us. Just like another reviewer stated, the owner also told us: “If he’d know (insert problem here) was an issue when you arrived, I would have given you your money back”. Empty words at the end of the trip. We paid to rent a large house but our group of 12 only had a couple useable rooms. The owner never offered or agreed to any compensation for that.
The house has many maintenance issues that need to be addressed. AC repair people spent a lot of time with circuit breakers and at one point, the microwave no longer had power going to it so we couldn’t use that anymore, either. We were blamed for breaking it! We got our security deposit back so the owner must have realized problems were with the house and not us.
Overall, the house was clean, but again, maintenance was needed. Deck lounge chairs were unusable because they had so much moss and algae growing on them. The front entrance has swarming wasps and we had 3 stings in the first 2 hours there. The owner supposedly sprays, but clearly not enough. Unopened bags of mulch line the front, but they’ve been there awhile. Just a lot of things suggest that no money is spent to keep the house up.
To sum up: beware and read all the reviews to make sure this place is for you.
Thank you for your review full of lies and deceit. I see you failed to mention that I was going to have you removed from the property by the police because of your guests drunken, belligerent behaviour towards me when I was trying to help you after you had broken the microwave by placing a metal object in it, this was confirmed by the repair man. You begged me not to have you removed and being the person that I am, I didn’t. I even worked with you on your payment schedule so it would help you with your budget. The reason your security deposit was returned is knowing the caliber of people you are and how you mistreated the home, I was happy to see the back of you. “OWNERS BEWARE” I encourage all future guests to read the reviews before and after your stay, enough said. Case closed ...
Great time here. House is beautiful. We loved feeding the horses and goats. Had a blast! Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for the kind words, I’m sure the animals enjoyed you feeding them as much as you enjoyed feeding them. 🐴🐴🐐🐐🐔🐔 your all welcome back anytime.
House was awesome. Size fit our families. I felt some updates were needed as far as bedding & towel.
Lovley sitting on the river. Was surprised how unkept the grounds were around the house. After paying $60 for firewood we were only able to use our pit one time because plastic ceiling tiles were being burnt in our pit. A bit upsetting. Wasp seemed to be a problem under the front porch resulting in 2 people being stung.ine if them being our 3 yr old grandson. We did appreciate someone coming quickly to reset our hot water.
I’m glad the house was able to accommodate your large family. We had some ceiling/hardboard tiles in the fire pit that were put there for burning they were not plastic I can assure you, but with all the rain we had the week of your stay just like the bags of mulch that were put through out the grounds the maintenance man was not able to finish the work. We do live in the country and keeping up with nature is sometimes difficult to do, even though we spray for yellow jackets and wasps regular.
Located on the toccoa river which is one of the best trout fishing rivers in the southeast.
