While celebrating a milestone birthday in Hyannis in 2016 with dear friends, we experienced the towns and beaches of the Cape and we were enchanted. The following year, on a family vacation that was everything but relaxing, we looked at each other and said, let's go to back Cape. After owning a vacation home for 20 years in New England, and happily having sold it in 2014, we thought, should we do it again? Could we find a property that could at least meet the experience we had? We didn't think it was possible.
Ellen purchased this House in 2017
Why Ellen chose West Hyannisport
In August 2017, we decided to explore the towns on Cape Cod. This time the beaches, restaurants, the community of local artists and activities amazed us with so much to do and see. With more than 20 years experience as vacation rental home owners, we knew what we wanted in a new house. And we knew what we wanted to be different this time around. An open floor plan to welcome family and friends without feeling cramped. A kitchen large enough for our whole family at the holidays, high ceilings and spacious living areas. And proximity to the beach. We had grown weary of crowded beaches, and no parking or bathroom facilities. With our new home, located in Seaside Park, known as "The Avenues" with a private association beach, kayak storage and an location accessible to everything yet located out side of the heavy summer traffic, we found it. Working with our decorator, our home is receiving all new paint, furnishings, flatware, linens, bathrooms, appliances - if you can name it, we are doing it. The mechanical systems needed to be updated so we did. A new boiler, new tankless on demand hot water system, and central air conditioning. As long as we were at it, we ran a new gas line to install a gas cook top (I can cook two ways with electric - done and undone) and a gas line for the gas grill on the deck. No more refilling of propane tanks. Located in a quiet neighborhood, this home is easily accessible to everything to do and see on the Cape. Main Street in Hyannis with its 120 shops and restaurants (many of them Zagat rated) is 2.0 miles from our house. If the private beach at the end of our street isn't enough then the 1.0 miles from our drive to Craigville beach is a breeze to get to. Our house is located in an area of Hyannisport that avoids congestion and traffic. Located near all the activities you may want in a vacation, but in a quiet safe neighborhood. This is where we get away and get to the Cape!
What makes this House unique
The open floor plan, the square footage make this house unusual for the area. With an abundance of natural light including the skylights, the hardwood floors, the generously sized bathrooms, the private yard, the separate living areas for three generations of family in the house at once, this house has it all. When we walked in and saw the high ceilings and open floor plan, we knew this home presented an unique opportunity for our family to come back to New England. To relax. To enjoy spending time together as a family. We sat on the front porch and watched the families strolling to the beach with their wagons. We enjoyed the privacy of the back deck and the fully fenced yard. Every day, every season, this house make it feels like we were always meant to be here.

A truly wonderful, super comfortable and well equipped Cape Cod beauty !!!
From the minute we pulled up in front of the house, we knew it was one for us.
Loved the 4 new bikes and the kayaks (+ life jackets) at the nearby beach
The home itself was full of classy furniture, quality beds and the rooms were all a good size.
Bonus was having the 2 lounge areas, but we found everything to be first class and would love to go there again !!

Great get away
Home is well stocked (bedding, linens, etc). Bright very clean home. Great location, very close to downtown Hyannis. Private beach and use of kayaks was also awesome. Beach pass to local beach also very nice. My family really enjoyed their stay. We were there last week of June so weather is temperamental. Overall a really nice stay.
Great value! Responsive owner.
Newly renovated, well maintained. The owner was very responsive and easy to work with. Good value. We thoroughly enjoyed it!!
Immaculate Cape Cod
This is a perfect vacation home! We loved it! The owners have completely and thoughtfully redone this entire house from top to bottom. The inside is adorable with shiplap wall and fireplace in living room, white cabinets and subway tile in kitchen, large farm table in dining area, large comfortable living room and a wonderful tv/family room. The home is in a perfect location to visit all of the sites from one end of the Cape to the other and beautiful Craigsville Beach is only minutes away! We loved sitting out side in the rocking chairs on the front porch every evening enjoying the sunset! We would definitely stay here again!
Tranquil, sophisticated Cape-escape in the perfect location!
Right from the start Ellen was easy to communicate with and very thoughtful. The description of the home is accurate. The only thing it didn't include is the peace of mind and relaxation you are allowed to enjoy. Ellen has anticipated your every need and equipped the house accordingly. Not to mention, it is beautifully decorated. We easily rode our bikes to the beach. My family enjoyed the outdoor shower, comfortable deck space, safe fenced in yard and the quiet neighborhood. The kids loved the voice activated remote for the television too!
If you are considering a trip to the Cape I trust you would be extremely happy staying at this property.
Thank you for your kind words. It is our goal that you will feel as though this is your home away from home when you stay with us. After renting our previous home for 20 years on Martha's Vineyard, we tried to take all of the lessons we learned that would make for a great vacation and put them to work in this very special place on the Cape. I am hopeful from your review, that we've done just that! Safe travels to you and your family wherever you may go. If you're thinking about heading back to the Cape, we hope to see you again soon! Ellen
West Hyannis Home
The place was all we wanted it to be - great for four adults (which we were) and would also be be great with 2 - 4 children. Lots of room, large kitchen with lots of dishes and easy-to-load dishwasher, and comfortable living, viewing and bed rooms. Those of us who took things from the refrigerator appreciated the beep that told us we'd not gotten the door closed. Nice yard for outdoor activities and close to a great beach. We would return there if another situation calls for it.
Thank you Joe and Marjorie! We enjoyed having you stay with us. Safe travels on your journey home. We hope to have you visit with us again soon! Ellen
