large home to accommodate family reunions, youth groups, large families, etc. hot tub w/stereo system 20x52 heated in ground pool on side of mountain, bbq area, ample parking top and bottom floors, 1st & 2nd floor covered deck length of house on rear over looking pool, attached to pool 1750 sq ft deck for large gatherings, 1 st floor handicapped accessible.. newly renovated to 7 bedroom with a triple bunk bed in game room
This house is expansive and has great potential, it's a shame that it's managed and maintained very poorly. We rented this property to accommodate ourselves and guests for my daughters wedding; which we all traveled from parts of Alaska, Michigan, and California. I will make mention, we are not picky people and don't personally have a houseful of high end furnishings, just the basic everyday stuff.
Most of the bedrooms have NO closets to hang up your clothes, very rickety bunk beds ...most of the bathroom fixtures and household furnishings are very worn out and/or broken. Kitchen throuout required cleaning and organizing to be functional. The stove didn't work properly creating a serious hazard(Phil was informed with no response) Game room?..be prepared to play pool on a table with worn out felt and buy your own tips for the sticks:/, these are just a few of the things that stood out...All these things are easy fixes but show a lack of maintenance and/or care about renters experience .
This is evidenced by our experience...
I was encouraged to pay the balance of my rent by check to avoid additional home away fees..this was a misleading lie ..those are collected with the initial deposit. Phil emailed the wrong door code then decided to put his phone on airplane mode for 2.5 hrs during check-in time meanwhile our guests stood around with no access after traveling across the country. Really? Who does that? During our stay the first night we adults used the hot tub, in the morning it didn't work, repair guy came late next day..partial repair...sort of worked . Used the last night, filled, covered checked out. Phil is creative at finding an excuse to keep a security deposit to do his limited maintance. He claims we burned out his motors by running the water to low ....such a bogus accusation when after repeated explanations as to his faulty Equiptment and that those that used it own there own hot tubs and know what there doing refused to return our security deposit. Necessitating the need to file a complaint with credit card company. This is a perfect example of a slum lord and after a deeper online inquiry found he has a history of this.
If you decide to stay I would highly recommend video taping upon arrival and exit so as to protect yourself from false accusations . We took a complete video ourselves ...
This property should not be on the Home Away site...this experience has definitely made me think twice about using the site again....
We had an awesome experience at the cabin, and we would definitely recommend for any large group!
This cabin is nestled in the GA mountains with a phenomenal view. Our group outing of 23 people thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Plenty of sleeping quarters and fun activities to do during our stay. If your looking for a large cabin, outstanding views and a lot of amenities, then this cabin is for you.
Property and view were great. Home was OK, but the heat on one side of home didn't work and there was a bathroom faucet that didn't work. Called the owner multiple times before he answered and agreed to send someone out. Repairman was a nice guy but only rigged the faucet so we could use it with a screwdriver. Heat still didn't work and another guy came back to replace a part after a night of freezing sleep.
3 weeks after the trip we called about the security deposit that wasn't refunded and there was no answer. He answered no calls, text, emails. Called him about 15 times in a row and he finally texts to say he reluctantly issued the refund. Owner tried to say that we left "scuff marks" on the wall. Ridiculous, to say the least, seeing as we sat on the garage sale furniture watching football most of the weekend.
Was thinking about taking my work team there for a retreat but will not be doing that. Would not recommend to others, unfortunately.
We rented this property for Christmas with a lot of other family members and it is so far the best we've experienced. The bedrooms were plenty and spacious. The only thing that would've been better was if there were more queen size beds rather than double beds.
We love grilling and I'm glad there was a grill and cylinder gas provided. The scenery from the backyard balcony was very relaxing .we got our full deposit back promptly. will definitely rent this place again.
We have a small church and the owner worked with us by offering a discount since we rented during the week. We enjoyed the home, but after departing the home we found the owner did not respond to emails or calls. Twice he got back to us a week later and said he was sorry and would get our full refund of the deposit. After 6 weeks of hounding the owner he refunded part of the deposit with no explanation and has since refused to answer our emails as to why he renigged on his deal.
This overshadowed the beauty of house and the surrounding areas. Sadly, I am a Pastor and the owner knew this and still decided to rip us off. Very unfortunate but unfortunately this is common in today's time.
If you don't care about your deposit I highly recommend the property.
PS. I have everything in writing and documented with an attorney at our fellowship. It is just not worth the money to pursue.
there are are plenty of things to do and see but you might just deceide to stay home and enjoy what the home and surroundings have to offer.
