Lake home that sleeps 15! Two Full bedrooms + one 'nook' with a bunk bed. One 1/2 bath and one full bath & laundry in the main cabin. New in July 2013, we added a detached 'guest cabin' that sleeps another 6 people!
Wake up and enjoy the beautiful sunrise over the lake from the Kitchen table or the deck with a cup of coffee in hand!
Fire pit with plenty of firewood stacked up for hours of campfire fun! Don't forget to bring smore's stuff! Swingset for the kiddos, and a nice big swing that overlooks the lake for the couples.
Swim raft with a fun twisty slide provides hours of fun for the kids (or adults!). Lounge on the lake, fish off the dock, or bring up your boat for some fun boating! You are able to swim right off the dock. Gas grill is also provided.
In the winter months, state trails for snowmobiling are located just a few miles from our cabin. They are easily accessible from the cabin, so no need to trailer sleds to the trails, simply ride across the lake and pick up the trail all the way to Duluth.
Mora is also the home for the cross country ski race Vasaloppet USA, every February.
Most of all, come ready to have fun, relax, and leave feeling refreshed!
Our cabin is family owned by two brothers and their wives. Together, we have 3 children. All boys ages 2, 6, and 9! We bought our cabin to make many family memories together. However, we are at the age where we are spending most of our summers away for weddings, birthdays, and sports and we don't want the cabin to just sit empty all year!
Ross Burau purchased this house in 2010
We choose this property because it is nestled back in the woods and provided the privacy and peacefulness we don't get back in our city homes. We love Mora for it's small town, but just a short 1 hour drive from the cities. Perfect distance away!
Most of our family and friends describe our cabin as peaceful and comfortable. We often talk about the feeling of pulling into our driveway, with the tree's and lake surrounding us, we almost immediately feel at peace. We hope you too feel comfortable and peaceful during your stay!
My family met at this cabin for a "mini-reunion". We were pleasantly surprised by the options for comfortable sleeping. The cabin isn't huge, but the group felt they all had private sleep space, which was nice. The living/ dining area was also spacious (more than I expected from the photos) which was great as our group could play cards and snack comfortably indoors waiting out some rain. The deck is large and a perfect view of the lake. The boat house is clean and roomy and the fire pit space is awesome. The cabin feels very private as it is tucked nicely in the woods. Due to the rain, the water levels were high and as a result the dock was under water. We didn't get to enjoy the dock space, however it looked as though normally it would be a great place to fish or take a dip. Luckily, we brought along a pontoon so we were able to enjoy the Great Lake! The owners are very accommodating, informative and responsive. Great weekend!
This cabin has everything you need when enjoying time on the lake. It was freezing for the fishing opener but their awesome fire pit kept us warm. Easy dock access for hooking up several boats. Plenty of sleeping space for 8 adults. Overall it was a great stay and will definitely be back.
we spent 5 nights here having a blast with family. The bunkhouse and water slide were prime attractions. also, hookups for 2 RVs!! Hope to spend time here again next summer😃
We are a family of 5 that stayed here for a week in late June and absolutely loved it! Our boys are 8 years old, 7 years old, and 6 months. They had a blast! We'd wake up and enjoy the beauty of the lake, eat breakfast on the deck, then head down to the private dock to do some fishing. The fishing was great. My boys loved reeling in panfish after panfish right off the dock.
Once they got tired of fishing, they would throw on their swim trunks and do some swimming. My boys are not super strong swimmers, but they are very adventurous. The bottom of the lake is not too rocky or covered in muck. I gets deeper VERY gradually, so they could walk out quite a ways without hem (or me) getting too uncomfortable. I could still relax and do some fishing while they splashed around!
There is a huge firepit area that we loved. We didn't use it as often as we would've liked to, but there was plenty of wood to burn if we wanted to.
The cabin is located off of a couple of gravel roads, so it is very quiet and private. Although you are in the wilderness, you're still not too far from the highway. We were able to take day trips to Minneapolis and Duluth during our vacation without killing our day on the road. We typically would have to head up to Mora to get anything we'd need, and that was only a couple of minutes away. There's a giant liquor store in Mora, so you should never run out. There's also a grocery store for anything that you may need. We also highly recommend having a meal or two at Freddie's. It was a nice, welcoming atmosphere and the food was great!
The owners were easy to deal with! We didn't have any real issues at the cabin, but they were quick to respond to a text if I had a question. They also returned our deposit extremely quickly. There is nothing more than I could've asked from our hosts! A+!
The pictures truly do not do this cabin justice. We were blown away by the dock, swimming area, deck, and fire pit. There were 5 of us, but I think the place could have easily accommodated another family or two and not been too crowded. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about the place, but I think that any one could have a great vacation at this place.
We've stayed at the cabin twice with groups of between 6 and 10 people. It's very comfortable and has everything you could need for enjoying the lake, grilling out, sitting around a fire, and otherwise just relaxing. The owners are friendly and quick with communication, and the cabin is turnkey ready for your visit. In the area, you'll find good grocery options and an excellent butcher, too.
Mora is a city in the central part of MN. It is located at the junction of Minnesota State Highways 23 and 65. Mora attracts many runners for the Mora Half Marathon in August and also many snowmobilers during the winter months.
