About The Owner

What happens when an arts entrepreneur and creator of 'ThinkBig!' gets together with an Emmy award winning film editor? She reads his personal ad (“FUN, 52, RECENT NYC transplant, sexy, successful, attractive arts entrepreneur, child like, sensitive, open, honest and well therapied...”), They meet, marry and move from Santa Monica, CA. to the West Village...until 9/11. Bob was 'ground zero.' It was time to leave. We fell in love with the Catskill region and ended up buying a home! We've been here full time since 2005.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2013

Why The Owner chose Catskills

Bob is obsessed with water. We are the owners of The Waterfall House, our first vacation rental home set on Niobe Falls. When the cottage down the road became available, we couldn't say no. After a full year of top to bottom renovation, A Stream Side Cottage, L.L.C., is brand new and ready for you!

What makes this cottage unique

Palenville is an unspoiled gem offering the magic of the Catskill Mountains with proximity to Woodstock, Saugerties, Hunter Mountain and the town of Hudson, a

destination for art and antique collectors.

Property was everything we imagined.

  • 4 of 5

The property and the house was simply amazing. The house was clean and very well-kept. The best part was the creek in the backyard. I would definitely recommend staying at this house. The welcome basket was such a warm touch, thank you! You will definitely be hearing from us again!

Beautifull property but not comfortable bedrooms

  • 3 of 5

The property was beautiful with trees and stream at the back and deck and hammock. The owners were super nice and welcoming. The issue we had was the sleeping situation. The beds were not comfortable and both the rooms had these old ACs that made a ton of noise. We couldn't sleep well and left the 3rd day (loosing our 3rd night money). For winters, the ACs may be a non issue. The kitchen was really nice and well equipped.

Owner's Response: We understand your concerns and will make every effort to address them. We have on order a high quality horizontal air conditioner which will be installed in the wall near our gas fireplace, and we will replace the dressing room area window box with a newer, quieter model. While we have had no complaints regarding our mattress, be assured we will add a temperpedic style mattress cover. The mattress itself is fairly new. Should you decide to visit again, we feel confident you will sleep well and be cool in the hot weather. We appreciate your comments and take all feedback seriously.

More than expected!!!

  • 5 of 5

What a peaceful and tranquil place! We were delighted by the accommodations as well as the view and small towns surrounding. The large back deck was home base as we were able to lounge comfortably and listen to the water flow by.. We were able to do a lovely farmer's market in Kingston and lunch on the Hudson in the Catskills. Will absolutely be back and highly recommend!

Absolute peace and quiet

  • 5 of 5

The pictures are accurate. The house is directly on the stream/river. There is no house to the left or right. There are other houses on the single lane road but the road dead ends just after the house. I found it to be VERY clean. The manager Margie is the friendliest overseer I have met. She knows all about the house and the area. She suggested trails for my dogs that were not part of the trail books. This was most helpful since I have an older dog who likes to ride in a jogger. This is the first stop in a month long vacation and I fear I will regret leaving for the other adventures along the way. I've rarely found a place so easy to love and so hard to leave after only a few days.

Great Spot

  • 5 of 5

A sweet spot just steps from the creek. We went up for a long weekend with our 3 children, who had a great time exploring the path to the waterfall, the stream, rocks, and the hammock. The house itself has a nice, open layout and is very well kept. Bob and Babs went out of their way to make it welcoming, and the house is full of books on the area. The kids also loved the 'Big' things like the giant fork and pencil! Thank you!
