The Gatherings on Union Bay
Enjoy the serenity of a quiet community of year-round homes nestled on the shores of Union Bay. Do and see everything that Down East Maine has to offer, or, do nothing and enjoy the refreshing breeze from Union Bay as you rejuvenate on the shores of a private access beach. Please provide your own beach towels. Our towels are not to be used on the beach. Thanks
Lawn games are provided to enjoy the large front lawn, along with the Adirondack chairs
Our getaway home features two bedrooms (one king master and one pair of twins as well as a full size sleep sofa) and one full bath for a quick shower or a deep soak after the day’s adventures are done. The open concept dining, kitchen and living room allow for easy flow through the house. Washer, dryer, dishwasher and all kitchen appliances you might need. Gas grill on the outside deck.
Enjoy the view while dining or relaxing in the living room. We have a flat screen tv with cable plus high speed internet to keep you connected when you want.
Surry has much to offer, including its proximity to historic downtown Ellsworth (5 minutes) with its antiques, boutiques and local restaurants. A large variety of shopping (including the L.L. Bean Outlet, Reny’s, Marden’s and Cadillac Mountain Sports) and dining choices (Helen’s, Primavera, Sylvia’s Café, etc.) are also available along Route 1A in Ellsworth.
Use The Gatherings as your launch point to both parts of Acadia National Park (the busiest and best known part located on Mount Desert Island and what many call the hidden jewel in Winter Harbor). Each is just 35 minutes away.
Travel east from Surry and explore scenic Castine and Penobscot or head south to the village of Blue Hill and its fine dining.
Enjoy the many hiking and walking trails available in both Surry and surrounding towns.
Many museums and galleries are located minutes away in Ellsworth (The Courthouse Gallery, The Telephone Museum, The Woodlawn Estate Museum, movies and live theatre at The Grand, The Cole Museum of Land Transportation in Brewer).
Visit the Lumberjack show in Trenton (check seasonal hours of operation) and then head off for miniature golf, water slides and go karts at Wild Acadia Fun Park!
Or, stay home and launch your kayak or canoe from a private access beach on Union Bay (make sure to follow water safety rules). Enjoy the day sitting on a private access beach of smooth stone and sand with clear water and views over to MDI and Acadia Park. Beach is 150 yards from your front door. Please provide your own beach towels.
