The Villages is a gated community located within the prestigious Mauna Lani Resort famous for the Francis H. I’I Brown, 36 hole golf complex. It was the former home of the MasterCard, Senior Skins championship. World class golf, tennis, pristine beaches and private spa are just a few of the many resort amenities. The Villages also includes it’s own exercise facility and private pool and heated spa.

This 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath, 2172 square foot, (plus 400 square feet of outdoor lanai) 2 story Villa home offers luxury resort living at an incredible value. Three separate lanais provide many tranquil spaces for outdoor enjoyment. This Villa has been furnished with Bernhardt and Tommy Bahama furnishings with luxurious Eastern Accents bedding. These are not your typical rental appointments!

Interior spaces include flat screen TV's in the living room and master suite and wireless, high speed Internet service. All spaces include solid mahogany doors and trim with bronze hardware. The gourmet kitchen is finished with granite countertops, Wolf, Sub Zero, and Fisher and Paykel appliances. Large bedroom suites make bringing adult guests or sharing this home easy!

The three bathroom suites include travertine marble, cherry cabinets and Kohler fixtures. The interior features 3 zones of central air conditioning for your comfort. The large outdoor lanai provides a complete outdoor kitchen featuring a Lazyman BBQ. The master suite on the second floor offers a King bed with two double beds in the other second floor suite and a queen bed in the first floor suite. The laundry room is complete with full sized Fisher and Paykel washer and dryer.

After 40 vacations to the Hawaiian Islands including stays at resorts and condos on Maui, Kauai, Oahu, and a dozen or more visits to the Big Island, Louise and Harvey chose the Mauna Lani as the perfect location for a vacation home. Our first visit to the Kona shore was in 1980 when there was only lava fields and two hotels. We fell in love with the beautiful landscape, the beaches, and the range of activities. There are dozens of golf courses, restaurants, shopping, and always somethings to do. As vacationers who make the journey from the East Coast every year, our kids, our parents and family members, and our friends have had memorable vacations at the Mauna Lani Resort. We look forward to sharing the Aloha experience with our guests at our home at the Villages.

Wonderful stay on the Big Island

We stayed at the house for 8 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The house is centrally located at the Mauna Lani resort area. Easy access to the Mauna Lani private beach and the various resort restaurants. The home is modern and VERY well equipped. We are a family of six and had plenty of room. The air conditioning worked great, which was needed in August. The outside patio looks out to a large lawn area. We definitely recommend this place to anyone staying on the Kohala coast.

Fantastic place to stay

We stayed for a week and loved every minute. The home is clean and very well equipped with everything you could need (coolers, snorkels, beach chairs, kitchen utensils, cooking spices, etc.). Check in/out was super easy and both the owner and manager were incredibly responsive. The location is also pretty great - very close to the grocery store and the beach. The beach club was perfect for kids of all ages - water was like glass every day - and we had lunch at Napua most days. Can't recommend this home enough! We'll definitely be back.

Great retreat, great location, all the right toys.

Six of us stayed here with plenty of space. We were never in each other's way, especially in the kitchen. It was roomy and could handle everyone working together to prepare fantastic meals.. Eating outside at the "other dining table" was a treat, whether it was breakfast (a papaya grand slam with delicious homemade banana, coconut pancakes) or dinner (grilled fresh ahi). Everything you need is in the condo from utensils to a smart TV. There is even a blue tooth speaker for your own music. Hapuna Beach--I love that beach--is just a stone's throw down the road, about 10-15 minutes from the highway intersection. And all the right toys are in the garage, boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrella, and more. Don't forget the rest of the island. Volcanoes NP (We actually saw spewing lava, i.e., splat,.) and snorkeling at the Place of Refuge cove were a hit. At the end of the day, the condo was a relaxing abode to "come home to." Our family will remember this Christmas for a long time.

Convenient location & well-stocked, just a few issues..

First of all, I would like to say that it has been a pleasure working with this owner. He is quick to respond to questions and is very nice.

I traveled with my husband, in-laws and an almost 2-year old daughter. We were pleased that the condo was close to our favorite private beach, and within walking distance to the grocery store. There was enough space to accommodate all of us. The kitchen was very well-stocked and we were able to do a lot of cooking.

When we arrived the temperature in the facility was set at 74 degrees and it felt hot. It took over 48 hours to correct this issue because management said the owner needed to remotely allow/make this change. For a few days my father-in-law could not stand to be in the facility -- it was a little nuisance because we could not regulate the thermostat ourselves.

There are lots of little bugs everywhere. They were crawling around the bathtub where I would bathe my daughter. There were traps with sticky substances all over but still plenty of small critters. Not sure if that's normal?

When we were trying to barbecue the first gas tank ran out and we were told there was a spare in the garage. Later we learned this was empty too. It took another few days to get that situation sorted out so we were forced to find alternative dinner plans.

In the downstairs bedroom my father-in-law could not get access to the internet because of the walls blocking the router. He mentioned that that was a bit of an issue, too.

The yard was very nice, and again we loved the location. Thank you for allowing us to stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your detailed review. As always, we and our onsite management team work hard to ensure that each guest has a great visit. It appears we came up short on a number of issues for your stay and apologize. Regarding the "critters", being in the tropics, we do occasionally have a problem with ants, despite regular pest control. We have asked our service company to do another treatment to see if that can address the problem. I am also sorry that the temperature range was not comfortable for your guest. We do lock the thermostats at 74 as you have noted. For a high percentage of our guests, particularly with ceiling fans in every room and the dehumidified AC, 74 has been quite comfortable. When it is not, we always have our property manager adjust the thermostats. In the case of the internet access, our wireless router is located fifty feet away in the living room on the first floor. We are not sure what the problem is for access in the downstairs bedroom but will investigate. We look forward to having you as our guest in the future and wish you and you family Happy Holidays.
