About Johanna Trimboli

I was born in Sweden but my father was Sicilian and my mother from Florida. I was raised in Florida but spent many summers in Europe.I was raised on the water and on boats during my childhood. I learned an appreciation for nature and adventure at an early age. I have traveled extensively. My mother has a bed and breakfast that I have run at different times. It has given me first hand experience with making people feel at home and being a resource for them to explore a new area. I have a real estate license and was an active realtor in the Hudson Valley for years so I know many out of the way places and the best spots to explore. I currently do property management as well as foster children. I love to hike, travel, bake and have get togethers with family and friends. My fiance Jeff is an avid cyclist and knows all the best routes around. He also manages one of the yummiest restaurants around. And my daughter Isa is a bright, creative teenager. We have a super friendly pup we rescued from Panama, Bluff. And two Italian cats, Luna and Nero.

Johanna Trimboli purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Johanna Trimboli chose New York

I have lived in Woodstock for 15 years in a few different locations. When I stumbled upon this magical property I knew I was home. Tucked away amongst fruit trees and Japanese maples at the end of a dead end road all one can hear is songbirds and the breeze. It truly is a tranquil spot which I have found is more rare than one would think in the country. Many idyllic old houses were set right by main thoroughfares hundreds of years ago. Hence can be quiet busy. This house is surrounded by estates, completely private yet a stones throw to the center of Woodstock. Truly the best of both worlds. One can walk down Woodstock's loveliest road to Cooper Lake. Venture into town to shop and eat at one of the many award winning restaurants we have here then go see a great show at Bearsville Theater. At the end of the night it is a 3 minute drive back to your own oasis.

What makes this cottage unique

Aside from the convenience of location and the solitude of the surroundings our little cabin has all one would want from a country get away. Soak in the claw foot tub, sip wine by the Jotul stove and gaze at the starry sky from your deck. At the end of your adventures crawl into your super comfy bed with Egyptian Cotton sheets and down pillows and comforter. Know that all products used to clean your sweet retreat are biodegradable, cruelty free and green products.

Great tucked away cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was great, cottage was cozy, property was nice. I loved how it was up in the mountain and tucked away. grilling and going to the lake was great. enjoyed the phoenicia diner and a trip to giant ledge as well as the woodstock Farm santuary. the cottage and everything was just what I needed to get away from the city life, me and my gf enjoyed ourselves throughly , and the dog greeting us was a bonus. would definitely consider going back.

Cozy Cabin- Lovely Romantic Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful weekend in this cozy cabin! Everything you need for a simple weekend away from the city!

The cabin is located on the same property as the owners house, tucked away in the woods on the property. There is a fire pit and a small grill on the property. We used the fire pit and the wood and kindling was provided to us- we roasted delicious smores! The cabin has a stocked kitchen and towels & bedding were provided.

We hiked to Kaaterskill Falls which is about a 45 min drive from the cabin and an easy hour hike. We also checked out the lake that is about 3 min drive from the cabin- really beautiful with all the changing leaves.

The town of Woodstock is located about 5 minutes from the cabin- cute shops and cafes. We ate at the Bear Cafe for dinner (a recommendation from the owner)- and I can honestly say one of the best Roasted Chicken dinners I have had EVER! So delicious.

Loved every minute and would come back!!

If you are looking for a place to stay for one night and you are desperate - then this is the place for you. I will start off by saying that the owner was very nice and provided info on where to eat, buy groceries, shop, etc. and there was a cute dog that came by in the morning to say hello and greet you but everything else was disappointing. The cottage was clean & cozy but needs to be updated & maintained a bit. The door to get in does not lock. My husband had to fiddle with the door knobs and push them together so that we could properly lock the door when we went out for an errand. This took almost 10 minutes to do while standing in the pouring rain, holding my 14th month old baby in one arm and holding the umbrella for my husband with my other hand so he wouldn't get wet. Also, the place smells like mildew. From the towels that were provided to the bed linens - it all smelled like mildew. Also, the bed linens were old and rough to the touch. There was an extra comforter & pillow inside the trunk by the couch and they were filthy. They both had stains, no extra pillow case, and the comforter clearly handn't been washed in a very long time. The couch is uncomfortable- the cushion part slants downward bc it's pretty much old and needs to be replaced. Yes, the kitchen is fully stocked but no paper towels. Just an old rag that stunk like mildew. The morning we left I did find a small roll of paper towels under the sink BUT these are the type of paper towels you find in public restrooms- the brown ones, very cheap. The bathroom was odd - no privacy as you can hear the other person using the toilet and doing their business because the wall that separates the bathroom and the rest of the place doesn't reach the ceiling. The shower curtains were old, ripped and stained with mildew and the door to the bathroom needs to be fixed as well bc it doesn't shut easily. You have to yank it hard to shut it and it slams really loud. With the amount of money charged to stay here, the owner can make a run to Target and get some new bed linens, buy some real paper towels, get a new shower curtain and add an air freshener. I would not recommend this place to my friends or relatives.

Owner's Response: Paola.... It is unfortunate my cottage isn't what you were looking for. I do apologize for not explaining you must lift handle upwards to engage locking mechanism. I wish you all had called my cell as I did furnish you with the number if you had any needs or inquiries. I have created a space that is accommodating and welcoming to all. I usually don't offer one night but decided to make an exception. I usually do not offer extra bedding/cribs but went through my storage area to get you my toddlers pack n play which I haven't used in months as a courtesy to you as I know what it is like to travel with a little one and have endless supplies. I tried to give you one less thing to worry about it carry with you. Many people do not accept pets but as a pet lover I try to accommodate those with pets so they can bring their beloved dogs with them. And though because of this it may get a little extra wear and tear I think it is worth it to make it pet friendly. To address some of your grievances, the cottage is designed for a couple hence has an open feel. It is fully renovated but an original cottage with some quirks such as a sticky bathroom Door. I am very environmentally conscious and only use green products. Hence the paper towels you were referring to are not cheap, on the contrary they are the most expensive as they are from recycled materials. The toilet tissue is "green" as well. I only use 100% cotton bedding and duvet covers and towels. All of lovely quality and most of my guests have made a point to relish in the bedding. The shower curtain is comprised of three as its a claw foot tub as well. And I deliberately shortened one so that it wasn't hanging in the bathtub area when showering. I have the cottage cleaned professionally after each guest. It takes the cleaner 2 hours which for a 400 sq ft space is very thorough. All bedding including duvet covers are washed after each guest. If it was an unusually moist week with rain and there was some unappealing smell that is unfortunate. But we live in the woods which invites those with a love of nature who want to relax. I am eager to please. It's my nature. And I try to offer a sweet retreat and accommodate my guests needs fully. I let each guest know please to contact me for any reason yet I never heard from you. I would have been happy to explain the door lock and would have remedied any of your concerns if given the opportunity. Best, Johanna

Perfect little cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED staying at the cottage! As soon as I saw it, I fell in love. The property is gorgeous and so is everything about the cabin, inside and out. The owners answered any questions we had and were very accommodating as well.

The town is very cute and we found that there was a lot to do and see. My boyfriend and I really didn't want to leave, it was THAT perfect!
