The one bedroom cottage has been updated. The cottage is very comfortable and has a queen in the bedroom and a queen futon in the living room. This past year, a large 6 ft. patio door was installed to enhance the beautiful views of the Lake. There is a 100 feet of pristine sand frontage and private dock. This is a perfect location that offers a lot of privacy, since the cottage does not share it's frontage with any other property. The cottage can comfortably sleep up to 4 people. The kitchen has a full range, microwave, fridge, toaster, coffee maker, fans in the bedroom and living room, A/C and heat, satellite TV and VCR. The cottage is located 20 minutes north of Minocqua. The area offers many attractions and great restaurants. The famouse Little Bohemia Restaurant, where Public Enemies was filmed is just several properties to the North, so it is close enough to walk to.
Amenities Include: Full Kitchen, Satellite TV, DVD, Grill, Dock and Air Conditioning.
Activities: Boating on 10 lake chain, fishing, swimming (rippled sand frontage), biking (lots of bike trails), hiking, skiing and local ski shows, lots of attractions and nearby arts and crafts shows.
Area: Cottage is 20 minutes north of Minocqua, and easy access off of Hwy 51
I am one of 8 children in my family. We are originally from Chicago, and have all vacationed in Manitowish Waters our entire lives. My Mother's family built a resort up there in the early 1930's. We all loved it so much, that many of us purchased our own homes.
Deborah Zimmermann purchased this cottage in 2002
We have been to other areas in Wi., but there wasn't anything that we felt was close to being as beautiful as Manitowish Waters. It is so unique, especially since it offers a 10 lake chain. There is so much to see & do, that many people will stay longer than a week. It is a small community that welcomes everyone! Most people wind up making so many friends during their stay, that many frequently plan there next visit before they leave.
This cottage is easy to get to, yet still far enough away, to still enjoy the tranquility of the nature, and the beauty of the lake & woods.
First the good. This is an outstanding location to stay on the Manitowish chain of lakes with great sunsets and proximity to 'downtown' Manitowish Waters and Highway 51. The shoreline is sandy and the water is clear.
The cottage itself is, shall we say, rustic. Compared to other modest places we have stayed in the area the maintenance, condition and amenities of this cottage are far below average and it either needs significant maintenance or should be a tear-down and start over. We love staying in old places where the decor is wonky and everything is old. I was concerned that this property only had one rating in the past year with little detail. The cottage is only suited for two people as the futon in the living room is small and would take up much of the space if used. The AC unit, while not often needed, could barely cool the bedroom alone.
We had to buy some additional cleats so we could tie our boat to the dock as the ones that were on the pier were too small and spaced too close.
At the time of our stay, the owner was actively trying to sell the property and we had at least five people/couples stop to see the property. One couple even said they called the owner and she said to stop and take a look. Would have been nice to give those staying there a heads-up.
