About Jodi Lamb

I grew up in Sevierville, TN and moved to Nashville to attend Vanderbilt University for my undergrad degree. I moved to Murfreesboro and got my MBA from MTSU. My husband and I currently live in Murfreesboro with our two kids who are ages 8 and 6.

Jodi Lamb purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Jodi Lamb chose Douglas Lake

Our cabin was completed the weekend of our wedding in 2006. Just in time to host guests of our wedding (we weren't even the first to stay there)! My parents were managing Paradise Landing Resort and my dad was building cabins in the neighborhood. He talked me into letting him build one for us as an 'investment'. Well...as we all know, investments in housing and land hit bottom in 2008, so things didn't turn out as planned. We have held onto the cabin a little longer than planned, but have been successfully renting the property and others are enjoying the beauty of this quiet retreat. The kids love visiting their 'cabinet' and like to talk about how Grandaddy built it, but busy schedules keep us in Middle Tennessee most of the time.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is located just 5 miles off I-40 and you avoid the traffic of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. If you enjoy the lake and all it has to offer this is a great cabin. Even though it isn't on the water, there are two marinas close by with rentals and ramps (if you have your own boat). You can get to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg by way of back roads and avoid the dreaded traffic. We can get to Dollywood in about 25 minutes! It is a great cabin with modern luxuries and perfect for a family with kids. The pool table and hot tub offer entertainment if you just want to stay close by!

Pictures do not do justice!!! AMAZING!

I had a wonderful time. The cabin is gorgeous and looks so much better in person. It is also more updated than the pictures. The location is great and it's close to so many things to do. Cell phone service isn't great with Verizon and Sprint, but it was nice to not have internet. Definitely cannot beat the price! I would highly recommend this cabin! Very secluded and such a pretty view.

We enjoyed our stay. We liked all the amenities but the downsides are there too, the heat is loud, very loud. If you're used to noise when you sleep then it's not a problem at all. The water is soft, but we knew that before booking. Very spacious fridge and great back porch. We enjoyed our stay overall. Would recommend for 3-5 nights. Our 7 night trip got boring

Quiet, clean, restful, comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Jodi is very friendly, helpful and quick to respond. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin. After all our Christmas festivities were over, my husband and I came here to relax. The cabin was decorated for Christmas including a tree. Housekeeping had even left us a box of chocolates as a present. We loved this cabin and hope to stay here again.

Very cozy and private

  • 4 of 5

Upon arrival the cabin was very clean. It had everything needed for the duration of our stay. The location is not to far from pigeon forge/Gatlinburg. We were there during the wildfires that broke out in Gatlinburg and the owners checked in with us to make sure we were ok. Very nice people. Very nice cabin. Would highly recommend

Beautiful Tennessee

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was beautiful and we were very happy with it. It sits back in a ways so it was very quiet and serene. We really enjoyed how quiet it was. Jodi was great to communicate with, when I emailed her, she returned my emails promtly. She gave us back road directions to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinbury which was helpful.

The only thing that would be helpful is maybe a book that lists where things are such as where to find firewood. The cabin did not have many kitchen supplies which was different than anywhere else we have stayed with VRBO. There were only 3 dinner plates and no cake pans or baking dishes.

Overall the stay was wonderful and we would definately stay there again!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the feedback. Just wanted to let you know I went on Amazon and purchased several new kitchen items to restock missing items. New silverware, dishes set, glasses, coffee mugs, skillets, bakeware etc. We want to make sure our guests have everything they need!
