Born in Ontario,Canada, lived in California for 20 yrs, but retired to sunny Sun Valley where the garden is beautiful and the people friendly. I love the yoga, hiking, river boating, variety of cultural experiences to be had here.
Jan Sommer purchased this house in 2012
I looked for 3 years before I choose to retire to this spacious airy house. The light in the house is very special. I can watch the stars from the decks, see the moon from my bed, and have bird feeders all around the house. Sun pours through the many windows winter and summer. My garden I laughingly call Tuscany in Idaho, for the colours and flowers. It even has an olive tree! There have been many the garden parties here, with everything you need for an outdoor dining experience.
Walking up to the front door along the stone path, through flowers and looking in at the cherry wood floors made me fall for this house. Then the high ceilings and 7 ft doorways give this house scale and interior colors lift my spirits. There's a beautiful stone fireplace in the center of the open living-kitchen area. Everyone loves coming here.. it has a lovely spirit.
For the second ear in a row, I was able to enjoy this cozy home for Christmas week. It was such a success last year and this year was no exception. Jan was there to greet me and to answer any questions I had. This year I chose to sleep downstairs in another very comfy bed, just like the one upstairs. There was a handy bath a few steps away and the gorgeous kitchen and the wonderful living area was he perfect place to be in the mornings and evenings after wonderful days out skiing. Thank you, Jan, for allowing me to stay yet again in your lovely home! Ginny
we rented this home for a week and couldn't have been happier ! It is a beautiful, spacious , welcoming home with lots of interesting artwork . The owner had it well stocked with necessities ! The yard was lovely ... And plenty of outdoor sitting/eating areas. A wonderful find! We couldn't have been more pleased. We will definitely come back to this home! "
I spent a week in this home over Christmas. It was perfect. Super clean. I enjoyed the cozy master upstairs, great living room down, big very well equipped kitchen/dining room also on the first floor. There was another bedroom and an office like room which I did not use as there was only one person. The house was very close to Hailey center. I was impressed that every time it snowed, the plow person arrived promptly and did a great job. The owner let me park my car in the garage which allowed me direct access into the house….a perfect arrangement in the winter! It was immediately apparent that the owner really cared for her property. She toured me through upon my arrival and was available to answer any questions. I would definitely stay there again! Ginny
Bike path in summer, x-c ski path in winter is 1/2 block from door. Hiking trails right from the house lead into the mountains and wilderness. Beautiful garden and decks for relaxing, eating al fresco. Live music and live theatre nearby year round.

If you love cats and want to allow my cats to stay while you're there, please call me. Tin Tin and Dora are easy care and mellow and have their own door (ie no kitty litter, no worrying about letting him in or out). I'll give you a special rate.
I have a beautiful fireplace. If you want to use it, call/EM me and we'll discuss beforehand. I have plenty of dry wood and kindling. Insurance premium would be $89.
